Way too lenient. What other self respecting forum lets shit-posters just troll for years? You could post obvious bait topics, play dumb, and ignore any responses that prove you wrong. Go a "little bit too far" and post something obscenely racist, you get a timeout and lose 3 karma. Then you're back to just low grade trolling while you wait for your moderation to purge.

The karma system is intentionally game-like, but GameFAQs also unintentionally gameified their moderation system. For decades there was a little progress bar of increasing penalties and all you had to do was keep that bar from filling up. Any other forum, someone who repeatedly trolls, shitposts, posts racist shit, etc just gets banned. Come back on an obvious alt and start slowly trolling again? Get banned immediately. Can't tell new user from alt of banned user? Doesn't matter, just ban them, you don't need "new users" who come to troll.

I think it's getting better, lately, but the rules-gaming system has let too much toxicity fester over the decades. There's plenty of cool posters still on GameFAQs. You can have disagreements, make jokes, or do some non-harmful trolling; but the garbage should have been taken out a long time ago.

Actually having an old account protects you from getting banned from the get go. That's what saved Admiral for the longest time.

It low key comes off racist when you have a lot of experience and know that it's all in people's heads. It'sjust them taking a couple real life experiences (which Im not denying can be traumatic) and then chases stories online that confirm their biases. That's the same way people let their racism for people flourish.

And I'm not saying it's as bad as being racist against people. If it has to go somewhere, Id prefer it directed at dogs rather than races of people. But... that's not really how it works. If you're ignorant, it usually doesn't stay contained in one place in your brain.

Yeah I worked at McDonald's for a bit and I've seen customers try some really bs stuff. I swear they do it just because they know managers will "compensate" them with more stuff.

For example, had a customer complain that her fries were cold (which was impossible because they had just come out of the fryer). So we offered to take the fries back and give her fresh ones. She dumped the "cold" fries into her bag and handed us the empty fry container for her fresh fries.

When we refused to give her more fries after that, she made a big fuss and demanded the manager. Manager gave her more fries just to get her to leave.
