Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Sunday said she believes too many Democratic Party leaders are over the hill. The Missourian argued on NBCs Meet the Press that Democrats need an infusion of fresher faces if they hope to appeal to younger voters moving forward while noting that party leadership is made up of a lot of old folks. But I will tell you I do think the Democratic Party is struggling with an issue that is real, McCaskill, now an NBC News and MSNBC contributor, said during a panel discussion. All of our leadership and I say this as somebody whos ancient you know, a lot of old folks are running the Democratic Party now in every part of the Democratic Party, she said. The partys prospects in the 2024 election, the former Democratic lawmaker argued, will hinge largely on drawing younger voters with distinct priorities.

I think the Democratic Party will benefit from really doing some navel-gazing about how can we get more young people to the forefront because young people are going to be really important to us in 2024, she said. President Biden, 79, would be the oldest president to seek re-election if he runs again in 2024. McCaskill, 69, who was first elected to represent Missouri in the US Senate in 2007 lost a re-election campaign to Republican Josh Hawley, 42, in 2018. Her comments come after a new CBSNews poll showed 73% of respondents backing age limits for elected officials.

She is right. AOC should be the Speaker of the House or at least something high ranking. Dems have way too many old people at the top of the party.

https://nypost.com/2022/09/10/nyc-refusing-to-release-9-11-records-without-lawsuit-immunity/

Mayor Adams is refusing to release a stash of potentially damning documents showing that the city covered up warnings about dangerous air and health hazards facing New Yorkers after 9/11 unless the city is granted immunity from lawsuits, sources told The Post. The stubborn stance comes as two New York Congress members demand the mayor release all records kept under wraps since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. It has been 21 years since 9/11, and the city has still not come forward with information about what it knew in the aftermath of the attacks. There are thousands of 9/11 responders and survivors who have the right to this information, Rep. Carolyn Maloney said in a statement last week. Maloney and Rep. Jerry Nadler are calling on Adams an ex-cop and 9/11 responder to open the citys files on what then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his administration knew from the get-go about health risks facing thousands of New Yorkers from the dust and smoke at Ground Zero, but kept the alarming information secret. Sources on Saturday confirmed a New York Times report that a memo in early October 2001 to then-Deputy Mayor Robert Harding from an assistant warned the city faced up to 10,000 liability claims including toxic tort cases that might arise in the next few decades.

Among other groups, 9/11 Environmental Action wants transparency. Director Kimberly Flynn said the city is continuing to cover up disastrous decisions, which advocates say failed to protect 9/11 workers and those who lived, worked, and went to school in Lower Manhattan. This is a disgrace and yet another betrayal of New Yorkers trust, she said. Andrew Carboy, a lawyer for 9/11 responders, said the city has a history of withholding key documents. In 2010, Carboy discovered it had deliberately concealed a 25-page Respiratory Protection Program, which mandated safety equipment for FDNY personnel in case of disasters including a building collapse. The city called the document irrelevant, but was ordered to turn it over. It revealed that firefighters lacked air-purifying respirators as they dug amid the dust and smoke at Ground Zero.

Yikes. What are they hiding.

TopicGoogle Calls On Apple To Fix Hated Green Bubbles On iMessage

https://www.forbes.com/sites/richardnieva/2022/08/09/google-calls-on-apple-to-fix-hated-green-bubbles-on-imessage

For many iPhone users, there is a common annoyance when it comes to texting: A friend switches to Android and the message bubbles in the group chat turn green. When people text between iPhones and Android phones, things start to break: Pictures and videos get pixelated, messages sometimes dont get sent, or they come late or out of order. Typing indicators become disabled, and reactions, like a thumbs up or heart, are written out in text instead of displayed as badges on the bubbles. People have been complaining about it for years. Google on Tuesday launched a marketing campaign slamming Apple over the issue. The search giant published a website called Get the Message, urging people to call out Apple on social media for broken group chats. Its time for Apple to fix texting, the website reads. These problems exist because Apple refuses to adopt modern texting standards when people with iPhones and Android phones text each other. The website also points out alternatives to Apples iMessage that work well for texting between operating systems, including the privacy-focused chat app Signal, and Meta-owned WhatsApp.

The campaign is the most aggressive move yet from Google in an attempt to convince Apple to make its texting service more compatible with Android phones, breaking a decorum in which tech giants rarely badmouth each other by name. Teens and college students reportedly dread being ostracized for green bubbles, according to The Wall Street Journal. Earlier this year, Androids top boss, Hiroshi Lockheimer, said Apples upper hand in texting was the result of peer pressure and bullying. The reason for the issues is the technology behind the messaging services. Apple uses SMS, or Short Message Service, and MMS, or Multimedia Message Service two stalwart but aging protocols that were released in the 90s and early 00s. Google is pushing Apple to adopt RCS, or Rich Communication Services, a newer protocol that the company adopted in 2019 to modernize texting on Android phones. Getting both iPhones and Android phones on RCS would also mean messages between the two operating systems could become end-to-end encrypted, right now a glaring security issue. Despite its standing and brand awareness, Google has long struggled to build successful messaging apps for its platforms. The company has released and shuttered several texting services over the years, including Hangouts and Allo, that failed to gain traction with consumers. For Apple, the green bubble strategy is by design. In the absence of a strategy to become the primary messaging service for [the] bulk of cell phone users, I am concerned the iMessage on Android would simply serve to remove [an] obstacle to iPhone families giving their kids Android phones, Craig Federighi, Apples senior vice president of software engineering, said in a 2013 email.

Topic67% of pandemic 'boomerang kids' are still living with mom and dad

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/09/06/many-pandemic-boomerang-kids-still-live-with-mom-and-dad.html

At the height of the Covid pandemic, many young adults moved back in with mom and dad. It was an unprecedented moment of uncertainty; college campuses were closed and jobs were scarce. More than two years later, 67% of millennials and Gen Zers who moved home are still there, according to a recent report by LendingTree. Most said they initially moved in with their parents out of necessity or to save money. Hefty student loan bills from school and soaring housing costs have put a financial stranglehold on those just starting out. Now the surging cost of living and sky-high rents are making it harder to move on. With inflation as high as it is and with rates rising, it can be difficult for anyone to make ends meet in todays economy, said Jacob Channel, LendingTrees senior economist.

Overall, multi-generational living is on the rise and has been for years. The number of household with two or more adult generations has quadrupled over the past five decades, according to a Pew Research Center report based on census data from 1971 to 2021. Such households now represent 18% of the U.S. population, they estimate. Finances are the No. 1 reason families are doubling up, Pew found, due, in part to ballooning student debt and housing costs. Caregiving also plays a role in the decision process. To that end, multigenerational living has grown the fastest among adults ages 25 to 34. In 2020, the share of those living with their parents often referred to as boomerang kids temporarily spiked to a historic high. The pandemic was a short-term rocket, but the levels today are still significantly above where they were in 2019 and its been rising over the past 50 years, said Richard Fry, a senior researcher at Pew. Now, 25% of young adults live in a multigenerational household, up from just 9% five decades ago. In most cases, 25- to 34-year-olds are living in the home of one or both of their parents. A smaller share live in their own home and has a parent or other older relative stay with them.

https://www.outkick.com/japanese-porn-star-fukada-eimi-hugs-more-than-3000-people/

Japanese Porn star Fukada Eimi spent last weekend banging out hugs to more than 3,000 people. Eimi did so as part of an attempt to become the most hugged woman in the world. 3,163 people showed up to the Shibuya, Tokyo event for a chance to hug the porn star. And though Fukada Eimis hugs were free, the horny huggers had to shell out 1,000 yen just over $7 if they wanted to snap a pic of the Eimi embrace with their smartphones. A seemingly small price to pay for the love and affection of a porn star whos made a career of making those around her feel good. Per the Daily Japan, Eimi was completely exhausted following the event, but somehow managed to push through. The 24-year-old took only a three hour break and a handful of 10 minutes breaks during the 24-hour period.

Some have argued it was the grittiest performance in competition history since Michael Jordans flu game. Those in attendance were designated as huggies and not huggers. The event required fans to keep their hands either at their side, or behind their backs while being hugged by Fukada Eimi. They were not allowed to reciprocate the hug. Apparently $7 with a porn star wont get you what it used to. Eimi, who has more than 1.3 million Instagram followers and another 1.13 million on her YouTube channel, told fans in attendance: This time, with 3,163 people, I was able to do my best for 24 hours with everyones help. Thank you very much.

The teen girlfriend of an attempted murder suspect was slugged by a city cop during a wild caught-on-video melee that erupted as cops tried to arrest the wanted man on a Harlem street. The woman, identified as 19-year-old Tamani Crum of the Bronx, hit the sidewalk hard after confronting an officer identified by sources as NYPD Det. Kendo Kinsey, with police officials defending the Tuesday night confrontation that sparked instant outrage. You just hit a little girl! says one onlooker in the video. Youre wilding, bro! Police appeared to have had 22-year-old attempted murder suspect Elvin James under control in handcuffs when Crum approached them, the video shows. But NYPD sources with knowledge of the incident said police and detectives appeared justified in their response to the scene and that Crums actions posed a danger. That guy had a loaded firearm on him, said one source. If she was successful in stopping the arrest, then he could have pulled that gun and hurt someone. The second source said the officers response was a legitimate use of force: A lot of people see cops struggling and wrestling with people. But they have to understand that punching someone is a justifiable action too.

Crum, who fell backward to the pavement before police picked her up, was charged with assault and resisting arrest, cops said. Julia Crum, whose granddaughter was arrested, defended the teen and said the police had no business putting their hands on the young woman. He cold knocked her out, she said. Hes not better than the people who are knocking people out in the street ... He should never have put his hands on her or any female. Hes wrong. Hes wrong. Hes wrong. So often our children are victims of excessive force by the police here and were just looking for accountability, dad Elvin James told the Daily News about the incident with his namesake son. Someone needs to be held accountable. Its unacceptable and were not going to have it. In a statement, the NYPD said the officers actions were justified. Kinsey and other cops, the NYPD statement said, were arresting James in connection with an Aug. 12 attempted murder. During the arrest, James was found with a loaded gun and drugs, the department said.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/29/followers-shia-cleric-storm-iraq-government-palace-muqtada-al-sadr

Months of political tensions over stalled attempts to form a government in Iraq have spilled over into violence, with at least 12 people killed and hundreds hurt in clashes between militias in Baghdads Green Zone and a nationwide curfew imposed. The gunfire followed an announcement by the powerful Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr that he was quitting politics and an earlier decision by his spiritual mentor to retire and attempt to persuade his former student to transfer his fealty to Iran. Sadrs supporters, who had been staging a weeks-long sit-in at parliament in the Green Zone, breached the entrance of the Republican Palace, where cabinet meetings are usually held. By nightfall, forces loyal to Sadr had been deployed across Baghdad, where many were vandalising posters of Iranian-backed Shia leaders, including the Iranian general Qassem Suleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike in 2020. The developments cast a new pall over Iraq, where a political deadlock and a bitter tussle for influence between Iranian-backed interests and parties loyal to Baghdad have festered for the past 10 months.

The resignation of Ayatollah Kadhim al-Haeri, in particular, has added a new dynamic to the imbroglio, leading some observers to claim that Iraqs fate will be determined not in a sovereign capital, but in one of the two spiritual centres of Shia Islam: Najaf in Iraq and Qom in Iran. The spectre of the most powerful militias in the country being drawn into a wider confrontation appeared likely as night closed in, with sporadic clashes erupting near the Iraqi parliament between Iranian-backed militias and forces loyal to Sadr, who can command the loyalty of up to 7 million Shia Iraqis. The UN chief, Antnio Guterres, on Monday called for restraint in Iraq and asked all parties to take immediate steps to de-escalate the situation, according to his spokesperson, as Baghdads Green Zone descended into chaos.

Here we go again.

They must realized that is how you stop inflation right. By slowing demand. People will likely lose jobs and that helps the fed since less people with money and then if enough people lose jobs no more bargaining power for raised salary. It is fucked up but that is what the Fed wants.
