Not terrible. Not great. 7 of my bottom 11 eliminated which is all the movies that fall below the "good" threshold for me. I lose two of my top 12 (movies I loved) and my 15 which I still thought was really, really good.

I think it's pretty interesting that there were multiple people that loved Creep while I thought it was insufferably boring, and those same people thought A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night was insufferably boring while I loved it. If we all could've agreed on which of these two was interesting we could've gotten it in the top twenty.

I think the only real overlap of people that liked both is Snake.

Loki was strangely the worst part of Loki. I didn't mind him too much but Sylvie/He Who Remains/Classic Loki/Owen Wilson were all good enough to really carry the show for me.

I dunno if I should count "Loki (still alive)" as a different character or not. I feel like there's an argument to be made he's a different enough character but I'm not sure what I'd do with that nom.

Hela is either my favorite or second favorite villain in all of the MCU. Her or Thanos, not sure which (with Vulture a close third).

I've also saved her from the depths way back when I still had extra saves to give, so a random hero showing up to HELP HELA is unexpected but welcome.

It was weird that the big reveal was that the kids were doing it and that it followed to the new house, which is something I figured out really early on in the movie.

But even with maybe a bit of a let down at the end, I thought all the stuff before them fleeing town did a good job. Some of the scares were a bit silly (especially that box one which in retrospect is hilarious), but it really worked for me at least.

You know exactly what's going to happen in the snuff films after you see the first one, but there's something still wonderfully creepy about them and they manage to be unsettling even if you know something bad is just around the corner.

A quick scan shows I have the same thing! High fives all around.

Yeah, I'm on team "this is too low for Sinister". I definitely found it the scariest of the movies. That lawnmower jump scare and the initial hanging scene were stuff that stuck with me since I saw it in the theater. It wasn't my favorite, but it was in my pile of great horror movies on the list. Thought it could get in the 20-11 range.

Although it does lose cool points for that stupid Gabaghoul jump scare, particularly the one at the very end of the movie.

I do agree the prologue was very good, too! It was nice to see the "all falls apart" scene and I thought they did a really good job with it even though you know the main cast is gonna survive that.

My main issue wasn't even the rules being a bit messier. It just was way less emotionally impactful than the original. Yeah, monsters were cool and all and scare were solid, but what I liked most was the family drama. There's some of that here but not nearly the same level. It felt like, I dunno, just another movie. It really didn't stand out to me in any way.

The good news is it seems like you accidentally saved us some time anyway! I'm going to decrease it down to 5 saves at least for these first couple of days and see how things go. Seems like that's the feedback I've been getting and I don't mind trimming it down a bit (as much for my own sanity as much any everyone else's).

Not just that but also what you said about the impacts of violence. You see it in Laurie and how she terrorises her daughter then acts like Michael at the end, the doctor and if is implied by the final shot of the granddaughter with the knife which goes nowhere in the terrible sequel.

Anyway Im going to guess A Quiet Place because some of the earlier comments about Michael Bay as a producer make me worry that were in for some terrible opinions. I hope Im wrong!

It just can't be A Quiet Place. I feel like that is the "safest" of the critically acclaimed movies and I'd be shocked if it wasn't top ten at the absolute worst.

But yeah, Terrifier is the movie I had a paragraph of comparison to Halloween at first before deleting it because it wasn't helpful or all that interesting. You also have the "stomp the face so hard it literally smushes" kill, the silent murderer, the theme (or attempted theme) of trauma resulting from violence, etc. It was interesting to see commonalities and really like one but really, really hate the other.

Yeah, definitely fits the "violence either destroys you or lives on through you" theme. Had I been a bigger fan of the Halloween franchise, I might've ranked the reboot higher than Terrifier.

Although, now it makes sense why the sequel abandons its established rules at many spots for the sake of action.

Yeah, AQP2 was a huge let down. Joins the ranks of It 2 and Halloween Kills as recent-ish horror sequels that I wish didn't exist.

I mean I fully understand not wanting to be here all day because it's hard for me as well.

Looking back at Smash, they were already at one save per post way before this, but they were only at 4 saves needed at this point which helped things not be so unbearably long.

Right now we'd be at 6 saves per character with 25 characters left so 149 posts worth of saves, max. We had 29 savers in the first hour, some people join in later and some people who only save once and then bounce. So we're probably looking at 6+ hours if we keep it at six saves.

If we go down to five saves to try and keep the time less burdensome, we have 124 posts worth of saves, max. Still with 29 savers (or so) per hour, we'd probably be looking at 5+ hours instead.

I dunno, do people have thoughts on this besides Ulti? I don't mind trying to keep the total time in that 5 hour range to start the round and then boosting the saves back up once we get below that four hour mark. We have hit six hours a couple of times before in the earliest rounds of the contest, but I understand if people don't want to go back to that.

You got like three hours for feedback before I make a decision. Can't guarantee I'll go with the majority but I'd at least like to hear some thoughts!

You know, considering how negative the overall consensus was, I am a little surprised no one brought up what I thought was the worst part of the movie, and that is the overly convoluted way they get Michael to Laurie's house. Something interesting (too me) is that while Laurie is obsessed with Michael, you get the impression that Michael doesn't really give a shit about Laurie. She's traumatized and ruined her life, but Michael is just a dude that loves killing and hey, who are you again?

It is a great set up and a great pay off and a great way to wrap up the series (if they had any restraint at all), but what I wasn't really a fan of is how they connect that first act with that ending. They want both this interesting take on Michael/Laurie and for Laurie to have the closure she needs and that great final confrontation. But its hard to do that when Michael pretty clearly has no interest in tracking her down.

So to get them to face off, what they do is have the doctor (worst character in the film and honestly redundant considering the role of the podcasters) straight up just drive him to her house. That was the part of the movie that lost me a little, honestly. The rest of it was so good (imo) but that bit was sketchy.

I expect my 29, 27, 25, and 24 to all do well, my 17 to be top 3, and my 10, 9, 6, and 3 to drop before too long. I think I have a chance! You and Nook have a decent lead on me already though so it might be tough to catch up.

Surprised to see I'm not the only one who didn't love the original Halloween. It's okay, but it never rattled me in the way that a watershed horror film should.

Also surprised that Halloween 2018 dropped out this early. At worst I thought this was a Top 15 movie, but you monsters proved me very wrong.

Yeah, I still like it, but I don't think it stands up very well compared to all the other classics that were released at the same time. Still good, but I've seen people count it amongst their very favorite horror movies and I just can't get on board.

I *thought* that with Terrifier doing better than expected, that Halloween would get in the 20-15 range or so at the very worst. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

I think next might be my #3. Not positive, but I felt like I would be the highest ranker for that by a fair bit. Hopefully I'm wrong!

So judging from the write-ups, I think I'm the only one here who likes Halloween II (81).

Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of any Halloween beyond the very first one and this other one also just named Halloween. A good chunk of "watchable" but not really any that are remarkable in any way. My least favorite though is Halloween Kills which is just absolutely horrendous.

FRIENDSHIP CONFIRMED. Although liking Terrifier and not Halloween would've shocked and concerned me so I kinda thought we'd be on the same page here.

The person who ranked A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night the highest is also the person who ranked Halloween (2018) the highest. JUST AS EXPECTED.

Also, this is just for my own personal ranking, but the very final last minute change I made was swapping Halloween (ranked 7) with my original number 6. After thinking on it...I would swap them back. I know its too late for totaling numbers (and it doesn't affect the Halloween ranking at all) but after thinking on 6 more I want it back at its original position.

But, yeah, I loved Halloween 2018. It is a nearly perfect example of a slasher to me, and an actually good version of what Terrifier was trying to do but failed at. So many interesting choices here and I actually prefer it to the original (which I always found slightly overrated). This was one of the three I thought could drop early, but not the one I was most worried about strangely enough.
