A Realm Reborn - 6.5/10.

It starts very slow and is for the first half largely stays as standard FF fare until it really gets going. With that said when you return to the Waking Sands and find half the Scions dead thats a clear shift and signals a drastic improvement. The ending is also great.

Heavensward - 8.5/10.

Now we are getting started! The way this builds on the setting of ARR is really excellent. The patch content here is some of the absolute best Final Fantasy writing around - and were we really start to see the political and philosophical themes emerge as the game leaves behind the formula of the older games.

Stormblood - 8/10.

Speaking of politics, I think Stormblood does a really good job of bringing that to the fore. It has everything you want - the human impacts of colonialism, paramilitaries, chemical weapons, popular uprisings. It does have some pacing issues, but I think its underrated although the patches have some issues.

Shadowbringers - 9/10.

What more needs to be said about this one? Easily among the best ever Final Fantasy stories and much darker and more horror tinged than I expected. Drags very slightly in the middle but the high points are among the best of any game.

Endwalker - 9.5/10.

Absolutely incredible, dealing with themes and questions I am shocked to see a Final Fantasy game tackle whatsoever. It even surpassed Shadowbringers which is a real feat. It is just a fantastically paced story as well.

Overall - 10/10.

Its more than the sum of its parts. An incredible feat of long-form storytelling.

I wouldn't really say Skyrim had a good contest. Although, that could be due to Witcher 3 overshadowing it.

Strong disagree, it held up and looked great. People here just underestimated The Witcher 3, as they continue to!

Also Elden Ring is definitely the strongest game since Breath of the Wild even though I agree that Horizon 1>Horizon 2. The real shocker is Kirby though, that could be one to watch.

6.5/10. The remake does introduce some new flaws, but makes up for it with vastly better presentation and scripts.

Beat Morgott last night would definitely not recommend doing Altus before Caelid. Will probably change my mind when I finish Caelid.

Yep, E3 is dead. It was on its way out even before the pandemic. While it is disappointing when you consider E3 at its height, from an audience perspective as long as there are still big summer shows from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo it doesnt really matter as those were the only shows that mattered for the last five shows maybe? The big downside for developers is that it was a large source of networking, but that was already more difficult as it was not in person also there are better events for that anyway.

While the oscars are a joke as a show, and the presentation of rich people slapping each other on the back element is really bad, the actual awards picks have been pretty good for the last three, since they expanded the membership and changed the system. The Razzies usually just go for the popular targets as said. So I guess I agree with the topic?

Its the weakest of the three as it is messy, but still good.

Red is definitely a final boss. Similarly Kos, Sans and Maria are mandatory to their campaigns but you dont have to do that campaign.

Unfortunate, not a shocker. This would be the third game from a poll I made on delays to get delayed after Suicide Squad and STALKER. Other than those Starfield got a decent amount of support so maybe thats next.

Well get to it for sure. My rule of thumb was six months out from release but as were running out of interesting games I am already twisting that a bit (well be doing Metroid Dread and FFXIV including Endwalker in the next few days) so we will likely get to it sooner.

Its terrible though I will give it points for the audacity of releasing a game that does not meaningfully advance the series plot nearly 20 years after the first one. Also the writing itself is laughably dated.

I think this was a solid set of winners and nominees. Overall the Oscar redemption arc of the previous two awards continues with this one. Yeah it was largely predictable but thats not always a bad thing. It just means that there was a general agreement.

Thats in terms of the awards themselves though, the show seemed terrible from what clips Ive watched. They should cut the skits, show all the awards, and focus on making a great show movie goers will enjoy rather than chasing an uninterested general audience.

Anyway, CODA was not my pick (Dune is still my number one and I would have preferred Power of the Dog) but it is an immensely likeable film I would recommend to everybody. Its easy to see how it won with the ranked system they used for this one, as its the film everybody likes. I have a hard time thinking of any wins that felt undeserved even if they werent my pick, like as much as Andrew Garfield was the winner in my heart its tough to say that Will Smith wasnt a good winner. Just a shame he spoiled his own hype to say the least.

Yeah, watch the uncensored footage. It was pretty real looking.

Besides, I doubt this kind of thing has much of an effect on ratings as its not like people know its going to happen in advance. With that said I almost wish it did because its much better than excising major awards for annoying skits.

I think 21/23, I blame BAFTA for giving original screenplay to Licorice Pizza over Belfast, I figured if Belfast lost there it would lose here. I dont think anybody got animated short.
