im asking why it would be offensive. unless the offense is at someone not using correct grammar the question stands

It's not "offensive" per se, but as we've covered multiple times in this topic, it's dehumanizing. You're free to use it like that, but people will develop an aversion to you, especially woman. Many people that regularly refer to women as "females" have a tendency to be misogynists that objectify women and see them as a prize. For that reason, they're justified in their aversion, even if you don't harbor those attitudes.

this bit was in reference to using woman

if females is dehumanizing, why is it not in that example?

woman referee seems a succinct description of said person in the job. and doesnt have the negative connotations that female has

It does suck that their really isn't a female-equivalent to "guy/guys".

dont know about the US but people dont say that here

i say girls even when referring to adults and it's never been an issue, but woudlnt work for the things i said in the OP

I think the context matters.

Female is a very clinical, almost de-humanizing term. Woman is more casual and often more relevant to everyday conversation.

On that note, I think it's absurd to get bent out of shape on the term used.

yeah i think the person who took issue with the first thing i posted had more of a point...

you cant criticise someone for using "woman" surely?

i'd never given it much thought until recently when people have said something i've said has sounded weird

first time i mentioned that you dont often see females wearing a sports shirt. the person said using females is weird, that women would be a better word

more recently i was talking to another person and said something along the lines of "you don't often see a woman referee at the top level" (talking about sport again). they said "er, WOMAN referee?" and went on to say calling her that sounded really ignorant.

so which exactly is the term thats meant to be used?

im not going to start talking totally different or anything, just surprised to see two totally opposite opinions on it

Topicx is the reason Trump got elected

X being any number of things. Political correctness, SJWs, feminism, outrage culture, cucks, Islam, BLM, and so on.

Then there are reasons like being thinking it will improve their job prospects or national security, which are valid concerns whether or not we agree Trump can implements those things.

But the first category is wheeled out a lot online. Could someone explain this to me?

Electing a president is one of the most important decisions a person will make, it affects America not only for their term but the knock on effects afterwards, but also the entire world. So a person would, you think, choose the candidate they think best placed to secure the future of the country, or if all things being equal, which candidate is most likeable and/or trustworthy

So when people say, "this article right here (link to some stupid far-left idea-piece) is the reason Trump got elected and you libs still don't get it!", it's puzzling.

I don't think all Trump voters are stupid and bigoted. I think some, and some of H.Clinton's are. However the same people who espouse the above opinion often criticize those who demonize Trump supporters. But if a person were to vote Trump because they've read enough posts and articles to irritate them, how does this not mark them as poor decision makers? The defenders of these Trump voters are themselves calling them stupid and reactionary.

Some notes to clarify:

- This isn't aimed at Trump or Hilary voters voting on policy and other actual things, but those who visit echo chambers and feel beaten down by the stupid fringe element of either side

- Both sides, one being your "MRA, neckbeard, alt-right, red pill" side and your other being your "libtard, cuck, signal virtuing SJW" side have greatly exagrerated the "threat" of the other side due to to extreme and fringe beliefs gaining more attention because they're so outlandish

And my conclusion is that Trump wasn't elected because of this annoyance over PC culture (often under 30s), but because a lot of people feel their lives are not improving and Trump has the conviction and policies to reverse this trend (often 40+ year olds)

If my conclusion is wrong then that would seem to invalidate the "Trump voters aren't stupid bigots you bully, you're just deaf to anything outside your echo chamber" belief. But I don't think my conclusion is wrong. Majority of the population don't spend their lives on the internet getting outraged at silly articles.

Agree/disagree? I think what this does mean is if the Dems want to win power back they need to target the 40+ "just wanting a better life" group, not the meme-spouting society rejects.

So bring on the usual insult buzzwords, but I think this shows a rather arrogant view that internet communities have of themselves and how much they influenced the election.

I didn't vote for either BTW

1. Not all white people are rich. I'd hazard a guess that privilege runs along socio-economic lines than racial lines.

2. With that in mind a proper tax system would be the best option, the current one is inadequate

3. This sort of idea is not the reason Trump got elected. To imply that is to imply Trump voters are all stupid fools.

If I had no urgent place to be then I'd give it up for adequate compensation

If I was rich enough I'd do my upmost to make it difficult for airlines, their shitty practices of overbooking flights deserve some kind of comeback

TLOU is one of the best games of all time. Tomb Raider is a cookie-cutter mashup of Uncharted and Far Cry without the charm of either, or the puzzles of old TR

So play TR first if you want to finish on a high note

Do you retail workers ever try passive-aggressive or overly nice tactics to see how that does down?

I don't know if they'd be pissed even more or just feel helpless because you technically were nice to them

Honestly in this day and age how is that normal? I remember back in the days when you didnt really need one but you have maybe a DVR/Setup box, a few game consoles, Android boxes etc, what are walmart thinking. I know you can buy a splitter to add more ports but it seems stupid in this day and age
