My guess is Cop #2 was a friend of the family. The kid called his parents, told them he rear-ended someone and a cop he didn't recognize was there, parents called friend cop (#2), and they all went over together. Or Cop #2 got the details of what was going on, called the parents, and they all went over together. Either is equally likely.

As for #2 overriding #1, probably a rank issue.

Were I in your place, my number one goal would be getting Cop #2 fired. And this is coming from someone with a law enforcement background. It's vermin like him that create the bulk of the hate for police in general.

Also, what Smoke said about the cameras. Walk into court, show the video, and the case is over. Unless their lawyer pulled some scummy shit that would probably get him disbarred if he was found out.

Yes, to a point. Last week a spider set up a web behind my front door, which is never used (I go out the side door where the garage is), so I left it there. It wandered off after a few days. I usually leave web builders alone, primarily because I just forget about them.

The problem are the long-legged sac spiders. They're active hunters, so they're all over the place. Before I started spraying pesticides all over my basement and around the house, I would find one every night. I once found nine of them scattered all around the first floor of my house (they clearly come up through the basement, which is not sealed).

The last straw was when the little bastards laid eggs somewhere in the house. I'm in my living room watching TV, and I notice little spots all over the ceiling. When I turned the lights on, I realized it was baby spiders. There had to be fifty of them, and it was a pain catching them to toss them outside (I always do that). I went out and bought a pesticide engineered for spiders a couple days later.

Fortunately, one trait of the species is that their first instinct is to jump when bothered, so they hop right into whatever I'm holding underneath them to catch them. I still find them once in a while, but nowhere near as often as before I starting spraying.

International standard is Monday.

Sunday was originally considered the first day of the week for religious reasons, But the whole thing from when it started (Egypt) to now is a mess. Like of a lot of things based on religion.

I've always thought of Monday as the first day. But for most of the last 20 years the only calendar I ever saw was maintenance or production schedules, which started on Monday.

12 once the remaster releases on steam. 13 never or either of the MMO's for that matter. Not really interested in 15 either.

X-2 I'll play in a few months probably. I really want to play it for the gameplay which seems to be universally praised but the rest of the game seems pretty hated. I'm afraid of it ruining the image of FFX for me but whatever I'll play it anyway.

Eventually I'll also be looking into playing the first three games. I plan on playing 3 translated NES version but idk which versions of 1 and 2 to play. Especially 2. I hear horrible things about that game.

Right now I'm probably going to play The Witcher 3 since I've been putting it off for so long.

But yeah my main goal was IV through X. They were the ones I was most interested in.

X-2 I think is a matter of perspective. It does a few things differently. I think the biggest is how you change your party. There are only three party members. So instead of changing members, you change their classes, which also changes their outfits. A lot of people seem to have felt that made it into a dress up game.

It's also mostly more lighthearted than X was. Chapter 4 is viewing scenes from cameras you place all over in chapter 3. It's also possible people hate on X-2 because it was the first direct sequel, and they feel it was only made to tide people over because 11 came out around the same time.

And if you thought X's ending was sad, X-2 can change that, but there are certain requirements that you may not meet without using a guide.

The thing that first comes to mind when I think of X-2 was an interview with the artist that did all the dressphere costumes. He said he was waiting on the designs for the default outfit for each character to use as a template for the others, and when he got them, he was shocked, particularly by Rikku's. Her default is a bikini and a skirt that's about as short as it can get without becoming a belt. So a lot of Rikku's outfits came out a bit skimpier than the other two.

Between 12 and 13, 13 I just lost interest in around chapter 7 or 8. So I don't think you'd be missing anything skipping that. Like zebatov, I skipped on 15 because of 13, just like I skipped on RE7 because of 5 and 6.
For 12, I reached a point that I decided I wanted to do side quests before continuing the main story. But I wasn't strong enough to do most of the side quests, and didn't have time to grind levels. I wound up never getting around to finishing, but I can't really say it was the game's fault.

Punched how? And for what reason? Friends punch each other sometimes just for fun. I had two friends that occasionally actually tried to stab each other just for shits and giggles (yes, they had issues, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they're both dead now, though it's been 20 years since I last heard from either of them).

Besides that, the kid dying after being punched once suggests there was an underlying medical condition that may or may not have been known. Similar to kids playing baseball getting hit in the chest by a pitch, and dying because their hearts stopped.

There are necessary details that are missing.

I'm always asleep at some point in a flight. There was one that I fell asleep sitting on the tarmac (plane hadn't even reached the runway yet), and when I opened my eyes we were a thousand feet in the air. Slept right through takeoff. Which I was ticked about, because I always like watching as the plane takes off. One of the reasons I always take a window seat. And since I did miss takeoff, and then the plane flew over cloud cover so I couldn't see the ground, I just went back to sleep.

Couldn't have watched them back then, but Empire Strikes Back released about 10 months after I was born. So technically what's considered by many to be the best Star Wars film out of all of them was released in my lifetime. I guess I would have been old enough by the time Return of the Jedi released to actually be able to watch the movie.

I did like Force Awakens, and I really liked Rogue One. But Rogue One played out pretty much exactly as I expected it to, except for the ending. Wasn't what I thought they'd go with, but I think that was a good thing.

You can see her beaver teeth clearly in the other two. Probably one of the reasons they broke up.

At least going off what TC wrote, the only thing he did was the lawsuits. All the bullshit until then has been entirely her. Don't know why he wanted to go to that school, but assuming he knew she was going there and wasn't going because of that, he shouldn't have to take into account where she's going. Stupid bitch should have been expelled from the school by now.

The only place he went wrong was suing campus security and the police for arresting him. They were just doing their jobs.

What exactly would they be regulating?

likely it would be regulation involving the airlines rights to overbook flights to ensure that flights are always full.

With the end result being flights are leaving with empty seats. So we either have to force airlines to be altruistic and fuck their bottom lines or the government (my money) has to pay them to subsidize the lost revenue.

Instead of just allowing them to do what they've been doing for however many years and letting them buy those seats back at a premium because one guy got smacked by an overzealous rent-a-cop.

exactly. government regulation is black and white, and that is just plain stupid.

there is a middle ground.

for example, offer "overbook" tickets. if the flight is already full, and you try to book, you get guaranteed vouchers/hotels when they are unable to fly you, and you walk into the airport with the knowledge that you could be bumped. its not unexpected, and a tantrum of any sort would be completely unjustified. the airline has now solved the problem and covered their asses.

i came up with that about 20 seconds after hearing this story. untied has plenty of people they can pay good money to come up with an even better idea.

Something like that was already done. The guy dragged off the plane was one of four people a computer determined needed to give up their seats (I believe it was said the computer chose them at random). Each was offered $800 as compensation, and three of them accepted. The guy dragged off refused, saying he was a doctor and needed to get home because he had patients he needed to see.

The officer that dragged him off has been placed on administrative leave, as airport authorities have stated he overstepped his bounds.

Um... yes they did. Assad has been attacking his own people with all manner of illegal weapons for years. Where the fuck have you been for almost the past decade?

not caring is where i've been tbh

besides that, russia is the ones who were supposed to be preventing this kind of things from happening. they failed. in 2013 syra was ordered to surrender any and all chemical weapons to russia.

moreover, the UN pretty much ignored the fact that they used sarin nerve gas, which, again, is illegal to use. like everywhere.

So instead of doing the, I don;t know, SANE thing, like looking for a diplomatic solution before going to fullscale war, we just go from 0 to Iraq War 2.0?

We already did the diplomatic thing. Assad was told to turn over all chemical weapons after the last time he gassed a town, which he claimed he did. Then he gassed a town again, and claimed it couldn't be his forces because he got rid of his weapons, so the rebels had to have done it. He's also been using chlorine gas for a while.

How many times will you insist on the "diplomatic thing" before you realize Assad doesn't give a shit about anything besides maintaining control of Syria? The only way to keep someone like him in line is to threaten that control. And the only way to do that with him is to take away the means by which he maintains that control, which he will never give up willingly.

As far as I know those missiles were directed against ISIS and other Islamist groups operating in Syria; this is the first time the US directly targeted Syrian government forces.

Specifically, the chemical weapons production facilities and the depots at the airfields where they're stored. Just so it's clear what the targets were.

that's the point. bug the fuck out of them. i don't know how this world got to where it is, where the employer holds all the fucking power, but it's not supposed to be that way

they're supposed to need us, not the other way around. do whatever it takes to fuck them over and play dirty by any means. simply calling them every day after an interview is harmless but can go a long way

still, i don't usually call more than once because i can't be bothered, but it's a good idea

Wishful thinking. That only applies when the economy is growing extremely rapidly, and companies can't find enough people to fill all the new positions. This usually occurs when the economy is heading into a bubble. Which is always followed by a crash and massive layoffs a few years later.

Calling them to the point of annoying them will make them remember you, but for the wrong reasons.

This spells out the entire problem. You're dealing with people, and different people have different preferences. There is no standard for hiring practices, and each company does it their own way. Sometimes even different people within the same company do it different ways.

To some extent perhaps, but there are reasonable time frames for checking in and reminding people you still exist that almost every company and person under the sun would be okay with. Granted, you'd still lose brownie points with companies expecting you to be more assertive (or certain jobs, since sales supposedly looks for assertive behaviors), but you don't hurt yourself at the same time.

That paragraph was more of a general statement, rather than referring specifically to call-back timeframe. Like I said, it seems one to three weeks is typical for when to expect an update.

You should always give at least a few days. Most of the time, you're one of a number of people being interviewed, and they won't make a decision until they've spoken to everyone (unless they either really like you or really hate you). After two weeks without hearing anything, it's likely safe to contact them to ask for an update, unless they specifically stated it would take longer. If you go another two or three weeks after that and still don't hear anything, it may be time to move on.

Though as Zues said, sales jobs may be different. I don't go anywhere near any kind of sales position. I once went to a briefing for a sales position at an insurance company out of curiosity. When I told friends and family about it, they laughed at the idea of me being in sales, because I'm definitely not a people person. That's why I stick to machines. I can always hit them when they don't do what I want (I actually once fixed a machine by smacking it with a hammer).

I also do the pocket pat, but usually only when I'm away from home, to make sure I don't leave anything behind in a public place. Leaving home, I always notice the wallet, and I'm not going anywhere without the keys (I can get back in the house if I forget them). It's the phone I have a problem with right now. I finally broke down and got a smartphone only three months ago, and it's bigger than any of my previous phones, enough so that it's not exactly comfortable to keep in my pocket. So I carry it out and usually leave it sitting on the center console in my car. This has resulted in my walking out without it, and leaving it in the car when I get home (sometimes until the next day, which should tell you how often I use it).

I also do the skimmer check. Haven't found one yet.

Don't have to worry about anything being left on, as I live alone, so nothing gets turned on unless I do it myself, and I always turn things off when I'm done. Same goes for the windows, which are generally only opened when I'm home for the day. I don't bother turning off the network router. It would be a pain to do that every time. And there isn't much point, since it sits right next to the DVR, which will never be turned off, as that defeats part of the purpose of having one (the other part is just so I don't have to sit through commercials).

Honestly, I don't know if I really benefit from job search advice because a lot of it is so contradictory. The things that aren't contradictory are usually just common-sense, like don't have typos in your resume. I can understand the inconsistencies in responses I've seen to this particular question because you could look at it in different ways.

Some employers might see follow-ups as desperate and impatient, but others might see it as showing initiative and assertiveness. Some might find it annoying, but others may be disorganized and need the reminders. Some might not know how to make a hiring decision and base it on how "interested" the candidates are, which can come in the form of stupid criteria like how aggressively they follow up.

This spells out the entire problem. You're dealing with people, and different people have different preferences. There is no standard for hiring practices, and each company does it their own way. Sometimes even different people within the same company do it different ways.

One question you always need to ask at the end of an interview is when a follow-up interview may be, or even just ask what the next step is. This prompts the interviewer to give you an idea of how long you might be waiting before they call you again, whether it's to say yes or no. That time is usually one to three weeks, unless they have a lot of people to interview (unlikely unless it's a very large company).

After two weeks, I would be considering calling to ask for an update. If they turn you down because of that, they were probably going to turn you down anyway. Just be careful how you word it.

acesxhigh posted...
I don't think you should ever follow up. If you are laid back with the whole process, you will attract hiring managers who are the same. They may end up being your boss.
