Lot of people seem to think poaching is just shooting rabbits on the king's land.

Every so often things go right for consumers whether you believe it or not.
We have a publicly regulated co-op here. It was set up by the county because every private telco fled the area when deregulation took effect.
They offer phone/tv/internet. Most towns in the county had 100Mb fiber installed over the last three years. Our house currently has to suffer 10DSL because the railroad won't allow anyone to dig underneath the tracks
I use anywhere from nearly nothing to 20Gb a day and there are no caps.
