This is going to sound overly harsh but to me CT feels like well-made RPG Maker game with a great soundtrack. It's fun while playing but it doesn't stick with you whatsoever after you finish. I think it's a lazy choice when there's a ton of RPGs that both aspire to be more and succeed at being more. Well, I have to respectfully disagree with the not sticking part. Sometimes the less complex storylines and gameplay do more for me just by their overall execution. I've played about 90% of the games on this list and beaten at least half of them, and I can still go back to Chrono Trigger at any time and enjoy it a lot for what it is. I can't say the same about most of the others, but that's just me. This being a list created by several people (many of which probably didn't play most of them themselves, a post by one of their writers on another forum even alludes to this) means that it was always destined to have issues and glaring omissions. |
