And nice list Haino, been dying to see the Mekas for such a long time, but considering its length I never find the time to watch it in one sitting. Same goes for Tarr's Satantango, which I embarrassingly haven't seen yet. --- |

| madadude 04/20/17 11:52:25 PM #12 | I find it really interesting that the none of the three most likely candidates for president come from the two major French parties (The Republicans and The Socialists). Is this the norm for presidential elections? Just seems so strange that the two major candidates come from the National Front (growing to be a major party but still has very small presence in government) and Macron running under a centrist party he created himself. Can't believe the French are so nonpartisan. If only America could say the same. --- |

She is quite likely to get the most votes but not the majority with all the candidates in play, and in basically every poll I have seen where she faces 1v1 with another candidate in the run-off, she loses. --- |

The major well known accolades (Oscars, SAG, Globes, BAFTA) are all given by industry or press, not critics. It was just a shitty low budget horror film. So no nothing I paid directly to see, I do my best to not see bad movies in the theater. I saw probably 75-100 in the theater last year (not counting stuff at film festivals) and the only ones I would say without a doubt are bad are Suicide Squad, Alice Through the Looking Glass and The BFG (also saw Hands of Stone, Train to Busan, and Coming Through the Rye in a theater but all were at festivals and all were bad) --- |

Solaris is nearly perfect (but I believe all of Tarkovsky's films besides Nostalgia are). Perfectly linking the scientific elements of Lem's novel with Tarkovsky's perfect vision, creating a film that explores the emotions of humanity, what it means to be human and what it means to feel love, better than any film I've ever seen I believe. I would highly recommend Kyoto though. When I went to Japan I was in Tokyo for 3 days and Kyoto for 3 days and definitely thought Kyoto was fantastic. --- |
