Not... really. New game plus is exactly what it denotes, playing a new game plus added features. I'm not gonna remember dialogue choices I made for a hundred different scenes and social links. I'd want to know what each one says in the moment. That's not my reason to replay the game, for me there are much better reasons like maxing social links or discovering new dungeons I might have missed the first time around.

Not even her design is any good, she's very unremarkable. Both she and Vaan could have been the voice of the actual people, the commoners, to counter balance the other party members all being royalty and nobility, and the contrast could have made for interesting dialogue and scenes.

But alas this is a jrpg company we're talking about, that level of writing and story telling is not their forte, and that's ok I can live with that. But why design Vaan like Victoria Beckham with painted on abs... if they had gone for a more Aladdin street urchin look it would have made him better looking and more relatable.

Everyone was ugly in 2 it's well known that the character models were super ugly in trying to be "realistic" instead of anime proportions.

I always hated how they kept changing shion's design since I kind of liked her glasses look, filling in the typical clumsy ditzy yet genius scientist archetype of animes. The 3rd one's design wasn't as bad as the 2nd but they gave her fur for crying out loud, how tasteless. By that point they all looked like current japanese teenagers pop star fashion of the early 21st century instead of the 40th+ century they were supposed to be (yes I know fashion is cyclical :P )

Although... Why would you want to quote unquote "play" xenosaga again, it's kind of a disappointing trilogy. They're short rpgs of little substance, heck the first one is only 20 hours long; I've played action adventure titles longer than that.

And nothing even happens in the game. Especially the first 2, then the 3rd one quickly tries to wrap everything up and it's like reading the first chapter of a book then skipping to the end (which is kinda what happened)


I think Xenogears alone was longer than all 3 combined, and even it is an unfinished game with a half realized concept.

The guy behind these games should have really focused on doing just ONE game with a complete story instead of automatically biting off more than he can chew and trying to design a concept for 6 games ahead of time.


I say all this because I really feel like there was something there, there could have been something really good out of these games.

I mean besides how great a video game villain Albedo is, who no one ever brings up in the discussion of best video game villains because no one played this series.

I mean, with Cars 3 especially, yeah. They're just cars with faces on them.

All the toy boxes have cover art of the movies and consumable goods tend to have one of those "in theaters now!" labels next to the cars. It's another form of advertisement for the movies, so I wonder why they don't seem to work on the masses.

It's a slower-paced, somewhat improv-ish Seinfeld, without some of the grating sitcom production values (e.g. laugh track).

Instead they do long pauses with the handheld camera on the person's face or cue the music as another way of indicating to the audience that it's time to laugh.

I've come to regard it as one of the greatest animated movies of all time and essentially the start of Dreamwork's very own renaissance, after a period of pretty garbage movies following Shrek 2.

It's funny, it's smart, it actually shows reverence to ancient Chinese arts (ie kung-fu) and is just pretty damn likable, not to mention having sympathetic characters, gorgeous art, and and a great soundtrack.

Plus, it even has 2 sequels that actually build on the original, and the second movie is particularly memorable for its villain. There is so much about the way the story is portrayed and developed that I could praise, but for now I'll just say I really appreciate the directors and everyone involved in making this fantastic movie. It's been nearly a decade and is on tv so I just felt like sharing how highly I've come to regard the movie, and not simply as just an animated family movie.

I can't remember if I mentioned her yet but Morgan Rodriguez is another great newcomer to the scene.

Cars 2 - 500 million

Cars 3 - only 250 million in the past month aginst a 175 million budget? Damn.

I know that for Cars 2 at least, Pixar made over a billion from merchandising alone so the actual movie's gross was not a concern. I wonder if it's the same with cars 3 because while it's too early to say for sure, but isn't that a low box office number when a month has passed. Since most movies get all the returns from the very first few weeks.

I've always remarked on the irony between hentai and live action japanese porn. With hentai the women describe everything that's happening to them in the course of sex, the whole hips moving on their own, feeling good inside, etc that's always super hilarious and erotic in its absurdity.

But with live action japanese porn? The women never talk at all, just whining like a race car engine and crying and being incredibly unappealing. They don't even say a few words most of the time like kimchi or whatever.
