Patients consult doctors for diagnosis and treatment of what ails them. Of course they would give advice on their treatment. But this isn't about that. The point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't matter what a doctor or staff says (regarding the relaxing thing and not the diagnosis or treatment). There are patients that just refuse to be consoled or comforted. They find it offensive and intrusive. This is because the patient already has a preconceived notion that doctors and staff don't know how to make them comfortable and that the phrases they are spouting out are just scripted lines and are insincere. And for the staff's point of view, they won't bother to try harder because they think the patient would react the same way. I did assist my friends from the university in terms of dropping them off and picking them up from home. I also tutored kids (somewhat). The money I earned from these were mostly just "allowances" and not deemed as salary. So, car-pool service (Allowance): 2 yrs Grade school tutor for English: 1 yr I worked: Bank Loans Executive: 3 yrs Finance Analyst: 2 yrs Senior Finance Analyst: 6 yrs (the Senior part is just a title and a bit of an upgrade on the salary and role band.) >.> --- "Ladies don't start fights, but they can finish them." -Marie, Aristocats |

Many names have been passed down with this in mind. Parents select a name that denotes strength, fortitude, dignity and/or other virtues. A child's name is the first gift that a parent can bestow upon them as they enter the world. Thus, it should be a name that keeps the child's best interest in mind. Strange/unique names or names based on the parent's sense of humor or sentimentality can have adverse effects on a child's development socially (bullying/ negative stigma etc etc).... At often times, parents who name their child strange names often do it because of their own strange reasons. But they are mostly never about the child itself. But also look at it from their point of view. What ELSE can they say? I mean, really? If you saw a child having a scrape on the leg, the decent part of you would try to console the child; even if it means saying things like: "Ssh....it's going to be all right." or something along those lines. It's either they tell you to relax and don't stress or if you prefer that they don't say anything at all. After all, they don't want to be in there with you any more than you do. So it's not just about you. They don't like saying those things to patients because at times, patients take offence and lash out at them for nothing. I know because I have friends who confide in me regarding these things; nurses and doctors. We just need to be more patient and try to see the positive side of things rather than trying to find offence in everything....
