@pinky0926 posted...
I dunno, it's like you guys are indirectly admitting that you're inexperienced in the job market, and at the same time saying "I know better than the employers who have been doing this shit for decades".

Fact is, you would do exactly the same thing in their shoes. If you owned a business and one of your primary goals was risk mitigation, you'd choose the employee with experience over the one without, all other things being equal. If they have the ability to pick one of 100 candidates out of a list then obviously they'll choose the strongest one.

Jobs don't have to be easy or hard, but any job performed by someone with experience will go smoother. You get a 28 year old barista with 5 years experience to run a cafe in rush hour VS an 18 year old who's never done it before, you'll quickly figure out that there's a lot more to the job than making cups of coffee. That 28 year old will work faster, will need less training, will handle difficult customers better, and will be far less likely to do something disastrous and costly.

As far as the "you need 10 years experience for this entry level job" thing goes, I've read a lot of memes about it but never actually seen it happen to anything close to that level of ridiculousness.

No, only dumb people would do this, if it were me personally, I'd pick the guy with no experience, because then i can teach him the right way to do things, rather the guy who's developed shortcuts, and possibly the wrong way to do things for years
