Actually, I think it might be better if you DIDN'T read the books first.

From all the trailers I've seen, the movie has deviated from the books so much that it might as well be a standalone movie.

Which means you won't get that annoying "That's not how it went in the books!" thought running through your head every 5 minutes while watching.

So I stumbled upon another gem of a manga today.

It's not often that Japan makes manga or anime that relates to american culture; much less, the old west. But I found this:

t9ZuK7X

It's about a guy in the wild west, a skilled gunslinger, and renowned sheriff. But, he only got his skills because he thought ladies would love it and he wanted to be popular with women!

It's pretty good.

Have they explicitly said they wouldn't be translating it anymore? There are plenty of licensed series that still get scans.

Yup. Jag, the main translator (and lord of scanlating memes) in charge of the manga, has stated that he's gonna stop.

There is a ray of hope though since Jaimini's Box Scans (who are doing Black Clover, One Piece, MHA and others) have expressed interest in picking up the series.

Nooooooooo!

Kaguya-sama got licensed!

I mean, it's good that the manga is getting more recognition in the west, and that the mangaka is getting even more money to support his work...

But that means no fan translations of new chapters anymore!

I have to actually WAIT until they get enough chapters to make a tankoubon before they localize it. And even then... I don't have the money to BUY it when it does come out!

Hopefully another group will decide to pick it up despite licensing, but the chances of that are very slim.

Woo! As long as there's no unforeseen circumstances, my WiiU should arrive by tomorrow afternoon.

I already bought the 4 main games I want to play, namely Wind Waker, Bayonetta 2, Breath of the Wild, and Xenoblade X.

What other games should I look out for? I'm open to suggestions, including Wii games as well. (I have Skyward Sword, Okami, Xenoblade, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Rhythm Heaven Fever)

Although, I've just been adding stuff over the years, and haven't bothered taking down stuff I've dropped or are on-hold due to scanlator troubles, so a conservative estimate would be at about 90 something series.

@T0ffee I don't usually watch or read Horror themed things, I usually go for Action, Comedy & adventure type things. Not that I scare easily, its just, I find horror things usually are uninteresting or just kind of unoriginal. They have the potential to be amazing though, like Uzumaki.

I find that horror in manga form instead of movie form tends to be more sophisticated, because they can't just realie on jump scares or spooky music, they have to actually be good & find other, more original ways, to build suspense & such.

But I really enjoyed Uzumaki, what other Jungi Ito manga (Or just horror manga in general) do you like?

Yup. 100% agree with you in terms of horror in manga. It's also why SO MANY mangakas JUST CAN'T GET IT RIGHT. They either rely on pointless action sequences, too much ecchi, or just plain inept at writing a good atmosphere.

Basically, All of Junji Ito's works (except of course his joke series "Junji Ito's Dog/Cat Diary") are worth a read if you're into GOOD horror.

Other than him, I really don't read horror mangas all that much though. I guess you can say I've been spoiled by him. Whenever a "horror" manga gets dumb, or too actiony, I lose interest.

The only ones I've read through were Homonculus by Yamamoto Hideo (which is more psychological mindfuck than horror), and Monster by Urusawa Naoki (which is more mystery thriller).

Has anyone read Uzumaki? Its a really good horror manga about a town that's... haunted, you could say, by spirals. Its a really unique idea & after just reading the first 2 or 3 issues I just had to see how it ended. It was a very creative manga, most other horror manga, movies, games & what not, are so predictable or uninspired, Its usually either zombies, psychos or ghosts, never actual spirals. I never really knew what to expect with a plot as unique as Uzumaki's though.

Do you know of any other mangas like that?

You've basically read one of the best of the best in terms of horror mangas.

Junji Ito is widely regarded, both in japan and overseas, as a master horror storyteller.

Really, if you liked one of his works, you'll likely like them all.

Lots of world building in the chapter. I honestly expected it to be either some time in the future or a different world, but having it actually be earth but with a hidden underworld is a very unique twist on things, at least when it comes to manga.

I Googled Grand Blue & it sounds great! I think I am definitely gonna read this one. It has 36 issues right? That's a great size for a manga, not to small, not to big, I can easily get it & read the whole thing, as opposed to some manga that have over 500 issues & take months. (Not that I don't like big or Mangas though!)

It's 37 now, and it's still ongoing.

Also, it's a monthly manga so chapters are 2-3 times as long as weeklies. Sometimes going up to 60 pages per chapter. So 37 monthly chapters would be akin to around 90+ weekly chapters (if the average for weekly chaps were 12-14 pages)

The Wii U is a bad investment right now, honestly. It bombed and lacks software, but the value has yet to seriously decline because the Switch is still pretty new and many haven't upgraded yet for one reason or another. Most of the games aren't going to be difficult to track down a year or so from now when the bottom completely falls out. If you need a new Nintendo device, you're better off going with a 3DS than any of the console options, and this from somebody who doesn't really like handhelds.

I already bought and placed an order. :/

I mean, I could cancel it and wait a few months, but how long do you think it'll be before it gets a significant price drop?

As far as I know, it took a relatively long time for it to drop down from nearly $400 for the deluxe set down to $200.

I posted this on the Wii U board but I'm posting it again here since I want a few more eyes on this.

Is it better to just trade in my Wii at gamestop or should I sell it on amazon or ebay? It's the deluxe black one with the MotionPlus controller.

It's in pretty pristine condition. Other than some dust, there's no wear or scratch marks on it.

If I trade it in at gamestop, I'll only get at most $30 for it. However, I don't see any listings like this on amazon or ebay so I don't know how much it's really worth.

And while on that subject, where IS the best place to get a Wii U? Gamestop is having a sale right now where a refurb 32GB is only around $200. Other places have refurbs at around $270. That being said, I'm kinda hesitant after reading a couple of stories about gamestop's refurbs being shoddy. Should I go for it?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I just stumbled upon three different isekai titles, two of them revolve around the protagonist being a "villager" class, and the other one has the protag immediately inherit the throne of a country after he got summoned.

With those three, the number of isekai mangas I'm reading has jumped up to 15. That's FIFTEEN different, still publishing manga and all of them revolve around being summoned/reincarnated to another world.

I think I have a problem.

After a quick Google, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED on DS sound like a really great game! I can't really tell if its a turn based tactical RPG like the GBA games, or if this DS title uses a realtime action RPG battle system though...

I see there's a bunch of other Super Robot Taisen games on DS, anyone have any experience with em?

The only experience I have with SRT (and SRW) games is Endless Frontier for the DS. (EXCEED is the sequel to Frontier).

It's actually a standalone spin-off of the main SRW games. Instead of being a tactical grid-based rpg, Frontier is more of a traditional dungeon crawling, world map traversing, random-encounter battle JRPG.

Speaking of english patches, it looks like the team working on Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED, is finally translating the whole game!

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for ANY news about this game. Endless Frontier was one of my favorite DS games, and I was super bummed out when I learned we wouldn't get the sequel.

Can't wait to finally play this game!

Any way, we're getting abit off topic, sorry TC.

lol, there really isn't any sort of rules about what we discuss here, don't worry! :P

It's more or less become a hangout for the same group of peeps who started out discussing anime and stuff, and then started discussing whatever.

Oh and welcome!

If you do get a Wii U, I've got a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U that's been sitting around for years (I don't have a Wii U), so you could have it. I was gonna do a giveaway for it, but I don't mind either way.

Hey thanks man! That's pretty awesome of you!

I remembered that the Wii U also has Virtual console and is backwards compatible with the Wii. I've always wanted to play Metroid prime, so I guess now would be a good time to get into that.

Also, I was looking around at stuff for the Wii U and I remembered about that SMT x FE game, Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

Anyone here played it? What do you think?

Woo! I got a pretty big payday from housesitting for a month. I got around $300.

Now I have to wonder which console I'm gonna get.

I really want a WiiU since I really really want to play Xenoblade, Bayonetta, and Wind Waker. And if I do that, I might as well get Breath of the Wild as well. But is it worth buying a console for just 4 games?

I wanna get Animal Crossing and that Happy Home Designer game, Tomodatchi Life, Harvest Moon, Xenoblade Chronicles. That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now but I'm open to suggestions.

Okay, well, I don't have any of those. You know that the most recent "true" Harvest Moon games are called Story of Seasons, right?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_of_Seasons_(series)

but why though

It's a bit of a long story, but basically; up until a certain point, the Harvest Moon series were co-created by the companies Marvelous Entertainment and Natsume.

Natsume decided to split off to create their own version of the game, but managed to hold on to the rights to the "Harvest Moon" name of the franchise.

Now, any "Harvest Moon" title including and past Skytree Village is now Natsume's minecraft-ish/farming sim game, and is totally different from the traditional harvest moon style.

However Marvelous is still making the traditional "Harvest Moon" games, only now, the series has been renamed "Story of Seasons."

So if you're looking for authentic new Harvest Moon games on the 3DS, look for Story of Seasons.

New Promised Neverland!

Even though, the kids seems to be okay, I still don't trust those two "helpful" demons.

But hey, looks like next chapter is gonna be a lore/world-building one, so it's gonna be good!

... Adventure Time is still on the air? Color me impressed.

I thought it finished. I think he meant newer as in near the end

I actually didn't know if it was finished or not, so I googled it.

Apparently it's on its last season now and it's set to end by 2018.

Oh looks like MHA has started up again.

I kinda want to start watching it now, even though I told myself I'd binge it when the season ends.

Started reading a series called Kiss X Death.

It's basically Parasyte but with more tiddies.

The setup is, 5 alien criminals were banished to earth. The alien's species, which are only about two inches high, regard earth as an inhospitable place for them, so in order to survive they need to bond with other local lifeforms.

The criminals were sentenced to be forcibly bonded to lower class lifeforms (like mice and toads) and exiled from their homeworld, however they managed to slip from their jailer, kill him, and hijack of group of middle school girls. (it's also important to note that the girls were rather... homely looking. Definitely not waifu material)

What they didn't realize though is that their jailer survived, and managed to find a host body as well. Now he can enact his revenge and finish his mission by capturing the criminals once and for all.

Oh and about the tiddies part. Apparently the aliens can alter and power up the lifeforms they bond with so all those girls got UPGRADED like DAMN! And there's even a loli with an actual ass too!

Oh and to further complicate matters, the guy the jailer bonded with was your typical otaku dweeb only with an EXTREME fear of women. Like, debilitating, faint-when-he-sees-panties, amount. So yeah, that'll be an issue when they have to fight, and doubly so since the aliens live in the host's mouth and the only way the jailer can extract them is through direct contact. i.e. kissing.

What endings did you go for @T0ffee? I went Giselle and then Hilda. Rusty and beehive made ng+ a breeze.

My first run I went with Sakuya Then when I hit NG+ I actually saved before the final hit on the final boss so I could see all the endings.

I know I could have just youtubed to see all of them, but there's something about seeing them all yourself that feels very satisfying.

Stella Glow is one of my all time favorite 3DS games, heck, it might even be one of my favorite games period.

It's so good, but it's criminally underrated.

If you like the Luminous Arc series on the DS, you'll like this one.
