Apparently China was upset that the waterfall doesn't work year round so they installed a pipe and pump in spring water now so that tourists can see "the waterfall" year-round.

My guess is this is part of their "Content Authenticity Initiative" which is designed to combat deepfakes. Adobe wants to embed an encrypted chunk into every file they produce that tracks exactly what was done so that they can certify the media for public consumption, with the ultimate goal of having a server people can hit to validate whether an image is authentic or not based on the audit trail of the encrypted file.

That seems like something they would get sued over.

If I'm reading it right, its just access. They're not claiming ownership over anything, but saying you need to consent to them being able to remotely analyze any file produced in their software.

The first is fun and a great introduction into a magical world. Things are surprising, some things are expected and gratifying, and learning the mysterious characters is fun.

That's how the books were, though. The first book was 309 pages. The last was 759. As the kids in the books got older they started having all the same relationship and interpersonal problems as other high schoolers..

Go through the basic combo trials for each character and pick the one that feels the most fun. At the end of the day, people can give you all sorts of advice about simple versus complex play styles, but you actually want to like playing the character first and foremost so that you keep playing and get better.

When you're here, just do it.

In an opinion released Monday, the judges ruled that the Fearless Funds Fearless Strivers Grant Contest is substantially likely to violate the provisions of Title 42 of the US Code, which ensures equal rights under the law and prohibits the use of race when awarding and enforcing contracts.

In the ruling, the appellate court ordered a federal court in Georgia to enter a preliminary injunction blocking the fund from closing its grant application process while the case continues to be litigated.

It also states that the funds program is unlikely to be protected by the First Amendment.

We definitely have different ideas of what "hilariously broken" means. Enemy Skill has 3-4 good skills, rest are pretty meh.

Atb ward + yuffie doppelganger + atb materia + enemy skill breaks the game.

Doppelganger copies everything, which means double plasma discharge for easily filling the party ATB, double the soothing wind which keeps your party at full health all the time (although I prefer double prayer), double damage on self destruction,etc.

Or doppleganger + double cast ward. Get 8 comet casts for the price of 2.

I wouldn't mind the length if it felt like the time spent and rewards were worth it but it reeks of overbalancing and for someone like me who loves that aspect of Final Fantasy games where you can become as OP as possible, it kills it for me. Don't think I could ever replay it. It was a slog.

See, I kind of feel the opposite. I feel like way too many good items are locked behind side quests to the point where they feel mandatory. Like, not only are all the best summons locked behind world content, but you need to do multiple pieces of world content in each area to even get them up to full strength. And then you have to do all the Moogle huts because that's how you unlock points for your pseudo-sphere grid. And then you have to do all the world intel if you want the hidden summon. And don't forget to do all of the landmarks so you can unlock the region boss so that you can get a new ability for enemy skill which is hilariously broken by endgame. Then, to add insult to injury, the game loves to throw a character's weapon in the highest rank of mini games, forcing you to grind through it because if you miss a weapon you miss a unique ability.

The joke character would be Job who only gets negative effects but gets a free top tier item each successful lap.

Solomon's unique kart ability would be taking an item from another player only instead of just stealing it you and that player both get the item but it only works at half power.

I think one thing people need to remember when talking about Pixar is that this is the same issue with game companies: you're associating the quality with the brand, not the individuals. John Lasseter is gone. The animators who made Toy Story 1 in their 30s are now in their 60s. They stopped being an independent studio and became an official part of Disney nearly 2 decades ago. The select group of superstars that made the studio what it is are mostly gone or retired and the ones that have stayed are going to be too senior to have doing things like basic writing duty. What's left is a prestigious name wholly owned by a company more known nowadays for running franchises into the ground than setting new trends. People need to just stop putting Pixar on a pedestal, because it's not the same Pixar that made Toy Story 1 thirty years ago.

Given all that we know now about how obscenely dangerous the original show was and how badly people got injured, I can't see this modern-day reboot being anything close to as entertaining as the original.

Elemental was neither a mass appeal film or a flop. While elemental has a poor launch weekend because they kept it in theaters foe months (instead of quickly sending it to +) positive word of mouth actually lead to it being successful.

What? Elemental was sold via its trailers as yet another generic Romeo and Juliet story. You think they were trying to do something niche and artsy by making a movie where a fire character falls in love with a water character? Really?

Regardless of what you think of him as a person, the pixar that everybody grew up with died when John Lasseter left.

Is there any franchise worse than Ghostbusters at doing this? Even going all the way back to Ghostbusters 2, each movie has to make the whole world forget about catastrophic paranormal activity so that they can all go back to being schlubby losers that have to get back together to save the day.

Cool. My only save is literally right before the final boss because I didn't want to have to start over to do the DLC. Now I just need to hope the state of my game world (because of where I am in the story) isn't too fucked up to trigger the DLC entrance.

It's a tradition where it was intended for young audiences to yell the attack names with the character. The tradition began with Mazinger Z, which is considered the first Super Robot anime. The producers of the show felt that if the main character, Kouji Kabuto, shouted out the attack names each time the mecha did them, then it would give the target viewers, who were aged around 3 to 10 at the time, the ability to literally join along in the fun.
The logic behind this is if the kids were to directly interact with a show they already liked, then they'd like it even more and would stick with the show in the long run. Needless to say, the strategy worked, and literally all other mecha anime in the 70's (sans First Gundam in late, late '79) copied the trend.
Thus, the tradition was born and still anime shows, regardless of whether they are mecha themed or not, use it, regardless of their target audience.

Inside a hollowed out book at the library, preferably a book that ties in to the ARG and ideally with specifics words / phrases highlighted to act as the next clue or additional information needed to access the drive (like making it encrypted and the passcode is in the book).

Why would I need a weapon switching mechanic when my weapon already switches between axe and sword? But yeah, I think most players already had a pocket bowgun. Now they're literally going to have a pocket bowgun. I'm not fond of ranged weapons, so I'll likely be carrying two melee weapons around most of the time. For me though, Switchaxe already does everything I'd want to do in a hunt. I guess Lance or Gunlance pairs well with it since Switchaxe has no real means of defense.

The new monsters look cool.

You got to think bigger than that. Like being able to bring two different elements to a dual hunt where you have to take down two monsters. Or bringing a hunting horn for solo hunts so you can buff yourself right before switching to your main weapon or healing so you can patch yourself up every time the monster runs without having to waste potions. Or maybe you want to bring one blunt and one blade weapon with part breaker for farming runs so you can more easily cut the tails and break armor in a single go.

Hell, you could keep an "oh shit" weapon that's gemmed out to be more powerful when you're at low health that you just keep in your back pocket in case a hunt is going particularly poorly and you need to take a risk to have any shot at finishing it.

In fact, once you factor gems into the equation it gets even crazier than that. You could have a weapon with a lot of gem slots that you only carry around so you can temporarily get geologist level 3 or something for farming ore and Bone piles before the main hunt.

SH2, luckily, was never subtle. At least visually. Now if characters start telling James that it's weird how all the monsters he sees are sexual... that'll a different issue.

The little "combat dodges" give me Homecoming flashbacks, but at least they didn't turn him into some kind of CQC specialist. That being said, I know the gun reticle is going to piss people off because it'll make shooting too easy.

On the horror side the game looks great and I love the little nods to Jacob's Ladder in the way the nurse heads twitch. I'm a bit worried by how they keep using audio stings to let us know something scary happened. Otherwise the ambient audio sounds great and the voice acting is solid (although James' face mocap is kind of weak - there were too many moments he should have been horrified but he was just kind of blankly watching).

My guess is it'll be an 8/10 game that casual fans love and hardcore fans rate a 5/10 out of anger and spite because of how things have changed.

So I saw someone saying there's rumors that this is open world? As in... you don't pick up a quest to go kill a Rathian... you actually need to explore, learn where Rathians live, and then go to that region and look for clues which will give you the quest on the spot if you want it. Anyone know if there's any truth to that? Because if they're really emphasizing the "hunt" part in a massive zone with biomes you naturally explore and unlock that sounds incredible, but it also sounds like way, way more than the MH devs have ever attempted.

It comes with a sling that can carry a back-up weapon, so you're able to bring two weapons with you into any hunt.

Hooray! Now I no longer have to struggle between going big raw damage hammer and playing the Meta with something that's good for dealing elemental damage. Or I could bring a cutting weapon and a blunt weapon for maximum part breaking. Or hunting horn and Hammer for two times the spin to win.
