Feels bad but I've done everything I can. He hasn't been to work in three weeks. I got him three days bereavement approved, then I started using his sick/personal time, and when he burned through that I started scheduling him for vacation (with his approval). He still has about 6 days of vacation time left but my boss said enough is enough. If he doesn't show up to work by his next scheduled shift they will consider it job abandonment and terminate him.

I get it, I love my cat, but damn dude. Just getting bereavement for that is a blessing. 11 year employee about to have his life upended over a pet dying.

I don't do anything that wouldn't be against even the strictest HOA rules at my house(aside from letting yard work slip a bit at times when I can't do it myself, but I hire someone to do it in that case). I suppose someone could complain about the noise from light woodworking I do once in a while as a hobby.

Still would never be caught dead in "bubble wrap." Also in the event of bad neighbors, HOA can very easily empower them to fuck you over too depending on the rules.

So, I stand by my stance. HOAs can fuck off.

Edit: I also lived inside a city for my entire childhood, and I'm just waiting to move back to one or close to. Still will hold that view.
