But I'm pretty sure artificial difficulty is when like, the enemies just have more stats. Artificial difficulty would be giving the boss twice as much health and making it do double damage without any other changes. Having the boss summon minions is actually "real" difficulty.

It is not, no. That is basic balancing. Artificial difficulty would be things like having a poor camera system causing the fight to be more difficult or having your victory based on RNG.

Immaterial. You didn't say Elden Ring, you didn't say Dark Souls. You said FromSoft. The fact that your own words can explicitly be used in place of my statement was always the point: people whining about people calling for an easy mode can trivially have their words argue against the addition of a hard mode under the exact same logic yet never do sheerly by virtue of an over-inflated sense of elitism.

And you were not the one going on about "artistic vision", no. That was others. Not every one of my pointing out of the hypocrisies was leveed at you in particular.

Moreso the third part (post 101), where you made the argument that adding new difficulties wasn't a great idea specifically because they could screw it up (and as a global thing, not as something specific to Lies of P's specifically not doing a good job). After which you explicitly called out FromSoft as people who under no circumstances should change the core difficulty and that people should specifically use in-game tools to "balance" FromSoft games. Quite literally an argument against what they did here.

Generally speaking it would be closer to the latter. 200 yards is the same distance that chickens are in silhouette shooting (IIRC) and, when my dad did competitive shooting, there would be pretty consistently a non-trivial amount of people with 50% (or less) accuracy. If people going to actual shooting competitions aren't consistently making the shot then it isn't too unreasonable to say that they are pretty above-average.

Yeah I think that is totally fair. Despite that reason sony gave I think we all know that in truth they also want to nudge playstation players even more towards that all-digital future. A future they would definitely be salivating to finally make happen.

"Nudge" is a pretty weak word to use considering that they basically killed off the Vita by trying to do away with physical media. Sony is practically putting all of their eggs in the digital basket every chance they get.

Yes actually, fans do shorten it to frequently. I see it a lot in trade requests when people want to trade for certain things in certain balls. Pokemon caught in Beast Balls for example, people say Urubo, or Ultra Ball.

If developers' artistic endeavors are indicated by the difficulty of a game at launch then them adding a new difficulty is them abandoning their artistic endeavors for the sake of people sobbing about personal grievances. As has been repeatedly brought up adding or changing difficulty is a slight against their vision, and this is them having their vision dumped on.

Dang, even FromSoft capitulated to the whiners.
