It's just so insane to me that instead of trying to pin autism on something like micro plastics they go after acetaminophen. Even if it's not a cause, less micro plastics in babies is something nobody would be opposed to.

that would require regulations on industry and coordinated federal action to enforce it. so much easier to blame it on individual choices.

What I saw was a very obvious attempt by the NYPD to appear competent after an embarassing high profile failure to protect a rich guy by planting a gun and a "I did it btw I also love cops" note in his backpack after turning off all their body cameras and taking it out of sight of anyone.

This has always been a major point of contention in Rockstar games, the missions in their open world games do not use the open world at all. I think they're often fine as linear third-person shooters go but it's been a thing for a long time.

There is a sizeable contingent of socialists and communists who are very pro-gun. Not saying that's what this kid was, but it's not really a sure way to tell what direction someone leans.

the only time I went to a trader joe's was this summer because it was the only eatery within walking distance of a convention center and they all gave me looks because i was still in cosplay. also their chicken and dumplings was mid. not terrible but not great.

RDR2 has a very strong story. GTA V is just kinda stuff happening.

If you don't want to deal with building and owning a PC and want something that'll work exactly as prescribed right out of the box, the PS5 is probably the best console you can get.

I know you probably don't mean it as such but saying "transwoman" as opposed to "trans woman" is generally considered impolite, as it positions trans women as wholly separate, rather than the trans being an adjective to the woman.

Yeah this is very true. It's mainly to do with the velocity of the round. A handgun is basically a hole-puncher, and if it doesn't hit anything vital you'll probably be okay, but a rifle round send shockwaves through your body and ruptures way more tissue and blood vessels than it actually touches.

And the judge that previously let him free dosen't have a law degree and was never a lawyer. And this has been a issue for a long time.

Depending on what he was arrested for that may or may not have been reasonable. In either case I don't think that warrants being worldwide breaking news for a week straight.

Questioning the significance of any particular crime is a rabbit hole you don't want to get anywhere near. Instead it's probably better to focus on whichever issues this video has brought to light, such as why this violent guy has been released so much despite having 14 priors.

I don't know what his priors were, where they murders, assaults, or j-walking? I, like most people talking about this particular murder, don't have anything interesting to add to the discussion, and I think it's sus as hell that conservative outlets are parading it around like the biggest event of a generation.

We probably shouldn't go down this talking point because it does ultimate minimize the fear and situation. The talking point from Dems should probably be that we should look into why someone with violent tendencies had been released so often rather than sounding overly defensive.

My point isn't that there's nothing to do or learn about this, my point is that this isn't worth a week worth of front page headlines and the significance of it is being massively overblown.

Sometimes I lurk r/conservative because I'm a masochist and I like to know what conservatives are talking about and for the past week almost it's been pretty much nothing but articles about this woman who go stabbed on the train in north carolina. It's the biggest news story for conservatives in years, and I just don't get it. Yes it's tragic but dozens of murders happen every day. Neither the perpetrator nor victim were public figures, I can't even think of their names off the top of my head.

I know the obvious answer is that it's being astroturfed by bots, heritage foundation, tenet media/russia et. al. but like. Why?

This is twitter, it's definitely a handful of nutjobs or bots being amplified by musk to try to turn people against Mamdani.

It's not that bad but once you get to season 2 or 3 you'll see why everyone calls it the worst.

God I'm SO glad that Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig are keeping the "serialized detective with no notable backstory or connection between cases whatsoever" genre alive. I want one billion sequels. I hope this completely outshines Daniel Craig's time as James Bond when looking back at his career. I want one where he's on a train. I want one billion knockoffs and a revival of the genre.
