made some updates to the water. added a simple shader and some particle effects when jumping in and out as well as swimming.

the next step is to figure out the issue with swimming on the exact surface of the water. the way I'm calculating it right now is the water is a trigger collider and when the player becomes more than 50% submerged they stop and that is considered the surface. But it's not the exact surface, and because of the way unity calculates it's not the same exact height every time. So once you jump in water you can swim up just a little before you're able to jump out

The reason they dont make comedy films anymore is theres literally no benefit to making a movie over a tv show anymore

used to be that R-Rated comedies could do and say things you couldnt see on TV; now everything goes on streaming services.

Comedies dont generally benefit from the higher budget a feature film could get, and for audiences theyre not the kind of movie you feel compelled to see in theaters

plus back in the day writers would have to leave tons of jokes on the cutting room floor to cull a film down to 90-120 minutes. Now they dont have to do that and can fit all their ideas in an 8-10 episode comedy season

I got stalled thtinking up boss movesets/attacks so my hobby programming time has been going to non game dev stuff lately. I also recently made a checklist of everything I needed for my current project to be minimally functional. next thing I did was spend like 2 hours implementing a key feature, went back to the list excited to check it off, only to learn that I'd forgotten to list it in the first place :/

Id look into using notion for keeping track of ideas and tasks

the free version has a bunch of easy to use tools for keeping track of things

we even used it at a previous job; it has a lot of the basic features you need for project organization such as wiki creating and jira-style task boards

Why does it seem more common for people nowadays to go out in like 90+ degree weather and like 80% humidity without preparing in some way? It's always been impossible to cool off in high humidity, sweat can't evaporate when the air moisture is too dense.

EDIT: Damn it wasn't even humid, people going out in 109 degree weather and not sitting in shade or drinking Pedialyte or having pickles on hand. Even then it's stupid to sit outside in 102+ weather for longer than 25 minutes without anything to bring down your body temperature.

apple is at least paying artists 2.5x as much as Spotify and they havent cut off smaller artists from royalties entirely
