Honestly, Petsmart may want to look into modifying their policy when it comes to extremes in size difference.

If the dog that got killed was a tiny teacup sized 4 pounder, they probably shouldn't be put in with larger dogs that are known to pester others. Even if a mauling isn't intended, an accident could easily happen with something that tiny. That's less than half the size of an average cat.

The reality is, that wouldn't solve this problem. If the lab is capable of doing that to a smaller dog, its capable of doing the same to a great dane. It's a temperament problem.

The better solution is be done with group playtime entirely, it's inherently bad and often leads to situations like this. Most kennel horror stories I hear about are directly related to group playtime.

Not just for behavior issues, but dogs passing along disease as well.

If you only did group playtime with dogs of comparable size, you would still have stuff like this happen, just between dogs of similar size.

Not as comically out of whack as the others posted, but Tomb Raider started as this weird Survival Horror Platformer to an Uncharted clone.

Although one that did get a little weird was Oddworld. First two games were 2D Cinematic Platformers, third game was a third person kinda puzzle game that wasn't quite a cinematic platformer ... ? ... I didn't have an Xbox so I skipped it.

Stranger's Wrath was a straight up third person action game with heavy FPS elements. Actually invented the "slow down time to select a weapon" mechanic that became popular years later.

It has a few annoying levels but it's a decently fun game. The ratio of traditional levels to gimmicks was a little too high though. Some of them were pretty good, like Coco Tiger levels were actually really fun.

Still, for every world you'd only get like 1 or 2 traditional levels out of the five.

Has my favorite Boss fights out of the ND games, and music goes pretty hard.

Sounds like PetSmart followed to usual procedure. The owner calling up the pet owners and some heartfelt apologies are usually all this stuff amounts to. Hush money and the like is pretty unheard of, dogs passing away at kennels isn't exactly a secret.

There was likely a lengthy contract that needed to be signed and a laundry list of policies and procedures on the their website.

If any party is responsible, it's likely the owner of the bigger dog. If they knew of a history of dog aggression and didn't disclose it, that'll get you blacklisted.

IDK if PetsMart is even supposed to accept aggressive dogs, my kennel did, but we had special procedures to deal with it. The pen would be double locked and a big red "use caution" sign placed on it's ID card. Additionally, it would be the owners responsibility to walk it back for staff safety reasons.

Unfortunately you can't really do stuff like that at at a kennel without someone covering for you. I'm not sure how PetsMart operates, but he likely has an end of shift checklist or at the very least a few procedures to go over.

It doesn't get easier, best you can hope for is that Tinkerbell's owners are chill (at least as chill as you could be in this situation).

It's not a common occurrence, but at least one dog will pass away every couple years. Usually, it's natural causes however.

I've had an older dog pass away in its sleep while the family was out at Disney World, that one got me in particular.

Some times owners have a sense of humor about it and are borderline expecting it, but it still takes an emotional toll.

why was the giant dog allowed to be that close to the little dog?

Googling a few images to see how these places are set up, it looks like they do group playtime. If the big dog didn't have a known history of aggression and the dogs "know" each other there probably wasn't a reason to keep them separate.

If they were kept in separate pens at the time, it was probably just a freak accident. Your kennel could be Fort Knox and dogs would still find a way to break out.

Basing it on intent and context shouldn't be too big a can of worms. Again, it's how the various forms of homicide work. Pornography itself is based on intent and not just any nude picture.

So, if I'm following. You're saying the image shouldn't be considered CP in the context of kids being stupid, but otherwise if it was a 40 yo creep?

I guess that makes sense, but I stand by that the the existence of the image itself is still problematic. It's still something the teen should get in trouble for, if only to discourage that behavior and mitigate the risk of such images leaking. Its just not exactly "spend 20 years in prison" bad, or even jail time bad.

I'm saying this shouldn't be CP at all in the first place.

I think that might be a fundamental disagreement between us. It definitely is CP possession, at least on an objective level.

I feel like declaring that the image isn't CP due to the age of the possessor might open up a bigger can of worms.

At the very least It's still something that needs to be dealt with due to the risk of it getting leaked.

The issue is that this is CP in the first place. So if this is CP then there would be literally be instances of CP where it's "not bad" and just get a slap on the wrist. (of course it would still be on their record and makes them CP distributors on paper.)

I mean, do you legit want the teenager thrown in prison and treated like a predator over that?

Sounds like you're ignoring why CP is against the law in the first place. It's a form of child abuse. Who is actually being abused in this instance?

It's still bad. But for different reasons. It could fall in the hands of actual sexual predators or otherwise shared online (whether intentional or no).

If I was following the topic correctly (it might have been another user that said this), you mentioned you would rather have the flawed laws dealt with first ... which kind of implies it just wouldn't count as CP? That seems way way worse and open to abuse IMHO.

The issue is the messaging of the concept that CP could be something that isn't bad at all.

I don't see how this is sending that message.
In the case of the teenager example, it seems like it would still be treated as a fuck up. Just that its a more forgivable fuck up, because they're still young and stupid and probably didn't consciously think about it like a middle aged adult would.

Want huskies, go in the other topic where they actually managed to kill the tc's cat.

Also, I'm not saying they're a bad breed, but German Sheps are more more aggressive on average.

As another user pointed out, one of the factors you hear about one and not the other is that pitbull owners tend to be really naive when it comes to dog ownership. Less likely to attend an obedience school and generally laid back, they seem to perfer disobedience (honestly, just get a cat in that case).

There's also the issue of misidentification. I'm not even sure the dogs in TCs images are Pit Bulls, a pit mix probably.

American Bulldogs are basically the monsters people think Pits are, and they look very similar at a glance.

Early 90's baby. I remember when Y2K was a big fear and got to experience the best of early 90's and early 2000's kids entertainment.

Favorite films include The Pagemaster and Small Soldiers.

My first experience with the internet was dial-up AOL Kids. My first experience with social media was a crappy AOL chatroom and later an AOL ran message board.

I learned of GameFAQs through stolen guides hosted on "bestcheats.com" and eventually started coming directly before making my first account in 2006.

My first computer was a Bondi Blue iMac G3, mostly "played" Worldbook on it and played with a crazy bootleg Photoshop that we had. I eventually got The Sims before upgrading to an eMac G4.

I cut my teeth programming with Blitz Basic running on a cheap Windows XP machine my parents had. This became Blitz Max and eventually Flash Pro 8. I posted a few shitty Flash games to Newgrounds as a teenager.

If I'm not a Millennial I'm not sure what a Millennial is.

Always assumed PR would retire before Sentai.

I feel PR fell off for a lot of reasons, a lot of them being just that it stopped being this edgy violent kids franchise that parents hated and it just became a kids franchise.

When my little nephew went through his Power Rangers phase, it wasn't the new stuff as much as reruns of Mighty Morphin on Netflix. It seems like 90's kitsch is strangely timeless as far as appeal to kid's.

Instead of trying to recapture that market, it's weirdly marketed at nostalgic adults now ... which is fine but it's still more of a niche.
