I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a "name nerd", though I do own this:

https://www.amazon.com/Gary-Gygaxs-Gygaxian-Fantasy-Worlds/dp/1931275564

I've made hundreds of NPCs across dozens of tabletop RPGs over the years, so I've had to come up with tons of different names for characters. Modern names, historical names, fantasy names, sci-fi names, comic book superhero names. Names from various ethnicities. Team names, organization names.

I know what a few names mean in their original derivation, though I'm not a huge expert on every name ever.

Wow, that's pretty cool! Maybe I should get my hands on that....

There are still youth baseball leagues, including the Little League World Series and high school baseball, so yes.

I'm more interested in why you think baseball isn't still popular. If it wasn't still popular MLB would have a lack of people trying to play for the big leagues, which isn't the case.

I dunno, I just heard the idea it wasn't popular among today's kids around the Internet I guess. (For that matter I am a baseball fan.) Also, I get the idea that stuff like video games are competing with sports in general...

As we get smarter we get weaker.

That seems true....

faramir77 posted...
Compared to the great apes, we're obviously very weak. But we're still stronger than the vast majority of other land animals. I'm sure everyone can think of a handful of carnivores that a sole person wouldn't be able to beat barehanded (like lions or bears) as well as some herbivores (like rhinos or hippos), and also many animals that it would be a toss up (like large snakes or a wolf).

What humans are remarkably good at, aside from intelligence, is endurance. There isn't another animal on Earth better at that than us. Modern sedentary people are an exception, but even a modestly conditioned person can jog for several kilometers without stopping. We can easily walk nonstop for literally as long as we can stay awake, 12 hours of nonstop walking wouldn't even be hard for anyone that isn't out of shape.

That's pretty interesting info! Thanks for the input!

I used to think when I was younger that humans were among the weakest species physically when compared to other animals of similar sizes. The reason being is that the natural weapons humans have, such as teeth, arms, and legs, aren't as strong as those of other animals. Even Chimpanzees, humans' closest relatives, have them beat in terms of physical strength. Instead, humans rely on intelligence and tools to make up for their lack of natural strength.

But was I wrong? Apparently I've heard human bites can also be dangerous and perhaps even fatal, same thing with punches and kicks.

How do humans' natural defenses compare with other animals?

A lot of people have done it, it tends to work fine.

If you want to go for the extra flair, you can always get a bit of silver facepaint and dab it on to parts where your inner robot is showing.

I think I've actually seen them sell makeup/prosthetic kits that are explicitly made to do the "peeled back skin/metal underneath" look specifically for Terminator costumes. You could probably find one if you look.

Hmm...sounds like good ideas! I'll consider it!
