So I'm at the battle where Tietra is killed by Argath, and I'm finding it incredibly difficult. I only have 4 units, and the enemy has at least twice that many.

<p style="pointer-events: auto;">I found Auto-Potion to be a lifesaver in this playthrough. Previous playthroughs I always favoured Counter but this time around auto-potion has helped survive getting ganged up on.

This would be the smartest thing for them to do, but I honestly don't think pokemon company cares enough to invest in more/better devs. I feel like their overall plan is to just diversify as much as possible and rake in cash from all other avenues (merchandise, experimental, movies, tcg, etc.)

The worst is when it bleeds into other media like video games. JRPGs in the 80s and 90s didn't have much to do with anime (technical limitations aside) but now it seems every anime trope is shoe horned into JRPGs series just to sell. Great example is Phantasy Star Online vs Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. Story is straight up unplayable cuz it's just anime bullshit in a sci-fi online hack and slash.

A fantastic meta-commentary on allowing a franchise to retire at its prime instead of pumping its lifeless corpse full of adrenaline for one last hurrah. At every opportunity it felt like the game was mocking you with callbacks and constantly saying "HEY REMEMBER? REMEMBER THE THING? WELL IT'S DEAD NOW", and you know what? I loved it. I love when Kojima and team get sassy with the audience and by extension the games industry as a whole.

The argument can go both ways, a game despite all its faults can be perfectly serviceable to modern audiences and act as a time capsule, capturing a specific moment in culture and technology and on the flipside, using modern quality of life improvements to make the game more accessible to a wider audience is also great!

The problem is that a portion of the time, a lot of what made the original so appealing gets changed for the sake of modernity, or sometimes just completely re-written to serve some other purpose (Final Fantasy VII Remake). You, rightfully, could also make the argument that a remake or remaster doesn't invalidate the existence of the original. While that's true it does steer the "intent" of the original in a new direction, but then again everyone usually has a specific and nostalgia driven opinion on the games of their childhood so who's to say which is better.

I think it is. It's supposed to send a message of "have confidence in your decision, don't half ass something". I think where it gets lost is people's interpretation of "try", people think Yoda is telling him not to try as "attempt" when the quote means "if you're going to do something, do it to completion or don't do it at all".

XII by a landslide. Despite Matsuno stepping away and the game's many faults, the world of Ivalice presented in XII was so incredibly fleshed out.

An absolute shame, here's hoping it at the very least inspires young artists and animators to carry the torch.

Grew up in a fast developing suburb, lot's of kids in the area, several parks and our school was walking distance. Even though we had access to video games we basically played outside all day until our parents would yell at us to come back in.

Comfort is subjective, as is style and social norms. So this whole conversation is ridiculous, which is why I said garbage bag. Love yourself and put on a decent set of clothes.

That's exactly my point, why is "pajamas" the frontier for what is or isn't acceptable? Why not a toga, or a sleeping bag, if TC's point is that people truly shouldn't care what others wear, why stop there? Why do you get to determine what constitutes as clothing.

One of the best Tales soundtracks by far, and Kazuto Nakazawa doing character art was a superb choice. Just the wish the story was a teensy bit better but I also haven't played it since it came out so might be worth revisiting.
