In X, she hardly had a personality due to being so repressed by Yevon. I think people confuse her as a nice cute obedient girl, and dont realize she hasnt been allowed to emotionally mature or do ANYTHING with her life.

Maybe the script in X-2 is goofy and weird and she certainly has some cringe lines, but also, did people expect her to stay the silent, obedient, cult mind-slave she was before? I think after realizing that your entire life, family line, and culture was a lie, you might want to loosen up a little.

People can be very dimissive of X-2 as the silly girly pop game, but the world building, characters, and story are top notch. The progression is Spira is really cool, though I understand why some may find the way it changes offputting or jarring.

Yuna is cool and her development all the way through X-2 was great. FFX is one of the few teenage dramas I can stomach and I think how the deuteragonists interact, react to, and move through their world is pretty well written. I wish they had cleaned up the English dub with the remaster, though.

She's a good character. Only real mark I had against her was:

I'll never forget this one particular line of hers right after Kimahri attacks Tidus towards the beginning of the game, where she laughs and says "sometimes we don't understand Kimahri either!" For one fleeting moment she actually sounds like a real person, and I like to believe that was the VA's actual personality shining through before the director stepped in and said "no no no!! meek and breathy," and she immediately reverts back to that for the following line.

The direction was funky for sure, but a big part of the problem was them making the actors match the Japanese language mouth movements. It botched the cadence and delivery of a ton of lines making characters sound like weird creatures trying to figure out how humans talk, lol.

Lyn is a hunter that comes from FE's take on Mongolia, so her alternate versions are often archers. It's much more accurate to her character than being a fucking centaur or horse derby girl, lmao. Her swordsman versions didn't go anywhere, either, but they switch up weapons to keep from just slapping swords on everybody.

Yeah! The ministers going from the bloated, slimy, and blue to "lol, he's just fat" was so disappointing, especially regarding their role in the story and invasion. The generic, grotesque fat mob just doesn't fit in well.

So many comedians end up being whiny, spineless slime that I'm a bit surprised people seem to generally expect noble or lofty things of the profession. Comedy bits and standup are typically carefully scripted acts designed to make money and not all of it reflects genuine positions or morals.

I was friends with the woman who became my then district's state senator (and first openly LGBT person elected to legislature). Otherwise, I've met a few higher level politicians, but only been casually acquainted with them.

The problem, at least for me, is that Demon's Souls had a deliberate, distinct look and feel, aesthetically, and much of it was used to tell us about the world, what its characters have done, the origin of certain foes, etc. It's a noticeably bigger portion of the storytelling than in later Souls games. Bluepoint's game looks great, graphically, but they sanded over so much of the original's sensibilities. There's a distinct tonal difference between the games, both in look and sound. A few enemies were toned down or made more traditionally "cool", among soundtrack issues, wildly redesigned gear, etc. The games are both good, but the remake lacks the sense of cohesion and purposeful design of the original. It has a more generic fantasy feel, sound, and look that I think does a disservice to its world and story.

The only thing I dislike about the remake is the worse soundtrack and how it flagrantly butchered the original game's quiet, weird aesthetic for something more generic and "epic", oftentimes dangerously close to missing the point of the original's environmental storytelling. Like, Bluepoint really was clueless about the game they were tasked with recreating and had to be told by fans (see: their redesigned "badass" Flamelurker, and even its redo, vs the original, which had clear design elements hinting at its origin). I don't usually care too much, if at all, when remakes change stuff, but with Demon's Souls, it really irritated me, lol.

As someone that got screwed on a silent hill f steelbook yesterday because gamestop has exclusive rights to them in NA and each store only got 2 to 3 steelbooks for every like 25 or so pre-orders, yeah, good fucking luck pokemon fans. You will need it.

I made the admittedly stupid ass decision to preorder there to get a steelbook and each store in my area got two. Naturally they were gone the second the store opened. When I called another, they claimed it was a company-wide shortage and that they were "definitely" getting more in, so maybe there's still hope for that. Went there for the Pokmon codes with my niblings so they could get the shinies and they were told that the store ran out pretty much as soon as it opened. Guess we'll have to wait and see if they do an online distro at someone. Sucks that this stuff basically went straight to scalpers/flippers, lol.

Pretty much all of these big rock and roll guys were massive pieces of shit. Jimmy Page, Ian Watkins, David Bowie, Pete Townshend, Steven Tyler, etc., etc., etc. Like, this stuff was rampant and nobody really cared. The entire industry was (and still is, tbh) rotten from the inside out.

I thought it was kind of weak overall. I also really, really hate the style of animation this show uses (What If...? as well). It's so cheap and stiff looking and takes me out of it sometimes.

The only thing it did was make dinosaurs more popular and spread the idea of gigantic, featherless velociraptors with human intelligence and grabby hands. People generally don't like the idea of stuff like feathered dinosaurs because of decades of "knowing" what they looked like already. Jurassic World series does go further out of its way to establish that the designer dinos are not real dinosaurs, at least.

It's not perfect, but that was, hands down, his best performance as any Snake. He got worse and worse every time he came back. The insane cartoon voice at least worked with Old Snake a bit more. I know he admits he's a much better actor now, so maybe he'd approach it differently.

The in-game info note on revenants tells you how to easily kill these things with no issues. Them being so outrageously annoying is the trade-off to how easily they're dealt with.

FFVIII is almost nothing but vibes, LOL. I thought it was a mostly fun time, but the entire game is a crazy mess. Its ambitions definitely exceeded its grasp and felt like kind of disparate scraps from something greater had been haphazardly stitched together.
