Babe Ruth
Jackie Robinson
Hank Aaron
Nolan Ryan even if i thought he was a tad overrated.

4chan was founded in October 2003. Any 40 year old millennials would have been 18 (or at least 17 and 11 months) when it started, which is not growing up with it. While the oldest millenials are now in their early 40s, most are still in their 30s and the youngest millennials are in their 20s. There are like single digits millennial world leaders. The levers of power are still firmly in the hands of Gen X and the Boomers and will be for another decade. Also this seems like Gen X cringe very specifically.

18 to like 24 is still a pretty big 'growing up' period. Somebody like JD Vance (somebody in the oldest 3rd of the millennial gen) was 23 when the Casual Revolution took off. 23 is still pretty young and a formidable time for people, especially in the modern society we live in.

I mean hell Karoline Leavitt is borderline a zoomer. 1997 is kind of the last year of millennial/start of gen z.

Yes the highest names are still predominantly boomers and the older half of gen x. But a lot of these immediate advisers/behind the scenes work is youngest gen x/millennials now. Russ Vought? Born in 1976, fairly late gen x (gen x ending around 80/81). Stephen Miller? Born in 1985, well into the millennial era, etc. Those republicans who get caught in these group chats every other day? Born in the 80s/90s mostly.

The problem is society has stagnated since 2007, and so people think somebody born in 1991 is still 18 or something, when they are mid 30s.

It's hard to believe these are supposed to be our actual leaders and not just dudes on 4chan.

Its because a lot of these people in the government now are just 2007 4channers.

He wasnt advised to do so because its the right thing there. In a bases loaded less than 2 out situation its always advised to avoid the double play. Any player takes a similar lead there. The wrong play was taking out one of your best players in a game 7 for a marginal upgrade on the bases to begin with.

Does it really even give much of an improvement in the tie/win now though? IKF is a slight upgrade at best on the bases. I watched him plenty this year as a Pirates fan, did he level up a bunch after he got traded? I just dont see how you remove one of your best hitters in a game 7 for that very small improvement on the bases.

Is that really it? I know suburbans demonize the urban for sure, but I thought deep rural areas were not as concerned with the city culturally. And they also do business with the city so it's a mutual relationship, unlike suburbans.

Lots of deep rural areas have even more fear of cities than suburban areas do, its just more people live in the suburbs than farmlands so you see the fear more. And everyone is sucked into culture war shit now, even farmers.

For farmers specifically, i do think its a bit less on the religion side of things and like you just said, moreso about the "cities are different from where i live and filled with crazies" propaganda. Despite the fact that those cities are where lots of people live who you know...buy their food.

Yes. Exactly. Hes more social outside of work. Plenty are. Doesn't mean hes introverted though.

When he uses an example of a long day of meetings at work around one particular co worker, and then says "it happens elsewhere too, not just work", im assuming he means like....an mtg nerd gatekeeper being an asshole for 4 hours. That would be the MTG equivalent of a long day of meetings at work.

Now if he just means playing MTG with anybody, even friendly people, for 4 hours on a monday night and then he needs to be alone from even his wife for the rest of the night, thats legit introverted. If thats the case, sure. But again, the example he gave was "a long day of meetings". The monday night MTG counter part to that would be an asscrack showing neckbeard being annoying while hes trying to be social. That is just stress and anxiety.

No, I don't like being around people for energy. I recharge by not being around people. To the point where my wife knows if I have had a meeting heavy day or around one particular co-worker for large stints of the day, that I need to be left alone basically all night after getting home.

Again, thats still work related.

Office friendships are easy but ultimately empty. Maybe like 1% of my coworker friends remain my friends today. That's better than nothing but it's not a real source of friendship.

My office/any job ive ever had led to the hobby friends. Ya, i don't get dozens of friends at work, i doubt anybody does. The friends i do have very much are more personal. Going to sporting events/movies/talk about life difficulties/etc.

I actually see more gatekeeping, elitism and general POS behavior than ever before at hobby meetups if you go by yourself. If you go with people you already know, others might ask to join in and you make a few more acquaintances at least.

Introverted doesn't mean straight up not wanting to be around people. Introverts have friends. It's just a matter of how your "battery" recharges, essentially. You can feel fulfilled about going out to a gathering with others while also having that thing make you exhausted and unready to do it again for some time. That's more of what the extro/intro distinction is about.

I know what intro and extroversion are. He likes being around people for energy, hes not as introverted as he thinks. He just hates being social at work. Plenty do. Not really enough to say hes an introvert though.

I think you're definitely in the minority who wants to work in an office.

Perhaps, but I do think it's kinda absurd to think that all this talk about loneliness for almost 2 decades now (and another massive increase since covid), but then people want to work from home 5 days a week.

I admit I'm lonely, but I at least still make attempts to meet new people any way I can. Going into the office was actually quite helpful for that, although like I said earlier since covid offices can be more depressing because it's a bunch of empty desks reserved for a person who comes in once every 3 to 4 weeks

Sorry to hear that. Other than traffic I like going to a physical location for work. Home should be for relaxing.

I live in a 800ish square foot apartment, kinda large I guess. I do have a very small dedicated space for work only, but it's not really large enough tbh.

As for traffic, for the past 8 or so years I've always selected apartment units that go against the interstate rush hour flows. Helps a little bit

Been doing it for years. Post covid i maybe work from home once a week, although im starting to not even do that because I think work from home is only good if you need to be at home for repairs, nearby doctor visit during lunch, etc.

I will say my office still doesnt really have a solid rule on when/if you need to be back in the office, so the office can be more depressing when we have maybe 20 people here (Fridays this is almost always the case). Before covid it was about 500 to 600 people here each day.

Tron Legacy was generally considered to be pretty profitable wasn't it? I think Disney was expecting it to be one of those near billion hits and made like 450 mill, but it still easily cleared its budget if i recall. Can't expect the movie to make much more than that given that it was never some massive franchise and was a sequel 25 years later for a movie that was a cult hit at most.

This movie needed to

1) come out like 2 years after Legacy, when milking franchises from the 80s was still a big thing.
2) Continue the story of Sam and Quorra, not something that feels like a reboot to the reboot
3) Not have Jared Leto.

Peak 80s was 40 years ago, the people who lived through them as an 18 to early 30s year old are now approaching fucking 70. If we should be doing any milking of old shit it should be the mid 90s to real early 00s for some Freddie Prince Jr and Rachael Lee Cook She's All That 2.
