Id still ride the street at times but only while facing towards traffic rather than with it.

As this this holy shit, the driver didnt even bother to slow down enough to avoid running the biker down. Grade A PoS.
This is the Runner's Rule and I do this when on streets where cars drive 45mph and below.

Typically runners run facing traffic and bikers are to ride in the right lane in the US because cars could turn right onto the road the cyclist is driving and hit them because the cyclist was riding in the left lane.

In the right lane, cyclists are at the mercy of drivers like the tc, and even though that should never happen. I make sure it doesn't happen by switching lanes and riding off-road if I have to. It's not the proper thing to do like others have said. If you're in a group you should stay in the right lane but as a solo rider no one is gonna look out for you like you.

Rode my bike this morning. Been riding about a year.

I don't live in a crowded area and I have the luxury of riding during non-rush hour times.

The victim blaming is disgusting but if I had to pick a route, I would not ride around the airport because everyone is gonna be in a hurry.

As a biker I've noticed most problems between cyclists and cars stem from the people driving cars not understanding rules. The driver that hit them could have easily gone around. I suspect he was either hungover or recently had COVID because the driver wasn't thinking straight.

When I ride with other cyclists they try explaining what cars should do in certain situations, and I'm always behind because I ride in the grass when there's no room in the road and I make eye contact when it's unclear what a car is about to do

Surviving emergency heart surgery happens. My brother drove himself to the hospital while having a heart attack and survived. My military mentor went to the doctor and had emergency heart surgery like your Dad had. Both survived.

The first 72 hours are very important. If he opens his eyes, talks, tries to get up, or begins signaling that's very good news. If he doesn't it isn't bad news but you'll be in for a fight. My understanding is that inducing a coma can help the brain if one recovers. Trust the professionals. Comfort the older people in your family that are there with you.

We're in agreement.

Difference is I think many those kids born of those pregnancies will be projected to be future prisoners by the Conservatives. It's definitely a negative for society. But it's a positive if you own stock in private prison companies. Not only do they cover their investment, but the abortion ban also provides a huge potential for growth.

I'm only saying this to say this to say it's bigger than Trump and won't go away when/if he loses. He's not President now and the world is still dealing with it.

I understand your sentiment and agree with it, but I think it's important to separate the rhetoric people use when proposing measures to their true intentions.

The abortion ban is about ensuring that there's an underclass of people in American society. People who don't fully understand their rights and can be imprisoned or forced into low wage work for the rest of their lives. These old people are working to try to ensure someone will be around to clean their grandchildren's house and work in the fields they own. Calling these people dictators would be an insult to you but a compliment to them.

Do you think that abortion rights issues arose post 2020?????? This is one of the most bizarre takes ive ever fucking seen and im not even gonna try to understand the rest of what you typed.

Every single board ive seen you post on you just have weird and nonsensical takes
Just for the record, I'm a graduate student who works in the healthcare field currently. Hopefully, you've seen me cite sources on what I'm saying and not attack people personally, it's something I always try to do in political threads. I always try to understand what others are saying because it provides perspective.

It's a documented fact that abortion bans lead to more live births and there's an economic impact that comes with it. Roe v. Wade was repealed in 2022. That was almost exactly one year before the pandemic was declared over by the US Department of Health and Human Services. If it's so silly and nonsensical...if conservatives have been against abortion since Roe v. Wade passed how come it's only been repealed after the financial impacts of COVID were realized?

The World Health Organization began measuring the economic loss in 2021 and the financial loss was much larger than expected.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/9/9ad49d64.jpg
https://shorturl.at/3hJWS - Full Article, good read. Explains how the abortion ban mainly impacted poorer people, people of color and families with undocumented parents. This leads to the next point.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/4/4f14261d.jpg
I'm only saying abortion rights changing in the way they have is closely related to the economic impact of covid deaths and morbidity. It's no longer an argument about individual rights and freedom, but one of long-term economic security for the country and the powers that be. I'm against the abortion ban but I understand the conservative strategy and many people misinterpret it.

This is an example. Private prisons have struck deals in the State of Florida where prisons must remain 90% full for the state to continue getting money. In addition to this, the current prison population is aging, so stockholders have an interest in keeping prisons filled over time. This + 1 Million COVID deaths in the US + a declining birth rate is a reason why voters and judges would support an abortion ban despite how they feel about things on a personal level.

Of the 85,145 inmates now in prisons in Florida, slightly more than 10,000 are housed in those seven private facilities, according to Department of Corrections Deputy Secretary Richard Comerford, who spoke before the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee on Wednesday.

https://floridaphoenix.com/2023/10/18/the-private-prison-industry-in-fl-is-now-changing-the-state-is-taking-more-control/

The proportion of state and federal prisoners who are 55 or older is about five times what it was three decades ago. In 2022, that was more than 186,000 people.
In Oklahoma, the geriatric population has quadrupled in the past two decades. In Virginia, a quarter of the state's prisoners will be geriatric by 2030. And in Texas, geriatric inmates are the fastest-growing demographic in the entire system.
Prison systems across the U.S. have a constitutional obligation to provide adequate health care, and they're racing to figure out how to care for the elderly in their custody and how to pay for it.

The question private prison investors are facing is how are we going to keep our facilities filled once these current prisoners die? The answer is to repeal Roe v. Wade to create a generation of future prisoners. This is an issue bigger than Trump, imo.

https://www.npr.org/2024/03/11/1234655082/prison-elderly-aging-geriatric-population-care

Also in the state of Florida, DeSantis' opposition tried to run on Abortion Rights in the Governor's Race and it failed miserably in many different races (Governor, Senator, House, Local Judges, School Board). The issue with making abortion a top issue in elections is the fact most voters are past breeding age and value families more than individual freedom. Also, young people don't always vote. Florida is full of idiots but voters polled said that marijuana legislation and economic impacts from property insurance were bigger issues than abortion.

This is a link to voter info in Florida according to a University of South Florida poll: https://shorturl.at/wLgaX

Again, I'm posting this for perspective. I'm a Black guy that votes blue in Florida. I'm against the Abortion Ban. Saying that you aren't even going to try to understand what I said says more about your intelligence than mine. I hope you check out the information I think it's worth reading.

State Governments matter more at this stage where I am in Florida. The state already has a super majority and things are quickly becoming dystopian. Public schools are feeder systems for private prisons and it's more obvious in FL than anywhere else in the country.

Abortion rights issues are happening due to population issues related to COVID deaths. Our Economy is missing a few million people who shouldn't be dead but are. A declining birth rate is problematic for the country long term. I say that to say people who survived the COVID pandemic should argue about other things because the abortion rights thing is a long term issue not a current one. Abortion shouldn't be top issue for anyone voting in this election.

Aside from abortion. Every thing bad is already happening under a Democrat president. The Feds can't stop the state from passing its own laws. Trump will either do something different or accelerate the same thing I'm already seeing.

Both Biden and Trump are at the mercy of the people close to them due to their age. Trump poops his pants every day. Biden is hypoglycemic and gets confused when his blood sugar drops. They both aren't bad options to lead the country in 2024. Project 2025 is especially problematic but so is the direction of the global economy. What's being proposed would disenfranchise a lot of people in the short term (20 years) but would possibly address the spending issues the government has faced and not addressed since COVID.

I see the American Economy heading for the 2000s equivalent of the Great Depression, then possibly World War 3 in the next 20-30 years so whatever fixes things long term is the right decision. I don't care who comes up with the idea I just want it to work. I'm not voting for Trump but I have to put my faith in him if he wins. For the next 2-4 years, that is. I know this isn't normal these days but I respect whoever becomes the President of the United States.

I have had to get a hotel room to get away from my family and work on stuff. Otherwise, they pull you away any time they feel like it. To them, you're just sitting in front of a computer so it's difficult for them to see things from your perspective.

254, but leaner than I was at 245. Doing Deadlifts, squats, and bench on the same day is ridiculous, but it immediately shows when I sleep and eat enough protein. Muscle is developing mostly in my posterior chain, lower back, glutes and hamstrings. Pants are loose around my waist and tight around my legs. I'm faster on the bike and I went on a date last night and....she noticed the difference too!

Normally I average about 8 to 10 minutes of "exercise" but my watch got me up to 19. True I'm no longer taking long rides on the bike but it's very encouraging.

The UEFA Euros are gonna be my gym partner for the next few weeks. I'll lift watching the early matches and I'll implement cardio on Match Day 3 (When the first eliminations happen and they start the games at the exact same time). Copa America is also going to be fun to do cardio; those games will be at night so I'll do treadmill stuff without working in obscene heat. I'm lifting during the NBA Finals game 4 tonight

My Mom did a Peloton walking class and her heart rate got up to 129 avg when she was averaging 117 on a recumbent bike. Aside from a fall risk, it's a superior form of exercise.

The goal of the CGM is to understand how my parents can measure their glucose when dealing with prediabetes and help them lower blood glucose while their body still responds to insulin. They don't believe I say in regards to health because I'm currently overweight. They say if I can successfully lose weight, they may consider using the CGMs. Really stupid logic, but the CGM is helping me understand how to do it.

It was also really stupid to bike after a morning rain. 89 but felt like 99. 68% Humidity. Had to cut my ride short by about 5 miles.

Also if you're doing these machines you should do an exercise called Rear Delt Flys with your light dumbbells. It's true that your posture can be affected by lifting. Doing 5 sets of 20 of these at a very low weight will strengthen muscles in your shoulder known as the posterior deltoid. This helps your posture and appearance a lot. Prevents you from hunching over when you stand due to overdeveloped anterior and medial deltoids.

Looking at your machines you have everything you need but legs and shoulder press

I would do 5 sets of 20 of each machine in a circuit

Chest Press, Pulldown, Machines

and then repeat 5 times.

I have worked as a licensed personal trainer before. There are only a few combinations of exercise for upper body. You either push out (Chest, Triceps), Pull In (Rows, Biceps), Push Up (Shoudlers, Triceps) and Pull Down (Pull-ups, Lat Pulldowns). The only thing you're missing is a shoulder press where you're pushing up over your head.

Ab work, cardio and legs are things you should add on once you've done this for about 4 weeks. If you figure out how much you can do then do 50% of that for the sets I stated you should get visible muscle pretty easily with a low chance of injuring yourself.

The good part about this program is that it's high volume low intensity. If you have something to watch or listen to it isn't hard to put the work in. You will be tired afterwards but it shouldn't be overwhelming.

EDIT: I see you do have a shoulder press machine, you're in good shape! Machine 1 is a shoulder press, Machine 2 is a chest press, Machine 3 is a lat pulldown and row machine meant for your back.

Reading the article again I'm realizing the kid's name is Anakin.

It's that he was playing with guns (toy guns) in public as a senior prank. If you're an adult, you should be smart enough to understand that people may react with violence if they feel they're exposed to it. You don't yell fire in a crowded theater. You don't shoot people in public and run away. I believe they had gel bead guns and water guns, so the shots actually hurt people. The kid was committing felony assault because he was targeting people from his school.

Again the Father is also wrong but when he said, "they shot my daughter" he wasn't lying. If the prank was on school grounds I'd feel different.

A lot of privileges are being granted to the victim here. Tamir Rice was shot and killed by police for holding a toy gun, not shooting it, and people and local authorities said the 12-year-old's shooting was justified. This kid actually shot people and ran away. It's difficult to say that there's no danger present when his daughter was a victim of a shooting and you don't know if she got grazed by an actual bullet or hit with rock salt or something. Is it because the victim is white and the Father is Hispanic and dark skinned? I don't know but this is Kansas.

Dad still should get convicted with reckless endangerment at least for shooting into a car. Civil suit will be in the favor of Anakin because he has lifelong injuries. Maybe the daughter was being vindictive in reaction to being shot. But none of this happens if the senior prank stays on campus and not in a public place. I believe Anakin was guilty of a crime when he shot his classmate.

It's the kid's fault 100%

Dad is an asshole who should get convicted and daughter is complicit and seems like she wanted this to happen but maybe don't shoot at people in a public place.

Not trying to be a contrarian. It sucks the kid's messed up but it's very hard to feel sorry for a high school senior pranking people in public with weapons. Like someone else said I don't think anyone is right here

Texas officials are urging residents in some areas to use different modes of transportation other than their cars on Friday as ozone pollution in the state reach concerning levels.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has declared an Ozone Action Day for the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Galveston and Brazoria areas because of high levels of ozone, also known as smog. Officials suggested that to help reduce the pollution, people should minimize the use of their vehicles.

"Atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone pollution in the Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas on Friday," the alert posted by the National Weather Service (NWS) said. "You can help prevent ozone pollution by sharing a ride, walking, riding a bicycle, taking your lunch to work, avoiding drive through lanes, conserving energy and keeping your vehicle properly tuned."

The warning comes a day after California also experienced high levels of air pollution and warned people in Imperial County to delay visiting gas stations and using chemicals until ozone levels improve.

As of Friday morning, the Texas cities in question were experiencing moderate air quality valued between the Air Quality Index (AQI) numbers of 50 and 99. Air quality is considered "acceptable" at this level, although some people unusually sensitive to air pollution could experience impacts.

According to AirNow, a coalition between the U.S. government and tribal agencies that monitors air quality, Friday's air quality was expected to be the worst in southern California and southern Nevada, eastern Texas, and in parts of Mississippi and Tennessee. As of 7:30 a.m. Eastern time (ET), the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area had the sixth highest AQI in the nation at 84. The highest was Hidden Valley, Arizona, at 113.

I first-watched it as a 27-year-old Adult and it's just like my fraternity

You got Day 1s that you hang out with (Leorio, Kurapika) and you have people you meet later on that you're actually closer with (Killua).

Your teachers are always your teachers even when you surpass them. (Wing)

You go somewhere far away and different people do the same thing as you in different ways (Chimera Ants)

You will lose your women the same way you gain them (Palm).

Even the baddest people can be beaten in the right match up

The ultimate goal is to be as much of a man as your father was

You're closer to the people you spend the most time with than your family
