I feel similar about "Dot and Bubble" as I do about "73 Yards", in that the premise is good, and the execution works for a majority of it, but the plot twist makes the whole thing fall apart. Specifically the whole, "the slug monsters were engineered to kill you by the social media network, and kill in alphabetical order" is both unnecessary and raises a lot of questions that make the story significantly worse.

I genuinely enjoyed the idea that the monsters aren't even close to being capable at killing people, being so slow and possessing no real skills, and that the only reason they're a threat is because of how vapid and literally trapped in their own bubbles the population is. That's a fantastic metaphor and is hilarious and great. That's all you really need to make the story work. The reveal that they were intentionally created to kill raises tons of questions. If they were ENGINEERED to eliminate the population then why would they be designed to be so bad at it? Sure, they were good enough, but if you're going to go that far why not just design a super-fast monster with swords for hands or whatever? And in the end the "Dot" was revealed to be capable enough to kill on its own (and much, MUCH more effective at it) that it brings up the question of why it bothered with slug monsters at all.

And the "alphabetical order" thing is awful. There's no actual logical reason for the monsters to work that way except to serve as a clue for the Doctor to solve the unnecessary mystery. Why bother avoiding killing some people out of order if you're planning to kill them all anyway? And if they absolutely avoided killing people out of order then why did they try to kill Lindy in the elevator when it wasn't her time yet? It's a stupid, stupid plot point that has no reason to be in the script. It's just there to try and be "clever" and have a twist, when it's the farthest thing from being a clever twist as you can get. I hate it when a potentially good story is ruined because the writer is afraid that being too straightforward with the plot isn't interesting enough. Sometimes it's okay to have a story that is exactly what it looks like.

As I was watching the episode, and they were hinting that there was a pattern to murders and that some people were being saved for later, I had assumed it was because of the user's Follower counts. Like, perhaps they were killing people with low followers first, because if the more popular people went missing first it would have alarmed everyone too soon. In my opinion, THAT would have been a decent explanation. It would have been appropriate to one of the messages of the episode, I think. Too often people get stuck in their own bubbles and don't pay attention to the plights of the people who aren't in the spotlight, whose problems aren't well-publicized, but the suffering of those can end up having ripple effects to everyone else. Like how during covid a lot of essential workers, who didn't have the luxury to work from home and quarantine, died or suffered and caught long covid and couldn't work anymore, or left their jobs because it was too miserable. And now after lockdowns have lifted, EVERYONE is struggling with the lack of workers in important institutions like hospitals, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. This could have been a great allegory for how not paying attention to the plights of those who are too often ignored can end up hurting you eventually, but... nah, let's just have the monster kill in alphabetical order for some bizarre reason...

Sorry for focusing on that aspect instead of the more talked about racism twist, which I liked and thought was done well, but these problems kind of ruined the episode overall for me. Russell T. Davies has this problem where he has great ideas, but fumbles the details way too often. (Also, Jesus, he literally is writing all but two episodes this season. Come on! Let other people write something, Rusty!)

Wonder Woman is the only character that I absolutely hate playing against. It's not even just that she's good, it's just such a struggle to fight her. Even if I win against her I don't feel good because the battle was so frustrating.

For some reason the event where you level up characters isn't working for me anymore. So that's cool.

On the other hand, I'm getting tons of Fighter Currency randomly and I don't know why.

I was honestly really shocked Venom did so well, because it wasn't really any good.

I have no idea what compelled me to watch Venom 2, but that was decidedly meh as well.

It doesn't help that it feels like they didn't spend the downtime refining the first game, they just remade the whole thing. So it's like getting a new beta for the sequel.

Also, is it worth doing the lower difficulty Rifts to get more Gem Boxes if the XP you get is lower anyway? At least, I THINK it's lower, I can barely make head-or-tails of this dumb system.

I think the best bet to leveling up Gems is to do the Rifts with Daily Rewards attached to them. You get a Gem Loot Box for each one.

That said, I can't say if that will be enough to level your Gems in time to complete the Agent Smith challenges.

I've been doing the Target Test level and insta-dying to clear the Rift missions.

There's a new event up where you progress by leveling up your characters. This feels really awful, because I'm assuming like most games it's harder to level up the higher level you are (at the very least, getting your first level is EXTREMELY fast compared to any other). So if you've been playing a lot and been leveling up you'll be much worse off as you'll have to work harder just to progress in the event (and it requires like over a dozen levels in 7 days, good luck)

I kinda doubt even the diner owners would care or understand. You could bring it up with them to find out more about why it was set up and confirm the specifics about it, and then explain why you think it's manipulative to children and see what their response is.

If they don't do anything about it, I saw don't go to the authorities (is this something they would actually do something about? If so, then I guess you should try, but I doubt it) or confront the guy, go to the news. Bad publicity will be more effective against this than most other things I believe.

I'm pretty sure the rift stars just unlock boxes that give XP to level up your rift gems. And you need to level up your rift gems to play the higher tier difficulty rifts.

Also, it's worth pointing out that it's not even flat XP, it's just a gacha. You get random Gems, and if it's a Gem you already own then you get XP to level it up instead. Which is worse since it means you can't focus on leveling anything, it's just luck of the draw.

Doing all of the objectives on every stage on every difficulty in online co-op can't possibly be intended as "fun". It's a thing you can avoid with real-money purchases.

The sad thing is I would do it if it was easier to game with other people, like if there was a matchmaker. I'd at least find that kinda fun. But I don't really want to REPLAY the stuff I've already done just to get the final star. Which I'd NEED to do to get whatever the fuck a "Rift Cauldron" is.

I actually love Banana Guard. He's kinda broken; the side special and side aerial kill super early, and he can charge it up to boot. Combined with his disjoint he gets a lot of cheap kills, but well, I take those. I just don't understand how his crying works. It says it gives your partner Rage, but I don't ever really see it happen.

Yeah. Also, is there no "Retry" option? It feels like you have to exit the level, go to the lobby, and then re-select it to try again.

And I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but you don't actually have to win those minigame levels for some reason. I entered one, died immediately, and the game was like "VICTORY! Here's all the rewards for completing it!"

I thought I was able to side-c-stick out of dash. I have the opposite problem of needing to have been moving continuously for a bit to count it as dashing, as opposed to Smash Bros where you tap, start to move, and immediately press the button.

Just tested out, and yeah C-Sticking doesn't work. That seems like such a simple fix too. You CAN instant Dash Attack by double tapping the direction and attacking, but not being to do the opposite easily is annoying.

I'll be on for a while if anyone wants to play together. Particularly if you want help earn those "play with another person" Rift Stars (I still have no idea what those do)

Do we want to discuss that they removed the ability to play characters you haven't unlocked in offline play, needlessly kneecapping the tourny scene for this game?

Not a great move if you want this game to have longevity.

My main problem with Dash attacks is that I don't know how NOT to do one easily. Most of the time I'd rather do a side attack instead because that's faster than a dash or neutral attack and I can't figure out an easy way to do it. If you use the keybind to set up a side attack button it STILL does a Dash instead when applicable. You can stop moving for a second then tilt in the direction you want to attack in, but that's still unnecessarily slow. The inputs need to be fixed, because that's a major problem imo.

It's hard to think because I can't decide what counts as "emotionally". Even if I appreciated dramatic moments in video games, very few have made me emotional.

The single player thing has the presentation of an absolutely ancient mobile game so that's not great

The thing that really bothers me is how they couldn't make the text wrap around correctly in the boxes. Like, if a word extends past the edge of the text box, it will write until it reaches the edge and then the entire word will jump to the next line. That's embarrassing. That's like something you'd see in a Newgrounds game...
