The Dualshock series of controllers.

About the only good thing that's come out of Sony recently is the fact their controllers are still - for me anyways - the most overall comfortable to use. I will say I still prefer the DS4 over the DS5 due to it's smaller shape and lightweight design, but I've come around to liking and using the DS5 if only because their analog nubs don't rub off as easily as the DS4's do.

It does just feel like a case of that Flu now, however. Not what I would call a pleasant experience, but if I didn't test myself for Covid, I would have just thought I had the Flu.

The most annoying thing for me is it flared up my Gastritis something fierce, and that's something I'm still trying to get back to normal again.

It all just depends on if Blizzard is holding one in 2025 or not. Even if they aren't, we're still planning to head to the Anaheim area anyways for a two or three day visit to Disney Land, then a drive up north to see my father in the Ukiah area.

This may be her father's last Thanksgiving thanks to a degenerative lung disease he developed around this time last year, so I want to make sure she gets as much time as possible with him during the holidays this year.

Lung disease sucks, lost my mom to lung cancer, and now my wife is going through the same thing (albeit without the cancer part) with her dad.

On a lighter note - hoping to also finish my report of FFXV by weekends end, with an attempt to do all the post game stuff before our vacation to Disney World next Saturday.

don't get why you think they're inherently dumb and can't learn how to use one safely

Because kids are, in fact, inherently dumb, and more often then not don't use *anything* safely. But you're right, it's a good thing it's not my trust that matters, and that Walmart is already doing it, so your argument is also a moot point - it's happening regardless of how you or I feel about it.

Maybe dial back the outrage response, and realize I didn't say that they should ban the sell of them entirely, only that like any product that can potentially cause harm if used improperly, it shouldn't be sold to youths (youths, not teenagers) without parental permission. Chest Binders, if used improperly, can cause harm - this is an undisputed fact. It's also an undisputed fact that most kids these days aren't too fucking bright, and probably shouldn't be given wholesale access to a product that they're likely going to look up how to use via the internet and social media.

But as always, I forget that this is GameFAQs and CE, and all the 261'ers whose echo chamber got taken away now have to jump on literally anyone has a slightly dissenting opinion, even when that opinion is presented with facts that are - surprisingly - not right wing or conservative, but simply a concern of not harming kids that a few years ago were eating fucking tide pods.

About the only thing I agree with in that change is limiting the sale of chest binders to youths.

I'm not sure I would trust a kid buying a chest binder and understanding how to use it safely, nor would I trust Walmart to sell a chest binder that is safe to use in the first place.

The rest is nonsense, but at the very least the restriction on chest binder sales is a smart one, even if the restriction is for the entirly wrong reason.

I once worked at a supermarket. The amount of soda we sold... I never realized how much people really drank before working there. We always had four stories worth of pallets stacked in the back, and the soda aisle needed constant replenishment. It was mind-boggling.

Try doing that, but as the Receive. It was really friggin eye opening to me just how much of that crap we actually sold when I was taking in eight to then pallets of Coke three times a week, on top of two delivers of Pepsi with five to six pallets, along with Canada Dry and Snapple for another two pallets on average.

A quarter of my backroom was pretty much taken up exclusively with Coke/Pepsi/Canada Dry/Snapple products that would need to be replenished on a weekly basis. The worst part of it all would be walking out onto the store floor, and seeing people in their seventies or older walking around with three two-liter bottles of Coke in their cart.

I kicked the Soda habit years ago, and have never felt better, though I will admit now I'm slightly addicted to Seltzer water, though I still drink straight bottled water more then anything else.

TopicAnyone live in the Bay Area?
Bladesyphon
11/22/24 12:17:33 PM

My dad moved from Colorado back to California in the San Francisco / Bay area, and he's more or less regretted it ever since. He left CO due to the weather and the cold winters (and his job there really did suck), and while the weather is better in CA for him, and he is back where he was born alongside old friends, he really isn't particularly happy there due to the extremely high cost of living, crime, and unchecked immigration (which can fluctuate from being better or worst depending on how close to wine country you live in). The increasing severity of wildfires in the area are also becoming more and more of a problem for anyone living there, and is absolutely worthy of a consideration and concern if anyone in your family has asthma or breathing problems.

Honestly, if you're looking to move out of Texas to a more blue state simply because you want to live in a more blue state - go to Colorado. IThe price of living is much, much more affordable there, especially if you're living on the western slope closer to the Utah border (where I grew up).

The weather can be fickle, and yes, the winters do in fact get cold, but in my book it's a more affordable option then moving to CA simply because it's the bluest of blue states. The state's also super clean, very picturesque, and depending on where you choose to live, has a lot of options for either more rural, small town communities, or larger metropolitan areas that still manage to have a slightly rustic and rural feel to them. The major concern to have if you opt for CO is the high-altitude can take some time to adjust, and some people simply don't adjust to it, but you do tend to have a bit better luck in that regard if you're living west or east of Denver, where the altitude drops.

CA has a *lot* of problems that I feel get swept under the rug simply because of it's political leaning. I was born there, spent my childhood there, and I would never want to go back, but I absolutely would considering moving back to CO if I no longer could afford to live in the NJ/NY area, and no other location tickled my interest.

How is this click bait ? America has history of doing this very thing to Civil Rights organizations.

Look at the topic - Do any of those words actually match the context of the bill that was passed, at all? The topic makes it seem that the house just passed a bill that lets Trump target anyone he deems an enemy, with literally zero context of what that means.

Making a topic that reads " House passes bill that gives Secretary of the Treasury unilateral power to cut funding to non-profit organizations deemed 'Terrorists Supporters'" would be a lot more contextual to the bill that's being talked about.

But that also doesn't sound anywhere near as fearmongering, now does it? In fact, I would imagine if the TC actually posted that, most people would glaze over the topic in general, because they either didn't understand what it meant, or didn't have any interest in it because it likely wouldn't affect them in any way, shape or form.

But making a topic that says "House passes bill that gives Trump unlimited authority to target his enemies" certainly does.

The cynic in me wants to say becauase if they did that, it would make it much more difficult to Doompost and take news out of context, turning it into clickbaity posts like this topic's title.

The realist in me is because I know most people on this board - and people in their twenties in general - get their news from Twitter and Social Media, and tend to only read the initial clickbaity title and nothing else in the article itself.

The bill itself is still pretty shitty, but it does have a fail safe that - I imagine - wouldn't be *that* difficult to prove, assuming what is and isn't considered a "Terrorist Organization" is clearly defined. It's still not a bill that should be passed as is, but if it's reintroduced with a clearly defined idea of what a "Terrorist Organization" is, I can see the merits in it.

This is how geese react to me (although, this is not my video):

Same. Over the summer I befriended a Canadian Goose that nests in the pond near where I live that I affectionally named "Smeagol", since he'd always run up to me and hiss before I fed him. At first I thought he was just being an aggressive little butt, until started eating out of my hand, and I realized hissing is apparently how he's greeting me.

A few weeks later, the big guy brought over his mate (who I named Deagol), who while never eating out of my hand, still let me feed her - and a few weeks after that - he brought over his mate and two goslings.

Sadly one of the goslings died when it was still a baby, but the other managed to survive and grow up to adult hood. The little guy bonded with me pretty fast, and would be the first one behind Smeagol to get fed when I'd walk up to them. The little guy - who I named Precious, obviously - lets me pet him as well when he eats, he's got literally no fear of me since he's been around me for literally his entire life. It actually got to the point where Smeagol started letting me pet him too, though Deagol still wants nothing to do with me outside of the food.

The trio migrated with another flock a week or so ago, so I'm hoping they survive the migration, and when they return in the spring, they recognize me and I can pick up where I left off with them. Until then, I've also got a trio of ducks and a swan that I've also befriended. The ducks'll eat out of my hand, but the swan is still hesitant, though she comes up to me as soon as she sees me to get her daily snackage of seeds.

well, they shouldn't do that. there is nothing wrong with having a forum for political discussion. if you don't like that it's allowed on CE then maybe you should move to a different social board like RI or PotD.

I'm on a few other social boards, but thanks for your concern. I used to come to CE for the shit posting and memes, but ever since 261 was closed down, this place has effectively become the politics board 2.0, with the old shit posting and memes intermixed, and ever since the election, now with an unhealthy amount of doom posting (though that has tapered off significantly, thank fuck).

Either way - GameFAQs has *never* been a good place for political discussions. Even before 261 was closed, the politics board effectively was the place people who couldn't cut it on actual political discussion forums went.

As for your argument about going to other social boards - I can say the same for you if you want political discussions - take it to dedicated political forums or discords they aren't in GameFAQs instead of muddying up this board.

Either way, I doubt Fandom is ever going to fully ban political discussions on this site, GameFAQs will likely close before that happens, but you can be damn sure I'll be happy as hell if they do a full ban on it, or even just require political tags. Until then, I'll just keep keeping on with hiding topics and blocking users whose entire existence and personality is politics.

Political discussions have just gotten beyond tiring in this website, and most of the Internet in general. It's either unrealistic doom posting, or shit throwing, with no actual intelligent discussion or debates to be had.

No, I actually read the articles you post, and have a basic education and understanding of how the legal and government system works.

The very article you posted states that Trump has made literally no indication on how he plans to do this, and instead has just listed names of people he wants, and then has gone on and said that he's "going to make it happen regardless of the price tag".

That's not even including the fact that he still has to get it approved through Congress, and deal with state level governments who oppose the plan.

He struggled with this very same concept back in his first term, and there's no reason to believe he's not going to struggle with it a second time. Will be manage to deport people? Yes, every president has managed to do that. Will it be to the level he's claiming? Very likely not.

But then - you have *never* actually posted anything on this board that isn't blatant doom posting, so I'm not at all surprised you lack a total and complete understanding of how the government works, and instead likely get your entire education on the system based on social media posts, YouTubers, and reading the titles of articles, instead of the actual content of them.

Prismsblade posted...
It wasnt hand waved, transmutation magic that bowser, Kamak, his son and many others possess all hard counters the metal virus. Aside from that metal power ups are a thing, and his Boo forces are completely immune to it all together.

That... Isn't how the Metal Virus was portrayed in the comics - at all. The Metal Virus was probably one of, if not the, greatest threats Eggman unleashed on the planet, because it was an uncontrollable pandemic that had no cure, nor any way to remove it, save for literally going so fast that the Virus degraded.

If the Metal Virus was dumped on Bowser, or Jr, or Kamek, or all three at once, the fight would have instantly ended there. Immense exposure to the Metal Virus leads to immediate infection within seconds. By the time any of the three realized what was going on, they would have already been infected, and turned into mindless Zombots.

This is made even threatening by the fact that it spreads instantaneously to *anything* organic it comes into contact with. Even with "Plot Magic", there's no conceivable way that Bowswer, Jr, or Kamek would have been able to keep up with the spread of the virus. The moment any one of them became infected with it, it would have taken them - and their "plot magic" - out of the fight immediately, and this is even assuming that the trio would even know what kind of magic spell to use to counter the Metal Virus in a way that doesn't kill the host, something that the literal in-universe characters struggled with in trying to find a way to remove it safely.

The Metal Virus isn't a "power up", it was designed to turn whomever it infected into subservient "Zombots" to Eggman, except the Virus was too well designed, to the point where it evolved to not listen to any orders given by it's own creator. The Virus was a literal "If I use this, I win immediately" button for Eggman, which is why Death Battle immediately hand waved it away say "Well magic will nullify it so we didn't bother to include it in Eggman's arsenal in this fight" - it wouldn't have lead to a fun or interesting battle, so it was ignored, something DB is super guilty of doing constantly, because the show is more about the battle itself, rather than an actual realistic portrayal of who would win.

Prismsblade posted...
Sages simulations are also useless because she has no data on Bowser or his forces. So how could she develop a strategy? And even if she could they dont guarantee anything.

So you know how we're saying DB undersold Sage? This is what we're talking about. Sage is the equivalent of Dr. Strange from Infinity War. She's a living, breathing, super computer that is capable of running an untold number of simulations and calculations in real time - something even DB admitted to in their assessment. She would have found the *one* way to guarantee success, even if it was the *only* way, relayed that information to Eggman and his Badniks, and it would have lead to victory, full stop. Her simulations are the equivalent to Strange's "I found the one way we win, Tony", moment in Infinity War.

While I'll give DB a pass, begrudgingly, for hand-waving the Metal Virus aside because it would have lead to a very quick, very boring, battle, there's literally no excuse for ignoring Sage's ability, and completely misinterpreting the reason why she wasn't able to find a solution to The End's threat due to her handicap, one that Eggman wouldn't have had in play for the sake of the battle.

That still could have lead to an impressive fight that would have played into Eggman's strengths over Bowser's obvious weaknesses. The simple fact is that, while this was a well animated and made fight, the team simply wanted Bowser to win from the get go, and bent the rules in his favor. But as others have said - that's how DB works, they go for the rule of cool, over the actual logistics of who would win.

Eggman should have won based on his merits and what he had at his disposal, but for whatever reason, Death Battle thought the fight would be more impressive and fun to watch if Bowser won, so that's how it went.

The fight itself was great, but the actual research and character assessments this time around were some of the worst they've done, especially in Eggman's side of things.

This is one of those times where DB very obviously played favorites with one character, and significantly downplayed the other. The Metal Virus and Sage both frankly should have made this an entirely open sided fight, but DB handwaved the Metal Virus off because "magic" and completely misinterpreted Sage's processing ability with the whole "She couldn't calculate any way of defeating The End", when it was Eggman who literally told her to find a way to do it without Sonic's involvement.

Frankly Sage alone would have made this a guaranteed victory for Eggman, as her entire character ability is based around the idea of running an unlimited number of simulations to find the one winning strategy.

That said - the animation on this one was one of the best they've done, and it overall was a fantastic episode, they just completely fucked up the assessment and result this time because Nintendo.

you think dorney is better than great adventure? they are kinda close

Honestly yeah.

Great Adventure isn't really that "great" of a park. It's bigger problem is it's age - the park is old, and it's upkeep has been atrocious these past few years.

We went to Great Adventures last year for their Halloween event, and so many of the rides just feel like they're falling apart. Their Dark Knight ride has almost all the animatronics removed, and the pre-show is gone. The Green Lantern got stuck while I was there on the incline for almost an hour, the Justice League coaster barely functions now, and so many of their rides just feel like any other coaster without any real Identity to them.

That's not even getting into their lines and wait times. I can go to Dorney on a Saturday or Sunday and comfortably go on every big name ride without waiting too long, with time to kill, whereas it's usually an hour wait for any of GA's big name rides, and close to half an hour even for their smaller ones on a similar weekend. Great Adventures is also expensive as hell - I can get two tickets for Dorney for the price of one for Six Flags, and I feel like I'm getting less for my money with Great Adventures than I am Dorney.

Great Adventures is also mostly just a thrill park - if you're looking for a variety of coasters or rides, you're not going to really find it at Great Adventures. That's not to say it doesn't have some cool rides - the Houdini House is pretty cool, the Runaway Mine Cart has a neat theming and layout, and I will give GA their Safari Adventure, but the rest is just average at best.

Cedar Point is planning to do a heavy reno of the park in the coming years I've heard, so maybe my opinion on the park will change. But right now, Dorney for me is just the better option.

My wife and I go biannually to Dorney Park in Allentown PA, and it's honestly one of my favorite theme parks to visit that isn't Disney.

We go in the Summer for Wild Water Kingdom, and in October for their Fright Night, and it's always a great time. Their water park slides are fun and varied, and their Haunted Houses and Fright Zones are very high quality and well made, since they're permanent buildings, not pop up tents or converted warehouses like what Six Flags does.

Ride wise, I feel like they have a good variation of coasters for everyone. Steel Force, Thunder Hawk, and Demon Drop are solid entry-level coasters for people who don't like major thrill rides, while Hydra and their new Iron Menace work as great stepping up stones for more inverted rides, and of course, Talon and Possessed are there if you want your ass kicked.

The park also has a lot of the older style carnival rides you don't see too often, such as an old school spinny swing ride, a very quaint and traditional styled Ferris Wheel, an egg scrambler and Wild Mouse, and a pair of great Water Flume rides.

So yeah, if it isn't obvious I absolutely love Dorney Park.

As the trope says, some anvils need to be dropped.

Normally I would agree, but when you have entire social media forums and reddit posts filled with people afraid they're going to get disappeared because they're trans due the result of the election, then maybe airing an episode of a kid's TV show where a character and her friends literally do get disappeared because they're trans might not be the most tasteful thing to do.

Again, it's like the DBZ episode - yes Cartoon Network could have aired it after the 9/11 attacks, because obviously the high-rise building on fire wasn't the twin towers, but it still would have been more than a little tactless to do all the same, so Cartoon Network opted to just cut the episode from the lineup, and move onto the episode that came directly after.

For once, Disney's actually reading the room, and not airing something for the sake of airing it. Besides, the whole "Is this a sign of things to come" nonsense is beyond stupid, considering we just had an entire TV series air on Diseny+ where three of the main characters were openly gay.

This to me honestly feels more like a "time and place" sort of thing, and right now Disney felt this is neither the time nor place to air the episode.

Very.

The episode focuses on a girls' volleyball team being locked in a mystical escape room by the opposing team's coach because she finds out one of the players is trans and wants to stop her from competing.

The whole "locking a trans girl away to keep her competing" concept is probably the main reason why the episode was shelved, not because it was pro LGBTQ.

It reminds me of back when I was a kid, a filler episode of DBZ was cut shortly after the 9-11 attacks because it has Gohan rescuing people from a burning high wise as the Great Saiyaman.

So this feels more like the subject material of the shows plot might be a bit too touchy given who just got elected.

Why didnt they go with the original Silver Surfer?

The movie apparently takes place in an alternate universe to the mainline MCU one, so rather than use Norin Radd, I'm guessing they wanted to use Shalla-Bal to run with the theme.

No idea if we'll ever see Norinn Radd in Earth-616, but given the polarity of both him and Galactus I would be surprised if we don't.

Removing term limits would mean repealing the 22nd amendment, which Trump won't successfully be able to do given the numbers required to do so.

The Supreme Court also isn't going to "interpret it differently" as the amendment is also incredibly cut and dry in its description, because it was written in the 1950s to be very cut and dry.

But let's say somehow Trump manages to find a way to get enough people to vote and repeal it - that would then open up the floodgates for previous democratic presidents like Obama to run ahain against Trump. It would also open the risk to the Republicans wherein if a Democratic president gets elected and is so overwhelmingly popular, they could also run indefinitely.

This would also prevent certain other republican hopefuls, like DeSantis, from being able to run for President if an incumbent Republican president remains too popular to be voted down.

The only way for the repealing of the 22nd amendment to work in Trump's favor would be to create a new amendment that only allows Republicans, or Trump, to run for more terms, which would be even more impossible to ratify.

Trump has proven time and time again he has no idea how the constitution or amendment process works. This is him, once again, flapping his mouth without any understanding of how the process works, and probably believes if he stomps his feet hard enough, he'll get his way, like he did when he threw his temper tantrum back when he lost in 2020.

Stop dooming - Trump isn't going to find a way to repeal the 22nd amendment, and unlike the 2nd amendment, there's not much open for interpretation for the 22nd.

Dead Space was the first (and sadly only) game that has ever made me legitimately freaked out enough that I had to take breaks in playing it. I played plenty of horror games before, and after obviously, but none of them made me feel as uncomfortable and legit frightened as Dead Space did.

There were a few games that came before it that unsettled me a bit - REmake with the hall in the east wing where zombies burst through the windows and pour through was a very unexpected and fun way to be startled when I first went through it, but the Resident Evil games have never really scared me, even when I played them as a kid, so it was more of a simple jump scare startle then anything else.

Wouldn't the new agency require funding?

And approval by Congress, and confirmation of Musk and Vivek by the Senate to head said new agency.

My guess DOGE (my God why) is going to be some not official "official" Trump advisory position...thing.

I'm still not entirely sure what DOGE is even supposed to accomplish, or how it's going to accomplish whatever that is in the span of a single year. Trump's entire statement read like a ten year old who just discovered a bunch of buzz words and strung them together.

You're mistaken.

Seymour didn't think people were happier being dead BECAUSE Sin is around creating a cycle. He knew of Yu Yevon and heck arguably was singularly the most powerful single person who could have fought against Yu Yevon. If he wanted to create a world where there was no cycle he would have aided Yuna and even pulled in Operation Mi'ihen at the same time they attacked Sin.

He just thought that humanity as a whole was so sad and depressed that killing them all was a blessing. Same as Victor Zsasz from Batman

That's... literally what I said. Seymour went batshit insane at a young age when his mother became Anima for the purpose of him using her to bring about the Calm, when all he wanted was to be a normal kid with a loving mother. The years he spent in isolation afterwards lead him to his nihilistic views of the world, where he literally believed the better option for humanity was to die, rather than live in a cycle with Sin, or worst, destroy Sin and find some new and exciting way to kill themselves (which, in that regard, he was right ,given what happened in X-2).

Seymour literally believed Spirans were better off dead, then living in a world with false hope with or without Sin, because he was insane.

UnfairRepresent posted...
They just elected Trump.

If you honestly believe Trump is a nihilistic human being who wants to bring about the end of all life on the planet because he believes that humanity is better that way then living in a world filled with false hope, then you may want to seek help.

The events of FFX and the 2024 election are in no way, shape, or form even relatively close to being the same thing.

Seymour literally wanted to turn into a living bio-weapon for the sole purpose of eradicating all life on the planet because he felt the people of Spira would be happier by being dead, than living in a constant cycle of potential destruction by said bio-weapon.

None of the general population even knew of Seymour's plot, or of his (and Mika's) unsent nature. As far as they were concerned and knew, Seymour was simply going to marry Yuna, and take over her role of summoning the Final Aeon to bring about the next Calm.

I'm failing to see, at all, how America is in that same scenario.

Active much?

It's fairly active with an average of around 150-200 people playing in the evening hours, and routinely updated. It's one of the closest to the original private servers still running, with a development team that strives to keep the game as close to it's origins as possible, while still adding QoL adjustments and continuing to develop it in a way that would mimic what Sega themselves may have done had the game continued.

It's a very solid server, and one worth looking into if you've got the itch to play PSO again.

It's hard to say, and really is going to be heavily dependent on who the Republicans decide to run for 2028.

Obviously Vance is front runner, but he's got the big problem of not being Trump, and I'm honestly curious to see if Trumpers will vote for Vance as Trump-lite, or if their turn out is going to be significantly less come 2028 when Trump is no longer on the ballot.

I'm still of the mind myself that Desantis is going to make another attempt to take position for the 2028 election, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Republican party picks Vance. I also won't be surprised at all if Vance loses in an absolute landslide because "He's not Trump".

But I dunno - I'm terrible at betting and odds, and I don't really make predictions so who the hell knows, but if I had to make a bet, it'd either be Vance or Desantis, and I have a feeling they're going to struggle much harder to get the Trump-era voters to come out and vote simply because "he's not Trump".

the fish's speed is what matters iirc, catch the fast moving ones.

This.

Cid also has an invisible HP count that decreases with each second (or close to), so you're basically having to race against the decreasing HP of the old man while also shoving tasty fish into his mouth.

It's why the mini game can take longer on some playthroughs than others if you go back and being him not tasty fish, as the moderate moving fish don't actually do much in the way of increasing Cid's HP compared to what he loses as you travel between the screens.

I believe it's quicker to simply reset the screen to try to get a fast moving fish, than it is to catch a moderate moving one because of this,.
