dude, I hate our media and late night talk shows so much, I t wasn't until I saw this video that I found out Trump was down in the polls, meanwhile Kimmel, Colbert, Daily Show, Meyers, Fallon, they all say Trump is up, what a disgrace, the only people telling the truth are progressives on Youtube and even they get it wrong sometimes yet most of them tend to own up to the mishaps. The death of the fairness doctrine utterly killed responsible journalism in this country

I think the takeaway is stop listening to people talk about polls

Article is actually just talking about some Republican suggesting that Hunter's conviction could lead to Joe Biden stepping out and Michelle Obama running for President

I thought state secession required the federal government to approve? Or is that wrong?

Also, what does the GOP expect to happen if Texas secedes? It will be harder for them to get to 270 in Presidential elections, and they would likely lose posturing in both the House and the Senate

What am I missing, other than that this is just smoke and mirrors to rile up their base?

Doctor Strange looked at 14,000,605 possibilities, and only one course of action led to victory in the end. Which means one of two things: Either that Starlord punches Thanos in all 14,000,605 scenarios, or that punching (or not punching) Thanos didn't make a difference in the end.

This is also often missed. Star Lord attacked Thanos after Strange saw the 14million futures, so Star Lord breaking up the hypnosis had to happen at that point

So this one is weird to then look like an limitation of the SNES/SEGA era games. Like we went backwards

Also, Eitri gets a mad titan knocking on his door demanding he create a gauntlet that wields the all-power of the universe. He said something like "he thought if he made it for Thanos he would spare the 300 dwarves that lived there". But that was worth whatever Thanos would do to the rest of the universe?

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I'd say that the Cap situation is at least comparable to Gamora's. And when comparing the two, I'd put more fault on Gamora, knowing that she literally knew Thanos better than anyone else, knew what he intended to do, what he was capable of, and had the same consequences looming over here that Cap did. But I think worse with Gamora since she was closer to the Thanos situation than Cap ever was.

UnsteadyOwl posted...
I can't remember, how much information did they give us in the movie about the map Gamora found? Who made it? How did she find it? Had anyone else seen this map?

I guess what I'm getting at is do we really know that Gamora was the only person in the galaxy who knew the location of soul stone. Thanos found it when he did because she gave up the location but maybe given enough time he would have eventually found it by some other means.

We don't know this info. You could say that someone else knew about it, sure, but then we're just speculating. The movie tells us that the location to the Soul stone was something that Thanos couldn't find, Gamora found it, she burned the map, lied to Thanos, and only told Nebula that she had burned it. The movie leans into Gamora being the only accessible person who knew where to find it, but there's no guarantee one way or another that Thanos would be able to find someone else with the same information of it's whereabouts.

Dude, did you not understand the plot at all? Everything that happened between Dr Strange meditating with the Time Stone, until the final scene where Steve Rogers returns all of the stones to their proper origins, was observed and planned out.

No, I think I'm just taking issue with the way it is presented as Strange's actions being a "fault" the same way the other character's actions are.

I don't see Strange as having "fault" for taking the route he did, since he was able to foresee what happened in those 14 million futures and he chose the only one that would give them the win. He didn't mistakenly choose something that led to a bad result without him knowing that result was coming, like the rest of them. That almost puts him in a different category.

I think this might just be a semantics argument coming from me. The intent of my topic is to know whose fault it is that the blip happened based on their actions. Strange's actions were based on seeing the future and choosing the one that would actually save them in the end. So looking at it from one perspective, yes, I agree you can say the blip happened because quite literally Strange gave up the time stone. So in that sense, he is at "fault", but not sure I'd argue that it's a fault in his case, since literally every other option would have been the same or worse without leading them to eventual victory.

Anyway, my argument is more with whether Strange's specific choices were a fault or not, but I also don't really have the bandwidth to argue back and forth on that, so I likely won't continue trying to make my point on that one situation after this post

I'm surprised no one is voting Gamora. She burned the map to the Soul stone. She then gave up the info to Thanos when Nebula was being tortured, so I get it - her sister was being hurt. But at the same time, she knew the consequences of Thanos getting the stones better than anyone, since half the people from her home world were killed. And being Thanos' daughter, she knew how crazy he was and that he would do it. So you'd think she'd put the fate of the entire universe above her sister/herself being tortured.

Or Eitri. Sure, he thought that making the gauntlet would spare the rest of the dwarves, but look how that turned out. His choice to save the dwarves was an emotional decision, just like Star Lord's.

Or even Hulk (not Banner). Here you literally have huge angry monster who is afraid to come out because Thanos beat him in a fight. Why no blame for Hulk? At least Banner, a regular human, had the balls to keep fighting.

Let's look at the observable facts here

Avengers: Clint is there = good guys win
Age of Ultron: Clint is there = good guys win
Civil War: Clint's team accomplishes their goal at the airport, so technically they "win" that fight
Infinity War: Clint isn't there = bad guys win
Endgame: Clint is there = good guys win

You can't argue with that math

I wouldn't argue with that math, but I'd also say that you can't blame him when literally no one invited him to the party lol. He isn't all knowing about what is happening everywhere in the world

Edit: Also I realize you were responding to the other poster about why Hawkeye is valuable, not necessarily in that post that it was his fault

I'm surprised your company even offered bereavment for a cat, I don't think I've ever heard of that.

I don't think I even get more than a week if my Mother dies.

I could see an argument for the worker needing additional time if this was like an emotional support animal, but not sure if that's the case.

But since his name is Donald Trump, it's anyone's guess what will happen

This topic is a huge overreaction. He's not attacking AOC. He's attacking the reality that House hearings have this stuff happen regularly because
1. Having 438 seats leads to unserious bomb throwers like MTG getting elected
2. The House lacks the decorum standards of the Senate so when you get those types, it's chaos.

Outside of some crappy Israel stances, Fetterman has been pretty good policy wise. Trying to paint him out as a Sinema type over 1 fucking stance that is common amongst Dems is lunacy

This, I was so confused after reading the tweet and surprised that it took until post 66 to bring this up. Im not saying anything about the other things that have been brought up about him ITT, but this tweet did not seem like he was attacking AOC specifically and the House really is a shitshow. So Im struggling to see why people are overreacting to the tweet

im also happy to be proven wrong if Im missing something

Ultimately - its making me reflect on how shitty social media has made politics. It didnt used to be that politicians opinions were so publicized outside of political campaign speeches and whatnot , so now we have people making tweets and commenting them and parties are dragging politicians for basic stuff like this and they end up losing votes because of it. This is all well and good in practice but the problem is that Dems will stop voting for someone because of dumb stuff like this, where as MAGA/GOP stick together and dont give a shit about the off the wall stuff that is done and said by their politicians. It hurts us (Dems) in the long run.

of course, the social media situation has its benefits, because the times where a politician does show their true colors, at least we know they are a piece of shit and can vote/act accordingly.

i realize im probably rambling, but posting this on mobile while I wait for my car to be fixed
