Nice, keep at it. I'm using Duolingo myself... on a 1400+ day streak in Japanese.

I know there are better tools for learning, but I'm only doing this casually, doing 2-3 lessons a day.

Yeah, Im not really in a rush, but I am finding Duolingo to be an entertaining way to learn, at least. Maybe in about 5 years or so, Ill take a trip to Japan, but Ive got a lot of financial goals I want to hit before I even think about taking a trip anywhere.

And yeah, my plan wasnt to go to Japan or even a Japanese restaurant speaking like an anime character. My goal with anime is to understand what is being said in Japanese. Hopefully one day Ill be able to watch with Japanese audio and not need subtitles.

For actually interacting with people in Japanese, Im not planning to rely solely on Duolingo at all.

Duolingo is kind of crap with non-roman alphabet languages. Plus the Japanese grammar and pronunciation is unnatural.

Id also stay away from anime, and veer towards dramas if you want to watch stuff. Anime Japanese is. Never how people here actually speak. Youre going to embarrass yourself if you mimic that. The morning dramas are good if you can stomach them.

Its really hard to find good ways to learn Japanese, as hardly anyone outside Japan speaks it, but boy do so many internet people and youtubers love to think they are fluent because of anime. Please focus on what people who live there, or foreigners who have lived there ( not toured there) suggest.

Most people will say use Anki, as it has the most accurate and useful learning tools for Japanese. You could also find online teachers, but. Thats hard to find a Japanese person who actually understands the needs of a foreigner learning Japanese. The way they learn Japanese is not the way a westerner learns a language.

Anyway, use Anki, write in a notebook, repetitive phrases. Its boring but it will help you if you dont have anyone else to speak to. Duolingo is for freshening up, but it will not teach you good Japanese.

My plan right now is to use Duolingo to learn the basics of hiragana, katakana, and basic phrases. At some point, Im going to move on to another tool like Anki or something else. Ive already started using a Youtube video to help me drill hiragana characters because I felt like I wasnt learning them well enough with Duolingo alone.

For 4, Ive learned yon / / . Yon ji ) is 4 oclock. Yon sai (is 4 years old.
For 7, Ive learned nana / / . Nana ji is 7 oclock and nana sai is 7 years old. Ive also learned that shichi is an alternate pronunciation for , but Duolingo is mostly using nana so far.

Yeah, I know a tiny tiny bit of Spanish. I wanted to learn Japanese in high school, but my mom forced me to take Spanish instead. I get why, but I wish I had just taken Japanese classes any way.

My first Spanish 1 teacher was from France and had a thick French accent. She said her French accent prevented her from rolling her Rs properly for Spanish. Then she got mad at us late in the year because we didnt know how to roll our Rs properly either. My 2nd Spanish 1 teacher was GREAT. Then she quit because the kids were so bad. My Spanish 2 teacher was OK, but I didnt retain much. We mostly just did worksheets instead of more verbal learning in her class.

Id put mine between minimal and mild. I have all 3 of the items for minimal and I have some changes in concentration and sleep.

Im starting to pick up on and understand bits and pieces of Japanese being spoken when I hear it in anime, which is pretty cool. Im also starting to be able to at least read (and sometimes understand) the Japanese titles as well as some of the written sound effects in manga.

Im now on the Duolingo section where you learn to talk about hobbies like playing basketball/soccer/baseball, listening to music/jazz/rock/J pop, reading books/manga/news, watching news/TV.

Another day, another step towards hopefully becoming fluent one day.

I think the prosecution is well aware that Cohen has a lot of credibility issues. From what I read, it seemed like the prosecution mostly wanted him to testify to verify the documentary evidence that ties him and Trump to the scheme.

Regardless of Cohen's issues with perjury before congress and in court, the defense hasn't done anything to explain away the documentation and Trump's admissions that he reimbursed Cohen for the hush money payment. Nor have they done anything to explain away the fact that they falsified documents in attempt to cover it all up.

Yep, it should absolutely be the standard in every state to have front and back plates mandatory. No reason not to. Dealers should be required to include both plate holders, it shouldn't be on the customers *looks at Tesla*.

When I got mine, I asked them about this specifically because I had seen so many in Texas without front plates. When I took delivery, the frame for the front plate was on it. So I'm guessing people in states where the front plate is required either didn't ask for it or asked them to not put a front plate frame on.

It really blows my mind that these people just willingly did shit to give up their livelihoods, freedom, families, etc. to go commit crimes on Trump's behalf. This dude got an 18 month sentence, so he's likely getting out soon, but even then he's going to have to deal with the legal system because he'll be on probation for a while. Warrantless searches sounds like you'd be on pins and needles all day and all night for the duration of your probation.

Edit: Just remembered I called the FBI to report this guy because he posted a video online bragging about what he did. I'm guessing I was one of many, lol. I believe he was arrested about 5 days or so after I reported him.

I'm also of the mind that it's beneficial to require both front and back license plates for the same reasoning of it being easier to catch hit and runs with dash cams if they have a front license plate.

I've never really felt the need for one. Even ignoring the potential privacy concerns, my home office is in the room next to the front door and I'm always home except for like one day per month. There's never really been any porch pirates issues in the area plus even with the blackout shades in my room, I can usually hear a delivery truck pull up outside and can get packages right away.

I have a Tesla and it came with a front license plate frame. People have to be aware of the laws in their states.

I open the door and tell them I'm working and not interested and that's the end of it. I don't let them go through the spiel or anything, I've just learned to recognize when they are solar salespeople from what they're carrying.

Having a smart doorbell helps with this. You can just talk to them through the doorbell itself from anywhere as long as you have a data connection.

I like that in Korra, the main villain was our first airbender villain, at lease if you can consider that an airbender with the spirit portal somehow gifting a whole new generation of humans wind powers, rather than natural born wind benders.

So we got water bender villain, airbender villain, and earth bender villain. To contrast with the avatar's fire nation all being the villains. That was one of the good things about Korra, it explored all new avenues and contrasted perfectly with Avatar.

I've never wanted to do door to door sales. There are way too many instances of people getting harassed and/or shot/shot at just for knocking on people's doors for various reasons.

It's quite rich for MTG to insult anyone's intelligence. She struggles to read large numbers and thinks people who have solar panels on their homes don't have working electricity at night.

I has a weird dream that I had lost some of my keys in a large office building after the office closed. I put together a whole plan to mission impossible my way in. I dropped down from the ceiling but couldnt find my keys anywhere. I ended up setting off an alarm so I was running around trying to avoid the police searching the building. I ran out the back door.

I woke up thinking I had to get back in somehow to get my keys and it took me a bit to realize that none of that made sense.

I've got an Apple Watch Ultra 2. It's the best smart watch I've ever had and the only one I've worn for more than a few months.
