Actually Chappele's album I've found is pretty divisive, you either really love it or you reaaaaaaally don't care for it so it's not the most surprising in hindsight

I think this is true. I wouldn't say I reaaaaaaly don't care for it, but it definitely left me cold. There were no albums I hated this go-through, everything I rated at least 3/5 stars on rateyourmusic, but most of Chappell's felt kind of boring and uninteresting both in terms of the production and hooks. Hot to Go! was the only track I put on my longlist for song selections, and I didn't come close to cracking the top 25. I think the highs for Midwest Princess were higher than my #24 choice, AFI, but the AFI record was more solid.

Maybe I'm just an old sack of coal out of touch with modern pop music, but I enjoyed Brat and Renaissance and the recent stuff from Jessie Ware + Carly Rae + Dua Lipa. I think this just doesn't resonate with me.

It was a lot of slightly educated guessing on my part, based on my own rankings, where I know my tastes differ from the group, and vague remembrances of the track ranking weeks. Pink Floyd and Radiohead were easy Pot 1, and Dan Terminus and Aphex were easy Pot 5. For anything that might be considered a "classic" then I erred slightly higher, while the "instrumental/vibe" albums I erred slightly lower.

I do think that Pink Floyd and Radiohead are obvious Pot 1s and I sadly agree that there is a low ceiling for the instrumental albums. I don't think Mingus, DJ Shadow or Nujabes make the top 10.

AFI was fine but it was also the only album with no songs that made my longlist for top songs and it really didn't stand out against stiff competition

My 25th album is still out there and is currently in Pot 1, but I think I will put my bet on Pot 2, no specific album

Thought they'd keep Gundy around to the end of the season and give him a forced retirement, in appreciation for all he's done for OK State.

Then again him whining about money before Oregon and refusing to make any kind of case for why he should stay probably didn't help him any.

Will be sad to see it happen, but it seems Selected Ambient Works has a lot of haters.

I missed Dan Terminus during the rate the track week, so I listened to it for the first time for RtA. Pretty fine record, was originally at the bottom of my list and rose up to spot #21.

Not sure how to phrase this category. Im not even 100% sure of the difference between Hispanic and Latin American.

Hispanic refers to Spanish-speaking culture, Latin America refers to the countries in the Americas with roots on the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal). Brazil was a Portuguese colony and they do not speak Spanish, but they are still Latin.

Or a simpler way to think about it, Hispanic excludes Brazilians, Latin includes Brazilians.
