In the story of the games, the monsters don't actually "team up." In Rampage, you compete against each other, hence why there is only one "winner" of each stage, based on score. It feels like you missed the point of Rampage, entirely.

How hard is it to mutate some humans in to monsters, have them team up against the evil corporation while the said corporation hires the military to try and stop them as the monsters destroy the military and buildings on their way to get revenge.

Focus on the monsters instead of the humans.

Rampage ended up being much closer to the games than the trailers suggested it would be, at all, especially compared to other video game movies. The main difference was the origins of the monsters, and the fact the story was told from the perspective of the humans, not the monsters.

It doesn't follow any of the games.

Lizzy was changed to a crocodile instead of being a Lizard.

Having some elements of the games doesn't make it close the games it's based on.

Honorable mention to Rampage. The monsters were mutated by commercial sources, even if their origins were actual animals, and not people that turned into monsters. And then said monsters were drawn toward rampaging through a city, literally ending up with trying to climb a building due to a... Radio signal? And the military had to stop them.

Rampage didn't follow any of the games, it wasn't even close to be anything like the games.

Not a movie, but The Last of Us is the closest adaptation.

I've heard it is, I do want to check it out eventually.

I'd say "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" was about the closest we ever got to a movie following the game or games it's based on.

The Mario Bros animated movie didn't really do it, it seemingly threw a bunch of stuff from the games in the movie.

Looks like Return to Silent Hill might actually follow Silent Hill 2.

The first Silent Hill movie didn't really follow the game it's based on, the 2nd one didn't either.

For once I want a movie based on a game that follows the storyline of the game it's based on and elements from the game are present in the movie.
