Sure the alternatives at the time were Wallz and Knightz, but Red voted Kirby before that and seemed awfully casual about switching to MI.

Doesn't even necessarily need a real redirect.

if anything I would be more likely to believe someone is hiding a town bus driver claim and they've redirected a couple of the odd kills (like isquen)

I think it makes it clear Ulti must be town after all, it is clearly made in an attempt to mess with his scan, regardless of red's alignment. They were probably very sure he would scan red and weren't as sure of a target previously. That's my best take.

This is my inclination.

But they also could have been trying to predict a rb or taunt. But those are complicated theories that I'm not even sure are valid.

Like if you watch someone that performs rb+kill on someone, you only see that person on the target once.
