Even though I'm not necessarily a fan of the spunky teenage girl assistant in Ace Attorney, I always really liked Maya. Her chemistry with Phoenix is really great and I don't think a defense/assistant pairing ever quite matched their energy. While I do like investigating, I feel like some of the more memorable moments are the ones where Maya takes an active role in them. I also like her storyline and arc a lot. It's unfortunate that Maya is excluded in so many cases, but at the same time, I feel like she makes sense for her to be away in all of those cases. --- I can't live forever With my head and my heart in the clouds |

Sahwit: 5/10. Payne's probably a 4/10 but his 3-1 appearance is so good that it boosts him a lot. They make good use of him such as him beating Tigre in 3-1 and his cameos in the Investigation games. Stone's a victim. She's not the worst victim. I like that she's not entirely innocent, but not entirely awful. Sahwit's nothing important, but similar to my thoughts on 1-1, he does a really good job of giving you a taste of what AA could be. Even though I feel like they're very recent, they share very different spaces. I did consider LoL as a HM, but I'm just so far removed from any of that. Most agree that he peaks in 1-4 and 3-5, where he shows some depth. On the other side of that coin, he becomes a joke in most other appearances and not really a good joke. After a few games with other judges, it's always nice to see the Judge. He's got an easygoing air about him that makes him just as fun as any other Ace Attorney character. He adds a lot of humor, but is serious enough to not be a joke. I'm not sure what he got that other judges don't. Other than his brother, the other judges don't quite hit it like he does. But that looked like late-game stuff to me. Oh yeah, it's definitely a tough series of fights. If you're interested in the rewards, I definitely think doing Hard Mode stuff is pretty frustrating, so I definitely wouldn't recommend for everyone. I'm happy with just doing all quests (including protorelic) and doing all global intel. He peaked in AA and just feels less likable in every appearance since. I like Larry in general. His relationship with Phoenix and Edgeworth is fun and is used really effectively in 1-4 and 3-5. I also like the idea that he's this unpredictable witness for both the defense and prosecution, again best used in 1-4 and 3-5. But he's stuck in amber and never really grows. I feel like they could have taken Larry down two reasonable paths: he keeps getting in trouble but is generally a reliable friend or he finally "makes it" as an artist and matures. They...kinda do both, in that he does have success as an artist, but he's still really immature. The more sketchy parts of Larry where he's hitting on taken women or younger women is also...pretty terrible. --- I can't live forever With my head and my heart in the clouds |

Aliases: N/A My rating: 9.2/10 I used to really not like Mia. In terms of gameplay, she always provided an easy out, with 1-2 being the worst of it. Turning my thinking towards story and character, though, and Mia really improves. I like that she plays the mentor role completely straight. She's this great lawyer that Phoenix needs to rely on early in the game but he learns to adopt Mia's words and strategy until he surpasses Mia by the end of the OT. So many of the most endearing motifs in Ace Attorney stems from Mia. Of course, playing T&T just cemented Mia's spot for me. I think her romantic pairing with Godot is a little off, but it's not really the spotlight at all for either character. --- I can't live forever With my head and my heart in the clouds |

He's incredibly likable, both in the mundane moments and during the emotionally high moments. He grows so much in every game of the OT. He only loses points because his story doesn't end at the OT. Notably, the AJ appearance really brings him down to being unrecognizable. They salvaged it with his DD and SOJ appearances, but it's hard to come back from that crazy swerve. I do like that he comes off as far more respectable, especially when controlling Apollo and Athena, which fits with where his character's at. Unfortunately, they kinda give Phoenix a few "notable" characteristics to separate him from Athena and especially Apollo. DD-era Phoenix is known for his bluffing, which......I mean, he bluffs a few times! --- I can't live forever With my head and my heart in the clouds |
