It's funny you mention Xenosaga. I've tried that playthrough 3 different times. Always get through the first game (love it) but end up fading out in Xenosaga 2. Never finished it. Thus, sadly I've never played Xenosaga 3.

I did not have them on my bingo card either. Personally, I hope they win that division.

Also, the Brewers were denied free burgers from George Webb's when they lost yesterday, snapping their 11 game winning string.

George Webb's is a greasy spoon diner franchise in the Milwaukee area that has been around for a long time. Their owner made a bold promise back in 40s that if the local baseball team would win 12 in a row, they'd give out free burgers. It's a promise the restaurant chain still honors to this day. They've only had to own up to it twice in franchise history. This would have been a third, but alas, the Seattle Hamburglars denied us that privilege. As revenge, they belted 17 hits (no homers of course) to win today.

Oh, by the way, the Brewers have the best record in baseball! I will celebrate that for however long it lasts for.

The Pirates continue their string of oddities by getting swept by the White Sox (worst team in AL) only to then sweep the Tigers (best team in AL) in back-to-back series.

Remember earlier this year the Pirates were the first team ever to shut out a team for an entire series only to subsequently be shut out the very next series. That was the demarcation line where their 6 game winning streak turned into an 8 game losing streak.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. Like once you get to the final couple rounds, it becomes possible to anti-vote with impact. Like Tifa for example. But its not only in the endgame, literally at the end of every round is an opportunity to anti-vote with the snipe. And I'm not just taking about picking which of the two remaining characters you like more, I'm talking about holding your vote with intent to kill a particular character.

Sound like I'm spouting conspiracy theories? There was a user, this contest, who admitted during the top 10 to holding their vote until Seymour was safe because they wanted to try to snipe him out if he was one of the last two remaining. Once he was safe, they said something like "well, since he's safe I might as well stop holding and make a save."

If that individual were to effectively execute that snipe that round, would that not be successful anti-voting? Like it obviously is limited in its scope to endgame and endround but I feel like there are enough examples, not just with Seymour, I mean look at Terra for example, that would indicate that it is possible to anti-vote with impact at certain points in the contest.

Hey, I first brought this up around the top 10, you can add my name to the list too. Though, I would say offering a NR is fine. But offering saves for rounds beyond next round should be banned.

Facts. My goal was to get him to a final. Win or lose, just getting there was my end goal, and I would have very likely moved on to maining someone else had he achieved that. And I still might.

After all, the "3rd place and no further" club is an eclectic bunch, filled with joke runs, classic powerhouses, and crazy trains. It's a prestigious group in its own right and now he's a part of it.

For what it's worth Suprak, I'm kind of bummed Tifa didn't make the final knowing now that Seymour didn't make the final. These current two finalists are just blah for me, but I would've voted for Tifa in the Finals if she had made it. I do honestly think she has as good of a chance as anyone to reach a final again within the next 5 years. Her or some other FFVII girl at least. It's bound to happen eventually, right?

That Sabin voters did not have an overflow for the majority of the top 10? Because I don't know what contest you were paying attention to, but that seemed obvious. Once again, nothing nefarious about that. But just pointing out the facts.

Or maybe that Seymour wasn't boxed out in Day 98? I mean look, there were several Sabin voters between Discord and the topics that indicated they were pushing for Garnet/against Seymour. Garnet was behind Day 97 and we know about Sabin's overflow. Yet, Day 98 as you mention was incredibly close. Let's connect the dots here. Once again, nothing nefarious outside of anyone who was ill-intentioned, but I believe it constitutes a box out. You can disagree I suppose if you like.

And of course, Sabins voter base was so huge that they weren't a unanimous blob. People likely had different opinions, but the only public push I saw from Sabin voters was to get Garnet in over Seymour.

Nobody is accusing you Leon or anyone else who doesn't like Seymour. It's okay to not like Seymour.

The Sabin overflow was real this contest. I know they tried to hide or minimize it, but they had the numbers and the overflow votes to be able to manipulate the contest to their favor. Don't get me wrong, nothing bad or wrong was done here. It was just a group of people who had the numbers, consisting of a lot of veteran board members who probably communicated and planned well. They boxed out Tifa because she was a threat. Boxed out Seymour because they don't like him. And got the final they wanted. They executed it well. If I'm miffed by anything, it's the reason why some of them hate Seymour, but I have already touched on that and don't want to discuss that further.

I'm saying talk about Seymour being an underdog was never about stats. It was about whether he could actually win the whole thing. Bringing up Layle in the same breath should make it obvious that stats don't necessarily mean you have any chance to win the whole thing.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. People looking at the stats can be tricked into thinking that Seymour is a perennial contender or, at the least, could make it there any year if the stars line up correctly, but the reality is that he was never a threat to make the final outside of this year. There is a difference between a perennial high performer and a perennial contender.

This was his first and probably last real threat of actually making a final. Well, I won't say last, since depending on how long this contest runs, maybe he can make another push in 5-10 years again, if the stars happen to line up again like they did this time. But I know there are a lot of people here who would probably agree that it would be a safe bet to say that his 3rd place placement this contest is likely as high as he will go. And you know what, that's still a great accomplishment. Would have been nice to get into the final, but he got boxed out and it wasn't meant to be.

I'm just annoyed a little at all the minimizing from people. "Oh he does this all the time, look at his stats". No, this was his first and only legitimate chance to actually make a final. That would make someone an underdog in my book. Hopefully, one day in the future, he'll get another one. But that's just me trying to be optimistic. I do believe deep down this was likely his one and only chance.

Well, this one hurts. It's those headwinds I was talking about yesterday. Really on two fronts.

First, a lot of people just don't like Seymour, and while I don't understand it because Seymour is awesome, I have to accept that. What I don't accept is the second set of headwinds that he has to face, which is people who just don't like v_charon and don't want to see any character he likes succeed. I wish that wasn't part of this game.

I know maturity is not a strong suit among us. I mean, look at where we are and look at what game we're playing. But yet, I still wish we operated a little above that level of petty. And it's not even just one or two people that are this way. It's discouraging, to say the least.

While I'm disappointed now, I will over time be proud of getting him to 3rd this contest. A new personal best. And I'm still amazed at all the support he got this year.

Thanks to Quinton, Ulti, and even Lopen for agreeing to support him from the start. You were a rockstar this whole contest Quinton getting Seymour and Tidus just about every round. Ulti, it's been fun getting to know you and having you in our text chat. Lopen....thanks for being Lopen, our stand-in leader and honorary black sheep. Special thanks to Genny for just being awesome and all the text reminders and for your support down the stretch.

Thanks to everyone who jumped aboard the train. Some sooner than others. All equally appreciated. It looked like he was going to make it there for a second. I'm not sure where Garnet's strength came from there in that round, but well played, I guess. Perhaps the haters won after all.

And to v_charon, my brother in the trenches for all these years, sorry we didn't make it, and I'm even more sorry for the reason why we didn't make it. Once again, I hate that that is a part of this game. But maybe once the dust has settled, we can look back at this and marvel at how we ever got Seymour to 3rd with all that headwind he's got going for him. If this is the end of our push for Seymour, then it's been an honor.

I'm going to sit out this final, but good luck to whoever still has a favorite in the running.
