I would love if the single player played as a straight faced gritty war story, treating every day household items as dire situations. Any sort of tongue in cheek self awareness by the characters would ruin it.

I used to watch various Ghost shows. I remember thinking Ghost Hunters was the best because they seemed to only use "scientific" methods. There was even an episode where they found out the owner of the building faked a haunting, and they immediately stopped hunting, chewed him the fuck out and left

for the actual game itself, the plot is somewhat minimal. What game does have is a ton of interesting background lore that could absolutely feed into a show.
