TopicWhy are writing styles from the 1800s confusing to read?

Not exactly antiquated English like you read in Shakespeare, but I'm referring to writing styles academics use for philosophic journals. Why is the syntax so different from modern reading material? It just sounds unnecessarily complex and pretentious. It usually reads like someone took adderall and decided to write a journal after not sleeping for weeks on end. If I catch myself reading through material multiple times to interpret the meaning, does that mean my level of comprehension is poor? This is sort of giving me cognitive dissonance.

As a single male living MCOL, I would rather drive a bus/do construction work and make 50k vs doing office work with extreme deadlines that only seem to compound. The former is predictable and muscle memory can alleviate stress that comes from unpredictable work flows. Whereas with office related jobs like accounting, I feel like no matter how well you're prepared, the level of stress doesn't seem to lessen. You finish one task, and suddenly you have 10 more to finish before lunch time. Unless the work nature is predictable like with physical work, I feel like I would be required to exert more mental energy doing accounting work than I ever would with blue collared work.

If I dread doing the accounting work for school, wouldn't that feeling only extend when I'm in the workforce? I figure learning more accounting material isn't going to make my job any less difficult. I feel like I'm going to be exhausted every time I'm done with work. If that's the case, wouldn't I be better off working a job that's more physically taxing and in return have the freedom to relax my brain?

TopicIf you pee 10 times in a night, is it wasteful to flush every time?

I was wondering how much damage could urine build up cause overnight? I always flush whenever I pee. Maybe I should consider thinking about conserving water use and limit my flushes to the morning?
