Kevin actually did overtake Estelle as my favorite character from Trails towards the end of 3rd, but then the very end happened and Estelle's speech to Renne in the ending was just perfect. Definitely my #2 pick from the Sky trilogy and honestly maybe even the whole series (think most of the competition would be in Crossbell with Randy and Tio alongside Renne herself)

Kevin's Stigma S-Craft reveal in... Chapter 4, I think... of 3rd is an all-timer though. The music and then the still-reigning champion of S-Craft incantations.

Poor Kevin literally forgotten by Falcom though when in the initial release of Daybreak they forgot to include him in a CG of the Dominions and had to patch it to put him in lmao. At least he finally, finally, returns in Horizon. now remember anelace you cowards.

Ein has been hyped up for so many games that at this point it almost feels like she's doomed to be underwhelming.

Everyone that knows her puts her in the Arianrhod/Aurelia power level tier and she runs one of the more secretive Church groups. That's a lot of pressure!

She wants people with summons/memosprites. Pretty sure she especially wants Hyacine.

She can be either Main DPS or a Sub-DPS for Castorice.

For Castorice, the team ends up looking like Castorice/Evernight/Hyacine/Tribbie (or RMC. Pretty sure Hoyo wants it to be RMC but Tribbie is too strong)

By herself as main DPS I dunno exactly but I'm guessing RMC, Hyacine, and like Tribbie/Ruan Mei/etc.

75 pulls but won the 50/50 for Evernight. Should be good to go to get Cyrene next patch since I'm sitting on ~125 pulls right now.

Proceeded to use my 13 Fuel to try and get Evernight's relic set and got 0 acceptable relics. Ended up Crafting the Body and Boots (and had to go twice on one of them because the first result was such trash ugh self-modeling resin down the drain) and then just spammed synthesis for Head/Hands and... it's not great, her Crit Rate is so bad but I think it'll be passable for now. Not like anyone outside maybe my Hyacine has good relics lol.

Also been in an ongoing back-and-forth with HSR Customer Service after I sent a bug report about not being able to get the "have all the banana mobs broken at the same time" achievement in DU (I've been achievement hunting for a while now and before 3.6 dropped I had all but 19 Achievements, and 9 of those were locked behind the gacha and 6 more were mostly "play longer" type things like get enough Stagnant Shadow runs or 50 characters owned.) Sent the bug report, got a reply from them asking for a video clip showing it not working, went back in there and did that, and just now they replied and asked me to specifically do it on the last phase of the fight. Honestly, this has become way more than I bargained for when I was just thinking "that was weird, may as well let them know since there's an in-game report feature" but I feel committed now and I'm curious how this all ends up, but gotta sleep so I'll see if I can get them that attempt tomorrow.

Eh, I think the VA elections are generally overhyped since it's one of the only games in town in the year after the presidential election. It's really only a story if the Dems blow what should be a comfortable win IMO. (Or the Trump administration uses it as a test ground for suppression efforts.)

Off off-year party out of power should cruise given VA is already bluish-purple. But as long as they don't end up in some nailbiter I wouldn't make too much of the margin unless it's like a historic blowout.

Old news, they're already TACOing it
Is this about the fact that the visa thing also has a "the administration can just waive the fee for anyone they want for whatever reason they want" clause?

I'm not sure that's TACO so much as more blatant corruption where they exempt companies that bend the knee/donate to them and leave "woke" companies/companies they want to pressure to bow before them on the hook for it.

Certainly it gives an avenue for TACO down the line if they apply it across the board or something (making it free instead of the old fee of ~$2,000)

By my Arts, Kurt is such a fraud. He's A-rank IIRC but you're telling me Estelle and Joshua still aren't there as of yet? How is this guy ranked above every other Bracer in Liberl minus Cassius and Zin (who was only there on a personal favor)

Cedric... I know his very first intro in CS1 has Olivier basically nervously trying to ignore how Cedric has chosen Osborne as one of his positive role models but not knowing how to explain to him why Osborne is not someone to look up to... and I want to say we're told somewhere in CS3/4 that Osborne played some critical role in his recovery during the timeskip between CS2 and CS3 as possible motives for why he was so attached to Osborne.

_stingers_ posted...
What did he get out of it? I'm sure there was something but I don't remember. Was he just grateful for being given the divine knight so he helped them, and wanted more power like that? Or was there some other reason? Did he think he would be given a position of power in their new world order government if Osborne's plans ended up succeeding? I guess that's as good of a reason as any, but I don't recall his motivations that well.
This, though, I think the answer is literally "bro didn't think that far ahead." Literally the truthbomb that other-Kurt drops on him in the final confrontation in their last fight in CS4 at the final dungeon is basically, "...So, let's say you beat us here. What exactly is your plan? You realize the rivalry means you have to fight Osborne to the death, right? And if you don't, he sure will." and he just has no answer to the party.

So, I finally took the overdue plunge and subscribed to Crunchyroll (via Prime but it seems to have everything there I think?)

so now i have more anime than i know what to do with.

First order of business is probably catching the current/newer seasons of stuff that Crunchy previously blocked me on (or Netflix just lagged behind if they shared the same show - like Mob Psycho 100)

And on that note, Apothecary Diaries S2 watched!

Kinda wasn't competition for the slot of "first to watch" lol. Apothecary Diaries continues to be top-tier. I felt S2 also probably did a better job at S1 of weaving all the threads together to buildup to the climax, definitely felt like nearly everything was relevant in the end in some way. Shisui also an excellent addition to the cast. The second half of the season in particular was basically "can't stop watching" material as things really kicked into high gear. Shisui's takedown of her mom when she just shattered her delusions with the truth of everything that had been going on the past 30 years, up to and including predicting that she'd snap and snatch the gun and try to shoot her was so good. However, major violation of the bro/gal code to sell off that hairpin at the end. how could you do maomao like that. =(

Absolutely looking forward to a hopeful eventual S3 and beyond. Definitely one of my favorite anime, not just recently with Frieren, but like Frieren just in general.

I don't have a problem with optimism provided it's tonally appropriate - there are things worth celebrating, or at least positively acknowledging, happening - the West Coast and Northeast States each forming their own coalition to coordinate and approve vaccines now that Trump, RFK, and MAHA have subverted the CDC, FDA, etc. is one of them.

I do get a bit irked at some of it though when I feel it's not tonally appropriate. Like, an administration policy getting halted in a district court... like, sure, that's better than the alternative, but excuse me if I'm not going to feel super great about that when SCOTUS has completely rolled over and has been overturning them without explanation left and right to the point the judges on lower courts are frustrated enough that SCOTUS is feeding the narrative that they're (the lower courts) are lawless hacks when SCOTUS won't even bother to explain why they're blocking their rulings and just going "no sorry the president is right." It's pretty unprecedented that they're going public with their complaints about how SCOTUS has left them out to hang in a time when judges have been increasingly threatened because of incitement from Trump and the GOP.

And I will say absolutely miss me with trying to shut down or tut-tut people here who are correctly pointing out that this is a very chilling moment in American history (and even beyond in some regards) where things are getting worse very fast in ways that are easily identifiable because we've seen them play out in other countries as they fell to soft autocracy in the exact same way. Do I think some of the "doomer" takes have maybe gone a bit far in how I think it'll actually play out - at least in the short-ish term? Yeah. But it's sure as hell not unfounded. You have Nobel Prize winning journalists who got their Nobel Prize for continuing to try to stand up for truth and independence in the face of rising authoritarianism in their own countries who have been telling us for a decade "yo america watch yourself you guys are literally following the same exact steps we did. like exactly the same." It's not doomerism or pessimism to point that out. It can, and currently is "happening here." I don't know that I'd say it's over - though I sure don't see a path out of this any time soon - but the idea that "oh nah, you're overreacting, this is just corporate wheeling and dealing" like hell it is, this is very different and we all can see it.

The Kirk Day thing wasn't a formal vote. It was passed through unanimous consent. Basically, the chair asks "does anyone object?" and if no one does you bypass the longer process of having to hold a vote and all that.

Mind you, it's still pretty fucking pathetic that not a single Dem (and that's all it would take to thwart this particular avenue - though of course they could then proceed to have it set up as an actual up-or-down vote) objected but technically speaking when people say this passed unanimously through the Senate they're probably thinking that Bernie, Schumer, Warren, etc. all actively cast a "yea" vote on a motion to make a Kirk Remembrance Day and that's not what happened there. (again not saying that makes it better just clearing up the process of what went down)

I doubt America will ever be a full dictatorship because of the federal system if nothing else, but its probably reasonable to describe it as a hybrid regime similar to Hungary or Turkey at this point:
There's a reason Trump has brought up and praised Orban a whole bunch of times, usually out of nowhere. That's definitely the model the GOP is aspiring to, at the least. "Elections" but everything is rigged so that they basically can't lose. The other branches still technically exist but essentially cease to be coequal and are subservient to the Executive. Media and Corporations bend the knee and carry out the marching orders/guidances from the Executive and their party even though they're nominally still independent and not state actors on paper.

From a bird's-eye view it still appears to be a democracy and all of the institutions that make it such still exist albeit in distorted forms so they can still wag their finger at anyone calling it out by pointing to it, but take anything more than a passing glance at it and it's effectively anything but.

I don't think the text exchanges are faked simply because this isn't something they just released to the media but brought before a judge in a court as part of their actual prosecution.

If they're playing stupid games here they're going to win stupid prizes and Robinson will walk. I figure even they realize that's more damaging and embarrassing for them than anything else.

I'm also pretty sure this is the case being brought by the state of Utah, and in a press conference as they did it, the Utah AG (I think) basically subtweeted Patel's antics when a reporter asked him about it by saying, "Yeah, we wouldn't do that because we think that would lower the chances of an impartial jury"
