That's the one I mentioned earlier. Actually kinda liked how they acted it out for the video. Honestly, what I could see happening, is when they realized it was useless the crew started passing out cigarettes for that one last smoke. Even the non-smokers on the crew.

At supper time, the old cook came on deck and said "fellas it's too rough to feed ya", at 7 pm the main hatchway caved in and he said "fellas it's been good to know ya"

I imagine the cargo holds buckled and were inundated on top of all the problems the ship was already facing. Low in the water, listing, questionable hull integrity, rogue waves, and reefs may have all contributed on top of that.

The net result is a quick sinking.

I've been seeing a theory floating around that the bow and stern were caught between two steep waves and nothing between the middle. The weight of the ore on top of the hull integrity made it give way and buckle. Sounds a bit cartoonish to me, but I'm not an expert on these things.

When I first heard the song, I thought it was just a fictional story that made a good song. Wasn't until I I dug into it on Wikipedia that I found out it was a real event. Meteorologist Chris Vickers on Facebook has been posting a running timeline of that day, if interested. His news station has posted a documentary to their YouTube.

I know they found the ship but did they ever recover any bodies? I dont think i ever heard of a ship sinking so fast before, almost like something literally grabbed it and pulled it under.

They found the bodies, but left them where they are. The water is so cold that deep in Lake Superior, that they haven't decayed. In 1995 they went down and recovered the ships bell and replaced it with a replica with the crew names engraved on it as a sort of headstone. They apparently also left a beer on the ships bridge.

Started listening to it yesterday. It's crazy how similar Mark Addy's Hagrid sounds to Robbie Coltrane's. Not sure yet how I feel about Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore. His voice seems a little too deep and serious, though I've only listened to one chapter with him so far. McGonagall, Harry, and the Dursleys all sound good, haven't gotten to anyone else yet.

It's also a little weird hearing them use the intended pronunciation of Voldemort, with the silent T.

It really was. I had enough audible credits to get from sorcerer's stone to order of the Phoenix. I didn't spend any money on them. Though, I'm sure the publisher still gets paid by Amazon.

If you glitch it just right, it won't trigger screech and you can take your time.

Think of it as a cross between an audiobook and an "audio drama" or whatever you want to call them.

Also, as the main narrator is reading you'll hear some of the "additional voices" talking behind them. It's inconsequential to the story kind of stuff, but it does add more than your average audiobook.
