I'm in the Springs, a few miles from where our city is burning. I haven't been evacuated yet, and I think I'm probably far enough away to where I won't have to (knock on wood). I have a few friends that have had to evacuate. It honestly feels kind of apocolyptic, smoke is thick as fog, ashes are falling all over the place. Just hoping they can get this contained but the conditions aren't good...

Having spent a little time in both Phoenix and Orlando, I prefer a humid heat. I was in Phoenix when it was 113 degrees and the dry heat just makes you feel like you're going to turn to dust. And you're land locked so it feels like a desolate wasteland. At least in Florida you have the option of heading to a giant body of water for some relief.

Maybe consider a slow cooker. I got one along with a cookbook full of slow cooker recipes and it's been pretty awesome. I went from making really basic stuff to making stews, chilli, meatloaf, chicken dishes, pastas, all kinds of stuff.
