Beautiful game that's really not fun to play, at all.

Pretty much. I still thought the game was okay to play but then again the European version doesn't suffer from lag nearly as much as the American version does.

to be honest I was hoping lucifer would use his normal attack more often because demi-fiend was doing pretty good damage with retaliate!

and I got Devil Survivor from a local store that usually has a few import copies of games that never make it to europe.

Oh right, Devil Summoner too. Geez so many PS2 games, how come there isn't a single one on the PS3 yet.

And I have a feeling the SRPG thing is going to do me in, the only SRPG I ever beat is Disgaea and I probably only beat that because I was totally grinding levels in it!

Ok well... Got the Masakados, Bishamon was a jerk which made me feel not that confident about the final final boss.

But for some reason I felt like I was totally overprepared during the actual fight. Debilitate really ruins Lucifer since he didn't use Dekunda a single time. so after getting his stats down I just had 1 demon cast tarukaja, another rakukaja and the last one healing while my hero was using focus and freikugel. I don't even think I was that overleveled or anything I mean I was level 81 and apparently there are demons that require you to be level 95. I guess knowing about Pierce and the Masakados really helped here, but I kind of feel like a cheater with them now since I didn't even have a little bit of trouble with him. Playing on normal probably helped too.

Ending was pretty cool though, although I prefer the kingdom of the free or whatever one since I'm a sucker for good endings. gotta love the scene of the demi-fiend walking forward with red glowing eyes being followed by all those demons.

So all in all this was a pretty great game. The entire atmosphere this game had was really well done, the entire game had this feel of solitude to me which made it pretty unique for a JRPG. It also might be the hardest JRPG I played, I'll never forget about Matador at least! I never really was sure about the SMT series, I loved P3 and 4 but when I tried the P2 fantranslation it seemed really boring to me. But with Nocturne being so good I plan on at least trying to find the DDS games and Strange Journey, although I do have Devil Survivor though so I guess I can play that first.

And Baal went down without even summoning her allies. And I think I'm going to skip on finishing the compendium because I'm pretty sure this will take forever. I'll still get the Masakados though, I mean I have all the other magatamas so why not.

speaking of annoying. I realized this place also has that enemy that does the put to sleep/instant kill combo so I switched to the magatama that protects me from sleep. The first fight I get in, I immediately get killed off by a guy using hell gaze from which my previous equipped magatama would have protected me.

I never really got into devotion, it's just seems kind of boring to me. beach house is pretty good, but I'd take teen dream over it any day.

and for animal collective, I can't get into them either. I've only listened to MPP so far though, but since that seems to be the AC album that everybody loves, well I dunno.

also I got pixie back in the fifth kalpa, but I'm kind of disappointed, no buff or debuff moves and it seems like she's a real MP waster, geez.

yeah this happened to me occasionally in persona 3 as well, which would really piss me off. In nocturne however it happens so damn often that I've pretty much just started to accept it whenever it happens.

Gotta love being put to sleep and instant killed when you are one step away from the exit after spending at least an hour in the amala labyrinth, augh.

also that other topic purged or something. Going for the true demon ending now. I beat the 4 remaining fiends (who were all pushovers by now) and I also beat Beelzebub (who took ages to beat, but I didn't really feel like I was in danger of losing the fight at any point).

did that and the fight was really easy. it still took ages because my party sucked, but oh well.

After that I took on Kagutsuchi and wow, what a pushover. I don't know if he had dekunda or dekaja or not but he never used them, so once I was completely buffed and his stats were all the way down it was pretty much over. I'm really kind of disappointed, since the 3 gods all were pretty hard and even Thor managed to knock a demon out after he shocked him, but Kagutsuchi really didn't even get close.

the ending was pretty short but I did restore the world, so I'm guessing this is the good ending? seeing Isamu and Chiaki alive actually kind of took away from having to kill them in the tower (edit: actually now I'm kind of wonder if isamu and chiaki kept their memories like yuko did, that would be kind of awkward), but I'm glad I didn't get some completely bad ending since that would have been pretty lame after going through all this.

I still have my save from outside the tower, so I plan on going through the labyrinth with that. And I hope the tower won't be such a pain to go through again now that I know where I have to go, so I can face that hardest boss in the game.

might post my overall thoughts on the game later as well!

well after wandering around for like 2 hours yesterday I ended up using a guide for this part of the tower and it still was complicated, geez.

so then I ran into baal and she turned my entire party into flies and apparently you can't cure that for as far as I can see, so uhhh... this game

Took out Ahriman and Noah, but I had so much difficulty on both of them that it makes me a little less excited about this ultimate boss.
Ahriman probably could have knocked me out whenever he wanted if he focused his attacks more on demi-fiend, so I probably kind of lucked out when I did beat him. Noah was more about even knowing what was going to work on him and when I figured out his pattern he wasn't really that hard anymore although still a lot harder than most bosses before this tower.

I guess I might have been at a higher level if I did all of the amala labyrinth before this so it might be easier when I try for that other ending, guess I'll see whenever I do that.
