my bad, compared DREB on C's to TREB on bucks. and actually that makes sense - watching the game i never felt we were being crushed on the glass - glad to see some verification of that. jumpers were very smooth for pierce last night, and KG/bass made 'em when they counted...

it's also funny how rondo's 10p/13a performance is just par for the course, 'mediocre rondo'

holy s***. well that explains that.

in honesty though - i'm a little glad that this wasn't actually aired in the order of creation - because the show appeared to improve dramatically in quality as the production order increased, not necessarily as the airing order increased - and i think this way it might actually have been more enjoyable!

Do you realize the gap between 205 and 265? There are some tiny people fighting at HW. The gap is too big. It's to the point of being unfair. Jon Jones is going to have to move up soon. Phil Davis might, too. Cruiserweight is definitely needed .. in my opinion. We have ten pounds increments for the most part and then we have 60 pounds.

who are these monster 265lbers making it impossible for the 225-245lb guys to compete then? lesnar? carwin? bigfoot silva? HW has traditionally seen champions the size of fedor, couture, velazquez, nogueria, mir, dos santos, etc... at a weight where anyone can KO anyone with a single punch, and where talent is inversely correlated with size, i think that it's a plenty competitive division as is.

glad to hear there is some support on this board

i'm only 5 episodes into the show and i see a lot of potential. i just hope that it improves through the second (and upcoming third) season - so far it's relied on a few 'new cliches' - but i see a lot of potential and a naturally very likable cast.

Yeah but cruiserweight is needed, because the jump is from LHW (205 pounds) straight to heavyweight (265). Sure, the talent is there to overcome, like JDS being the champion now and Frankie Edgar being the champ at LW before that, but it will likely eventually be a problem. I'm thinking 225 or 230. And then sure, make the HW unlimited .. we don't have to worry about (more) bulbous guys in there because the UFC only signs who they want

well what i'm saying is, all i see is 'cruiserweight' being full of fat LHWs who don't want to cut weight. 205-265 is already so shallow that splitting it up even further would just dilute the field even more.

I really think the sport would benefit from a Cruiserweight Division at 225 or 230 to replace Heavyweight entirely. The list of great heavyweights in the sport's (admittedly short) history who couldn't possibly make weight in such a division is very slim, it would give bigger LHWs another option without fearing getting smothered by a man 60 pounds heavier, and it would (literally) trim the fat.

actually i don't see why you couldn't just remove the weight limit on heavyweight and make it an actual heavyweight division. in boxing the unlimited weight champions are like 250lb and not fat at all.

oh whoops, sorry - thought you were disputing the fanbase size

but basically i think at this point that the crowd is growing a lot based on young people who are kinda eager at their age to point fingers and say 'this is awesome, this isn't' - and a guy who's not afraid to make enemies by putting down rivals with senseless statements

i mean, did you see the guy responding to hundreds of tweets when fedor lost?

I don't think that's true. I don't think it's even big enough yet to the point where we can really tell, though.

hm, i'm just going by the fact that crowds are always sold out, that they've toured tons of cities and always done great, that PPV buys are always in the 500K-1MM range (and this is without their cash cow GSP), and that in north america at least, the brand is pretty universally recognized (i think that 'UFC' would draw the same amount of name recognition as 'mike tyson' or whatever on the street, for example

the UFC's popularity is increasing and i think that much of its demographic appreciates white's willingness to say controversial garbage

lolwat at hockey being the most talented sport though. isn't it almost entirely white?

as for the lack of really big athletes in fighting sports, i'm guessing that the niche for over-six-foot athletes is getting taken over by the NBA/NFL. now what's really puzzling is the lack of talent for guys 6'10'' or above in the NBA...

hmm, beat the silo and the frigate last night.

i really enjoy straightforward levels like the silo (even if i fission mailed once by not realizing what the satellite was). pounded the guards who appeared in front of me and generally was able to clean out the level in a pretty linear way.

had a bit more trouble with the frigate, where first i quickly failed the mission by planting the bug on the boat instead of the chopper <_<... next time round, beat it. that silenced D5K is slick as hell. took me a while to find the exit after i bugged the chopper but it was cool. wound up getting blown up a few times and only freed a few hostages (and several were executed), but hey, i achieved the mission!

surface took humiliatingly long. disabled the radar quickly but kept wandering in and out of the cabins. then wound up trying to get into the bunker from the main entrance not once, not twice, but three times - after obtaining various different keys and blueprints that aren't even required on agent difficulty. finally went back and read the briefing. 'whoops'

spent the 'cool' part of the level using my sniper rifle, picking off enemies like a boss. there didn't seem to be that many. but after i started setting off alarms left and right (for a total of 6ish times?) they were everywhere. and they also took many hits to the chest to kill, which threw me off. grr.
