This was the first contest I was every in contention of winning but it still sucks carrying a perfect into the last day and blowing it.

Especially looking at the final results and seeing if I went with Link 55-59 (my other choice) rather than Link 60-65 I would have finished top 5.

I feel comfortable in myself knowing that I got a perfect 63 matches in a row correct (assuming Link wins) and I don't need a final spot on the leader board to feel good about that so the idea of risking it is not worth it to me really doesn't hold water.

So I might as well go for the prizes which straight picks are not going to get you. YoBlazer the theme of "The Show" has always been go for it if you are reasonably confident right?

Well you have to be reasonably confident in Link at 60-64.99 considering both his wins over Mario in the past have been in that range and any SS advantage seems to be mitigated by Mario having a slight edge in this format.

^ Why take the 10%?

Its worth less points than the 5% and the extra range it gives you really doesn't help.

I highly doubt Mario can make this closer than 55-45 (warranting a 50-60 pick) and even with SS I dont think it can overcome the rivalry factor advantage to a point where Link is actually stronger against Mario than he was last year, so I dont see Link really going over 65.

But Mario looks a lot stronger in this format.

Straight up he would probably beat Cloud in this format from the look of todays match.

Its going to require SFF for Link to go over 60.

Then again though the only guys to EVER hold Link under 60 in a 1vs1 are Cloud and Seph...

Link, Mario, Cloud, Sephiroth, Samus, Solid Snake, Mega Man, and sometimes Squall. Same final 8 every single year.

So what do you suggest? Put those 8 guys in the same quarter and have the late rounds be a squash?

Cloud has not lost to anyone in the last 8 years besides besides Link. His only non-Link loss was to Mario in year 1 on the day of Sunshine's release when Planet Gamecube linked to the poll.

Im thinking Link with 60-64.99 probably is the best bet.

His wins over Mario have been 62% and 64% and I think the rivalry format gives Mario a slight boost.

I think the Trainers will beat Samus easy.

The real match Im interested in is Trainers vs Mario

Charizard dropped 47 on Mario last year and I think the Trainers are stronger this year than Charizard last year plus have a nice nostalgic rivalry boost. Mario will probably still pull it out setting up a Link/Mario final but I think both semis are moderately interesting now.

The fact is Samus has beaten Snake before straight up. Obviously she is weaker in this format and will get smashed by the trainers but i dont think two weaker MGS dudes will take her out
