Nobody should be contesting that he fought the best that was available to him at the time, because he did. The problem is that the level of competition, especially at the heavyweight level, was so low back then as MMA was in such an early stage that it made Fedor look a lot better than he was.

Ultimately Fedor was a pioneer and a great fighter -- but to call him the GOAT is just ignorant. It didn't take that long and the training hasn't changed that much to where we have fighters that are just better. Losing to Henderson especially really hurt him.

Also I think it's likely that Fedor would have beaten Lesner. That said, guys like Cormier, Big Foot, Velasquez, JVR, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones etc. would destroy him.

They're not really similar at all, but BHam is going to take the MLB by storm when he gets there. He might be the fastest player ever. He's still very raw too, and his ability to learn the game is pretty impressive given his extreme improvement from year to year.

If he continues at the rate that he has been he could become the ideal lead-off hitter. 103 SB last year, and literally has 31 SB in 26 games this year.

For those of you interested in one of the most exciting prospects in the minors right now here are some amazing facts:

Can't believe the Reds pulled out that game (read as: were given the game by the Cubs) but at least it makes up for some of the totally bogus games we've lost because of umps.

Considering how bad Cinci has been playing and they're still .500 it makes me very optimistic about their chances moving forward when the team actually starts playing well.

And I don't think Elliott can play several games in a row, I don't think he's conditioned for that. God damn Jackman for taking out Halak.

Now he freakin' got a delay of game penalty? Wow.

Like I said...

Elliott was always worse than his numbers. He's not the type of goalie that can carry a team he needs to be carried by his team. Halak and Pietrangelo were so important to any success the Blues were going to have in the post-season.

Obviously Pietro is back but I think that, at this point, they're too far gone.

No Pietrangelo and Quick is in their heads.

Also Elliott isn't as good of a goalie as Halak is. He was always worse than his numbers showed, and he's always been a streaky goalie.

It's unfortunate that probably their two most important players if they wanted a long playoff run are injured, but they are. The team just needs to man up and play.

Stubbs

If not thinking the Sens were going to make the playoffs means someone knows nothing about hockey, I guess you're the only person in the world who knows anything about hockey, right? You probably correctly picked the finish of every other team in the league too, right?

Congratulations. You made a ridiculous illogical homer pick and it actually turned out to be right. Happens sometimes. You should be proud, really. But you don't have to be a tremendous, arrogant, ass about it. You realize the other Sens fans on this board are embarrassed to be associated with you, right?

I've always cared so much about what kids online feel towards me. But let's clear something up: I'm not arrogant nor am I an ass about the Sens. I'm specifically that way towards you because of how pompous and arrogant you were before the season started. You thought I was just being a homer -- but I provided a detailed explanation with every factor included as to why Ottawa would challenge for the 8 seed this year. You provided nothing but ignorance and bull****. You had literally nothing to offer to the conversation except a lack of any hockey knowledge. Literally every point you made I refuted with statistics and evidence so you moved onto the next thing or ignored the responses entirely.

Act like a victim, but you brought it on yourself by speaking out of ignorance and acting high and mighty in the first place. But that's your MO.

Peace.

I don't know how you guys can call Lundqvist an average goaltender in the playoffs. He has been all-world against Ottawa -- especially the last 3 or 4 games which could have easily been blowouts for the Sens if he wasn't playing as well as he has been. The team in front of him is just not that good.

Right. I have no idea what I'm talking about because I call you out on your idiocy?

You literally have no idea what you are talking about. You trashed the Sens previous to the season (touting Montreal of all teams above them), and after stopping following this topic because of your idiocy I'm sure I missed a whole bunch of dumb **** that you've said this year. You argued about Anderson and then when I posted the statistics and brought reality into the topic you conveniently just stopped addressing the subject (until above where you said that Anderson had 10 mediocre seasons lol.)

But you keep pretending that you actually know something about hockey.

Also, Shadow, they don't have a history of choking AFAIK. They just have had some bad injury luck and have run into some hot teams at times. Pretty average stuff. They should be considered the SC favorites though. They have the best team in the league from top to bottom.

You are selling Colaicovo very short. Every defenceman makes boneheaded plays...Pietrangelo is no different. People tend to see their stars through rose coloured glasses (I can't stand listening to Ottawa fans talk about Karlsson and Alfredsson as though their infallible then rag on Spezza.) Colaiacovo is a very talented defenceman.

Uhhh....Backes and Oshie are the most important forwards on that roster -- whether or not they are producing right now. McDonald is a great offensive force for them though. Colaiacovo is a great defenceman and I don't see how you could question him. He's very talented and why would you replace him? He's part of the reason that St. Louis has one of the deepest defence corps in the league.

Naturally I want to agree with you, but you do realize the Kings, an 8 seed, just beat the 1 seed Canucks? So the seeds don't matter. However, I don't even think we had McDonald for the games against the Kings in the regular season. So yeah, there's a good chance the Blues will win. Then again, there's also a good chance they will s*** the bed because they're somewhat prone to it.

In what way are they prone to it? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you just start following hockey? Not trying to be rude or anything.

Vancouver losing to LA has nothing to do with the seeding. Vancouver is just a very mentally and physically weak team. They are easily taken off their game and had a bad match-up. It happens. They aren't a team that is built to win the cup though.

Why are you singling out only two players on each team? St. Louis is not a team that gets by on a single star or two, it's a team that is deep everywhere. They're like a better version of the Bruins last year. Oshie, Backes, McDonald (who isn't even their second best forward...dunno why he was being compared to Richards and Kopitar) Berglund, Steen, Arnott, Stewart, Shattenkirk, Colaiacovo, Petriangelo, etc. etc.

St. Louis is easily the best and most well-rounded team in the league right now. If they lose it's because they failed to play as well as they can.

I edited this post. I meant if the Devils don't win, then I will be rooting for the Sens. Rangers > Devils > Sens.

From: BleedingRed | #081
This is wrong. Blues and Kings were pretty even throughout the season. We have better depth, but Quick is better than Elliott/Halak by a small margin. Both teams play really good defensive style hockey, tight and physical. The series could go either way.

They weren't even at all. One of the teams ended up 8th and one ended up 2nd (and outside of Vancouver beating up on bad teams, look at their respective divisions...St. Louis was definitely the best team in the league this year.) St. Louis let in a ridiculous 155 goals...all year...and 7 of those were empty netters. In almost half as many games Elliott had 1 less shutout than Quick. Anyway...statistically speaking St. Louis let in 15 less goals this year and scored 18 more goals...it sounds small, but it's not. That's a +33 differential.

The series shouldn't go either way unless the Blues **** the bed. They are better literally everywhere on the ice.

The Sens have given Philly trouble all year outside of their first game which was during the new coach adjustment period.

Boston is the only team I think is a really bad match-up for Ottawa that is left in the East. I really hope that Washington can put them out for us. (assuming we even get by NY)

SmartMuffin posted...
but have a better offense overall.

I'm not so sure about this. Statistically based on this year's regular season, yeah, but the Kings haven't been NEARLY as offensively inept in the last couple months. Kings have PLENTY of offensive talent, they just underachieved most of the year.

Do you even watch Hockey? St. Louis is superior to LA everywhere -- literally. They have a better system, better defence (by far), better forwards, and they have better goaltending (although Elliott could fall apart at any time...and this is the closest category.)
