I don't agree that Link has this locked up quite yet. Obviously he goes in as the favorite, because it's Link, but Cloud/Seph have looked very good these past two rounds, and the format should favor them. It's definitely the best shot anyone's ever had at taking Link down.

Well if you're going to put all the Moxen and Sol Ring as one entry, sure! Still, I'd put Vampiric Tutor/Imperial Seal, Time Vault and Tinker all over it as well.

Tolarian Academy completely broke the game and is widely considered the strongest card ever made, especially in a set full of cards that could completely abuse it.

Dude what are you talking about. Tolarian Academy is a very powerful card, but it's not even in the top 10 strongest cards, and certainly not "widely regarded" as the strongest card ever made.

In the last 3 years or so though, $100 for new good rares has become the standard.

This isn't true at all. The only card that's ever hit that price while still being in Standard is Jace. Even other cards that come out at high prices never stay up there, and generally settle back down in the $30 or so area (the new Liliana for instance). I mean, there's probably less than 50 cards in all of Magic that have a $100 or more price tag.

Not that $30 for a card isn't a lot, because it is, but it's a far cry from a "$100 standard for new rares".
