Is it possible to switch out the motherboard/processor? The Motherboard doesn't support DDR3 memory so I want to change that out. Should I just build a new computer instead, salvaging any sort of components I can to cut costs?

Pull the hard drive out(Because, why not, even if its a crummy hard drive, you might as well keep your stuff, no harm having 2 hard drives).

I threw that together.

I wouldnt suggest buying a hard drive right now if you can avoid it, prices are crashing. Do recommend the SSD though(If you can, salvage a hard drive you've got now for a bit).

For whatever reason that RAM doesnt have a rebate on it. I usually get some variation of the Corsair XMS3(got it on the XMS2 way back when as well) for like $25 after rebate(Actually the current RAM im using I got for $20 after a $25 rebate). Look for that if you can wait. I actually bought it in store(at Fry's).

If you need to cut cost can always get a slightly lower performing video card(I always recommend staying with EVGA for the nvidia cards, btw)

everything else is pretty basic stuff for a budget around $1000.

I dunno, I have 4GB with a 2500K and a Geforce 560Ti, and the bottleneck has always been in badly parallelized programs that don't take advantage of the 4 cores. Never had a problem with RAM. But I do only play on 1920x1080... if you are doing some insane 2500x1900 or something resolution, then maybe you might need more RAM... or maybe only GPU memory matters for that anyways.

The RAM is going to be more based on how many programs you want to be able to run at once. 8 will be plenty and you will not need more than that. 4 will not be enough if you are the average PC gamer.

Also why are you guys looking at 700-800W PSUs.

Thats overkill by todays standards. though occasionally theres a few 750W on a good sale, you usually end up just paying for power you will never need.

Also I'd be happy to put together a quick build, but to maximize your budget need to know if you need an OS(Also monitor/keyboard/mouse, but most people have these and are happy with them), if your price takes into account taxes, stuff like that.

I take it "integrated graphics" means "extra cost for a lacking graphics solution"..?

Would the other i7 processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116502) be the better choice?

Actually the same as the previous i7 linked in the topic, just with an unlocked CPU multiplier for overclocking.

Basically, with the intel CPU, theres usually 2 versions, one unlocked(Signified with a K on the end) or the locked(With a K).

16GB is also only needed for video editing... just stick with 4GB.

4 GB is no longer enough, but you'd be hard pressed to fill 8GB.

Suppose I'm in a team fight as Ahri, just as an example, but this is recent. I do my combo and chunk an enemy, but now all my stuff is on cool down. Do I start auto attacking to contribute a little bit of damage, or should I run away and wait for my stuff to come back up?


Dont let them trade with you. If they are running away, yeah, autoattack.

If you are going to clean up even if they hit you, yeah, autoattack.

If you can dodge them or if their abilities are on CD, yeah, autoattack.

If you autoattack and all of a sudden they hit all their skills on you and you die, thats bad.

In general, yeah, get your autos off. Just make sure you dont put yourself in a position to be killed for doing it.

It is the absolute worst taste in the world to me.

I remember being like 17-18, I hit a "try everything" phase with food. I discovered I liked just about everything that I'd never eaten in my life. Then I tried a salad with a vinegar based dressing on it. I nearly threw up.

They are fun and challenging platformers.

The first game is more of a SM64 style platformer, while after that its a bit more linear and actiony(With a big difficulty ramp up).

Excellent games all around though. You should buy without a second thought.

Do you honestly think, after all I'd been through, that I cared that anyone learned anything from that experience?

You dont learn anything from winning.

Do I like going 20-0-10 and stomping a team, yeah. Its fun. Do I get annoyed when said game goes longer than 20 minutes? Yeah, I do. Why? Because I'm not learning a damn thing.

The only way you learn anything in this game is a) Losing, b) dying.

When I die, in my head, I'm usually running over "Hey, why did I die, what could I have done differently, what should I have done, how did I f*** up so that I dont f*** up again."

When I lose, I think, "Hey, what objectives did they push, dragons did they take, wards did they have, and how/where should our team have been".

I dont generally think any of those things when I'm winning. Winning is easy. Its the losses where its easier to take things from the game. Yeah, I dont like whatever my allies did, and yeah, they probably ultimately lost the game, but does that mean I take nothing from it? No. Theres usually always something more you could do to give your team a chance to win.

I somewhat appreciate when I lose or make a mistake because I try to make a mental note to not make the same mistake twice. Especially in game, I feel the worst when something happens to me twice that I could have prevented(And believe me, you can almost always prevent stupid deaths).

Yeah that's true that they can't go too much higher cause it's not like it drops off the map late game or anything, still useful, but no longer mindless either. I just said that because I don't feel good about giving heal an outright nerf. It seems it's really close to where it should be right now-- useful yet not too overpowering for any of the game except for the first few levels.

Like I think 100-110 + 30 per level or so would be better. (Right now it's at 145 + 25 per level for the record)

One thing I could see with heal is possible frontloading like half of the heal and then giving it a bit of a HOT component for the rest.

This would give it less of a troll feeling, much like the old catalyst fix.

btw great touch with the forcefield on canterlot during the first song. It caught my eye and I thought I was crazy for a bit.

Also all the magic use this season was great.

Because FD bugged me enough, then I got bored and remembered I should probably post pictures.
