At this rate I think us folks that guessed greater than 60% are in trouble. Should have just gone with a straight pick rather than an oracle pick

I've got it all on Link 60-65%. I probably won't be winning the contest even if I am right, but I don't have a prize entry anyways

I'm probably just going for the flat out pick, maybe 10%.

That being said, I'm only doing this because my entry isn't a prize entry ("Nah I won't bother, not like I'll actually win anything anyways"). I would probably be going for the 5% pick if I had a shot at a prize though. I don't really know the percent, as at this point I wouldn't be suprised by anything between, say, 53% and 70% for Link.

This was done without looking at anyone elses nominations, so there are probably good ones that I missed, but anyway:

S.E.E.S (Persona 3)
Cruxis (Tales of Symphonia)
The God Generals (Tales of the Abyss, if they qualify)
The Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter)
Dumbledore's Army (Sue me, I like Harry Potter)
The Al Bhed (Final Fantasy X)
Organization XIII (Kingdom Hearts)
The Fellowship of the Ring (Lord of the Rings, not sure if this one qualifies either)
The Reapers (The World Ends With You)
Fight Club/Project Mayhem (Fight Club)

This is all I can think of for now

The amount of FFIX in this topic is truly great. That being said I cant decide between FFIX or FFX, so I'll just list both.

FFIX: The sequence from Oielvert to the arrival on Terra was lackluster compared to the rest of the game.

FFX: The Calm Lands. Not because I hate the area, I actually really love it as a level. It's just that the game is so great from pretty much the entire game up until that point, and each time I get to the Calm Lands it always strikes me that the best part has passed and the game is almost over.

In a close match, the b8 favorite will win.

No exceptions.

Thank you.
Finally, someone who understands.

The main reason that this contest has been awful (with absolutely no upsets of any kind) is because the vote totals are so low, that in close matches the bracket voters (through the B8 consensus) have skewed every match in favour of the favourite.
It's the same reason that matches that were though to have a very small chance of being an upset (like matches predicted to be in the 55-45 to 60-40 range, ended up as 75-25 blowouts throughout the entire first round -- bracket voting against the upsets.

The contest does not work with vote totals this low.

Part of the problem was the poor idea for a contest, poor alignment of the battles, not allowing more interesting entries, etc. But if the traffic on the site doesn't go back up then the contest is definitely dead.

I don't think the effect of bracket voting is quite that large. I definitely am not alone when I say that I vote for my favorite character/game/whatever even if it conflicts with my bracket. I voted Sora/Riku in both R2 and R3 even though I had them lose round 2 in my normal bracket and have them losing today in battle bracket.

I'm 22. I know a pile of garbage (FF8) from a masterpiece (KH). People who don't like KH usually moan the story is "too complex". Huh, well I understand the story quite well. People don't pay attention to cutscenes and dialogue and base their opinion on that. The story is quite easy to learn, its fun, and the cast is likable. And not all KHs "mash the X button". Try that against Ursula form 1 in Kingdom Hearts. You'd be killed.

Actually, I hated the story because it was overly simplistic. Literally nothing in the overall story changed other than Sora's location from after leaving Traverse Town the first time to the time you reach Hollow Bastion (which I will admit is a pretty awesome level).

Objectively speaking, there is really nothing at all special in the first Pokemon as compared to the later ones. There is literally nothing better about Red/Blue other than nostalgia.

Well, I guess why I dont get it is because I cant picture anyone voting for a character based on a non-canonical appearance of that character.

I guess if its a matter of voting "that guy from Kingdom Hearts" or "this other guy I've never heard of" I could see it, I guess I just underestimated hhow much that played a role in Squall's vote

I dont understand the whole theory that Squall gets votes from Kingdom Hearts.

Squall isn't even called Squall, its "Leon," unless there is like one scene or something. Unless people knew who Squall was before playing Kingdom Hearts, there would be no way to associate the KH "Leon" character with the Squall in the pole.

Okay I believe there should be one entry per IP.Yeah I know you can only enter 1 prize entry but I can make 300 accounts and have every contest perfect by making all possible combinations on debatable matches so at least 1 of them will be perfect...

There are way to many debatable matches per contest to do this I think, although admittedly this year is putting it in the realm of possibility. Even by conservative estimates, I would say there have been at least 10 debatable matches so far (I say that as if its a lot), which would mean 1024 different combinations you would have to make. If the number even increases to a still incredibly small 15 matches than you would have to make over 32000 brackets.

I've got the feeling the casuals who are still perfect in the battle challenge are visiting board 8 each day to find out who the favorite is. This is just getting ridiculous. I hope there's an upset and 99% of you get wiped.

Since I feel like this statement is directed at people like me, as a lurker for the past ~4 years, I feel like its more just a reflection on how easy this contest has to pick so far. The only match so far where Board 8's opinion caused me to change was on taking Bosses>Tidus/Jecht in Round 1 and 2, and I highly doubt only casuals are guilty of changing one pick because of someone else's opinion.

7 hours in; I've done the first dungeon and a good number of sidequests.

The game is great so far except for one thing: the motion controls. They aren't terrible, and they dont make the game unplayable or anything, its just they literally add nothing to the game. The only thing I've seen so far from the motion controls making things needlessly difficult. Flying is kind of a pain with the controls, and that beetle thing is the most annoying item I have ever used in a Zelda game. Pointless gimmicky mini-games that utilize the motion controls are also added (If I have to cross one more tightrope I may chuck my remote at a wall).

Don't get me wrong I love the game, I just feel like it would have been better in every way if they had simply had the player use a GCN controller.
