Every other video loads fine, but then there's just this one that's completely f***ed for no reason.

And I usually don't even care about the video anyway. It's always something that I clicked on out of boredom, and would normally close after watching like ten seconds, but when I'm denied the ability to watch it, it just makes me want to watch it more than ever, even if it's crap. So I sit there trying to reload the video, even though it doesn't do any good, and I'm only wasting time on something I care nothing about, and I'll probably still close it after ten seconds if I actually manage to finally watch it! Damn it all!

Ah Lockstep. So deceptively difficult. Constantly switching to and from the backbeat is a lot harder than it looks. Once you get the trick down, it's a really fun game, but I admit this got me mad for a short while:

Someone had poured gasoline inside the body of the guitar, and with one match, he exploded into space!

He went further than the Pluto, which is no longer a planet! He looked at his skin - it was slowly turning green, and then peeling off - revealing muscle underneath. When Avatar was around, they hadn't expected much from it. The catch was the show soared ratings wise, we're talking making everything look miniscule in comparison, even their teen drama shows. They still tried to cancel it.

Are you sure this is true? I've never heard about this before, and Avatar was huge right from the start. Nick pretty much did they opposite, they whored it out as much as they could, and they still do.

Well, as I've said, even though the minigames are simple to play, the game doesn't pull any punches when it comes to forgiveness. You given a very low allowance when it comes to misses, and getting Perfects requires a lot of skill.

Shooting ghosts in the groin and nose is never not funny:


Perfectly illustrates how following the rhythm lets you pull off stuff you couldn't do with your eyes alone. Shooting a ghost perfectly when there's no visual cues (or music!) is awesome.

Nah, it pretty much is.

Well, what I mean is, if you tried to beat the minigames by trying to react what happens on the screen, you'll be too slow. But by listening to the music, you can keep up with whatever comes at you.

I think Munchy Monk is a great example of the type of gameplay the series has. You can how the simple actions can be hard to keep up with you were just reacting to them visually, but the music helps guide you to tap the screen when you need to:

No, I don't think it could work that way. The game and the music are all designed to compliment each other. It uses original music, rather than licensed tunes, and it's designed that the visuals and the gameplay match up perfectly to the music.

When you think of a "rhythm game", you often think about playing to music. Trying your best to match the beats in the song. In this series, the songs accompany the minigame's gameplay. You use the song as a tool to help you find the rhythm you need in order to play the game. Although the games look very simple, you couldn't really play them without the music. It requires too much precision to get it right with your eyes alone.

It's not about timing or reflexes, it's about pure rhythm. As I said before, if you keep the rhythm, you could play the games with your eyes closed.

If you don't know what Rhythm Heaven is, then that means you haven't played the other games in the series, which is a damn shame, but I'll forgive you if you make it up this time.

Rhythm Heaven is sort of a cross between Wario Ware and a rhythm game. It's made up up several minigames, usually organized in tiers with five or four minigames each and a Remix that mixes together all the games in a tier into one longer song. The minigames are about minute long, and pretty simplistic. The usually only have one simple goal, and rarely involve any kind of complicated controls, so they're very easy to pick up and play. One game has a rabbit that bounces off the the back the turtles, another has you slicing demons with a sword, another has you shooting ghosts in the junk with arrows, you know, simple.

Except the trick is all the games are set up to synchronize with the rhythm of the song. In the rabbit bouncing game, you press the A button to bounce when the rabbit lands on a turtle. But each bounce matches up the rhythm of the song perfectly. So if you're in tune with the rhythm, you'll clear the game easier. In fact, many games deliberately mess with your ability to see what's happening on the screen, so you can never really rely on your eyes alone. So, for example, in the rabbit game, you'll occasionally bounce off whales that launch you high up into the air. You'll land on another turtle after several beats, but you'll only be able to bounce with precision if you're still keeping up with the rhythm. It's kind of difficult to explain the appeal if you haven't played it, but it's amazingly fun. And because of the way the games are designed, you might find them easier to play with your eyes closed!

And don't think just because it looks cute that means it's easy. It's surprisingly challenging. You can only pass a minigame if you complete it with a certain amount of correct hits, and it's not one of those "oh, you tried your best and got most of them correct, so you made it" kind of games. It's pretty unforgiving, and won't let you pass a game unless you really put some effort into it. And that's not counting getting the Medals or Perfects which will require some hardcore skill. Luckily, since the minigames aren't very long, it's no trouble to try again until you get it, and if you're really having trouble, you can skip a game if you fail it too much.

I can't recommend this game series enough, and not enough people have played it. This one's cheap too, it's only $29.99 everywhere I look. You have no excuse. Even if you don't normally like rhythm games, this one is very original and very fun. I guarantee if you try it, you'll love it. So go to heaven! Rhythm Heaven!

I had a chance to get his autograph this morning. I waited patiently in turn as he went up the crowd drawing and signing people's stuff, and just when he was up to me, there was seriously just ONE other person in front of me, he was like, "Well'p, I'll be here all day if I keep signing autographs, so I gotta go!"

I mean, admittedly I wasn't that invested in the whole thing, I don't really care about autographs, but it still sucks when you're that close to the cut-off point. >_<

also, I remember fighting some humungous, gigantic monster that I had to be on top of a tower to engage

is that a sidequest?

You need to do that in order to get the Ultimate Key. I can't remember exactly when you need it, but I'm pretty sure there's one point where you need it to unlock something in order to progress.

There's one optional dungeon where you can get a piece of armor for the main character. It's the one that doesn't have any enemies in it until you push a block off a switch. That's all I can remember. You should have done everything else by that point.

I'm askin cause when I last played the game, this was my last saving point

then I did like 3 dungeons

then the battery died and I gave up

but yea, is 3 dungeons really "at the end"?

Like, where did you go? There's really only the final dungeon left here. Unless you wandered into some sidequests, or are doing things out of order (I'm not even sure if that's possible at that point) you really shouldn't be completing three more dungeons.
