I'm not sure about that but my uncle always said a car should be at least 1/4 full at all times, if you run a car on fumes it's far more likely to have issues with dirt getting into the fuel system or some other issues.If your fuel filter is working dirt won't be an issue. With fuel pumps being in the gas tank now, they're cooled by gas. They usually need 1/4 of a tank to be optimally cooled
