I believe it. Maury, much like The People's Court, hires background people to play the part of friends/supporting witnesses/whatever. You don't even actually have to be the subject of the episode, you can just apply to play the "friend"/"witness"/etc. There's a Youtube channel of some guy who posted about his experiences playing a "witness" for like... 6? different people, on People's Court.I should specify, she was the subject for a segment. She brought a dude on for a paternity test (yes, it was his, no, there was no chance it was mine).
