This is not a remotely fleshed out idea, and it quite possibly never will be. Best case it'll be the next project after PotY, worst case it'll be a lil mental exercise for myself. Leaning towards the latter.

What if, I mashed up some elements of B8UCA (voters decide matches) and B8WL (NPCs are booked by rolling on charts, I fluff up the results to present them)? I'm thinking:
-The roster would be made up of NPCs of some sort, not B8ers doing roleplaying (IRL pro wrestlers? Video game characters? User-crafted OCs?)
-Users vote on the outcomes of "wrestling matches,"
-Matches are GENERALLY determined by votes, but I'll also have tables to roll on that will have some influence on match outcomes and story progression. I'll take both of those inputs and do mini-writeups as the official results.
-I'll give myself a bit more control than I do with other board game wrestling sims- the tables will be bespoke, the results will be a bit flexible and open to interpretation, I'll use my judgement to apply bonii and penalties (before the roll) like an RPG DM.

Discussion questions:
-Does that idea sound appealing at all? Is not having an RP element a dealbreaker?
-What would you want me to use for a roster? I'm leaning towards fictional characters of some sort.
-How much control would you be willing to cede to dice? (ie, is it cool if Wigs beats XIII 9-7 but then XIII wins the match because the dice said Nick ran in for a +3 bonus? Or should it ONLY be used for flavor and storylines?)
-If B8 goes kaput or I get b7, which (if any) platforms would you be willing to participate on? Old UCA board? Discord? A separate Discord? B8train? Carrier pigeon?
-Any PPV concepts (UCA, B8WL, WWE, anything) you particularly would or wouldn't want to see in the rotation?

unrelated: man, can y'all believe we used to do this with people? and most of us (myself doubly included) didn't see any kinda issue with that? I frickin love tournaments and weird formats and all that but epop is one of the more embarrassing things in my/the board's past imo....similarly to UotY, though, I kinda wanna figure out a way to bring B8UCA back as a format someday, without making everybody vote on their friends <_<

I'm sorry y'all don't like the tag round, and figured it wouldn't be super popular, but I'm also not changing it. It's fun for me, and this is a thing I am doing for fun, y'know? Y'all have my blessing if you wanna not engage with this round or the whole thing, or even if you want to make your own tournament and do it how you want. But I think the time to complain about the format was during the couple weeks it was made available before we started.

I'll probably take a day off today and I'll probably keep going tomorrow.

also I think y'all are overestimating how cookie cutter this round is gonna be. Like yeah the blowouts are gonna blowout, but I don't think Electrode was gonna beat Mimikyu 1v1 either. We've had a few close-ish matches, and they'll get slightly closer in seeding over the course of the round. I've set it up so day 1 is the 1 seed, and the X+1, 2X+1, and 3X+1 seeds, so that we don't start with all blowouts and end with all coinflips. Still though, that'll lead to slightly more debatable matches as 1 approaches X.

there's also only so seriously I can take complaints about the existence of seeding when we spent round 1 complaining about its absence

to be fair that IS the order of seeding, although teammates are right next to each other

doing the tiebreakers for the eliminations now! Of amusement is that Uxie got 8th place -22, and Mesprit and Azelf both got 8th place -24. Consistency!

I didn't lose a TON of faves in R1, but Brionne is at least top 25 I think :\
