Okay as I am typing them this is WAY harder then it seems Olive Garden should be on here. Same with like a TGI Fridays or Applebyes. Red Robin, Longhorn. There are so many. Double Edit - HOOTERS! That's like the most American you can get.

Waffle House lost some of the atmosphere once you couldn't smoke in restaurants anymore and there wasn't a thick haze hanging in the air every time you went inside one

You can always tell when a building used to be an IHOP because of the roof, same with Pizza Hut

One opened up near me a few years ago. It was great! Then COVID killed it.

The nomination for gas stations and this whole topic made me realize that this entire Rushmore thing could be like a scummy business idea like Guinness World Records

you get paid bribes by companies to get some experts together to figure out what the Mount Rushmore of XYZ is and they conveniently include your company. It gets added to an official book of Rushmores that gets published yearly and you maintain a website that puts out press articles

then Shell Gasoline can say in their commercials that they are on the OFFICIAL MOUNT RUSHMORE OF GAS STATIONS

it would be such a great grift and being so overtly patriotic about it makes it funnier

It's like how Michelin started rating restaurants to get people to travel to eat at them and wear out their tires faster
